NFL QUARTERBACK BRETT FAVRE FINALLY MOVES TO RETIREMENT
After 17 good years of playing on the NFL’s Green Bay Packers, quarterback Brett Favre finally decided to retire from the game. The Packers retired quarterback told ESPN today in quote, “I know I can still play, but it's like I told my wife, I'm just tired mentally. I'm just tired.” The legendary three-time MVP has achieved many goals in his career, including over several league records and, this year, setting the most career touchdown passes in the NFL. Just last season, Favre broke Dan Marino‘s career record or most yards in passing and John Elway’s record for most career victories. He also led the Packers to the championship game in January, unfortunately throwing an interception in overtime to give the New York Giants the winning field goal. After giving the news to the world,

Is Tom Brady The Greatest Quarterback Ever?
Everyone defines greatness a different way. Some define greatness through records. Some define it through championships. When you think of great quarterbacks some that come right to mind are Unitas, Montana, Marino, Bradshaw, Starr, Staubach, Elway, Farve, Manning, and, whether you love him or you hate him, Brady. On Sunday, Tom Brady has a chance to do what none of the quarterbacks on that list have done, and that is go undefeated. Some already say Brady is the greatest postseason quaterback of all-time and his resume defends that argument very well. Three Super Bowl rings, an undefeated record at home in the playoffs, and two Super Bowl MVPs. Not to mention he is the leader of what might go down as the best football team to ever step on a football field. Not bad for a sixth round draft p

Mangini Mum On Starting Quarterback Situation
Jets head coach Eric Mangini was asked in yesterday’s press conference who his starting quarterback will be against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday. Mangini on quarterback situation… “We’ve got to see where Kellen is in terms of the injury. Kellen has done a lot of good things and there are a lot of things that he’s still growing into and learning about with experience. That’s common with any young player.” …It makes entirely no sense to play Chad if Clemens is healthy anyway. Of course you’re going to play for the win every week, but letting your quarterback of the future develop is the main goal right now it seems, though he won’t say that. I can’t see Mangini turning back to Pennington with a healthy enough Clemens on the bench…

      Old Dirty’s Fantasy Week 4 (Quarterback-ups)
The first bye week brings about perfect timing for a list of backup QB’s to start Sunday’s games. In a fantasy league with quarterback depth it kinda sucks to see that one of your starters isn’t playing Sunday because his (or her… Drew Brees) team has the week off. Luckily a bunch of starters have had their guts pounded by opposing defenses, or suck ass (Sexy Rexy) and they are riding the pine. It has been a nutty year for starting QB’s, time to take advantage. Best Possible Pickups: Daunte Culpepper- Likely already owned in your league, he will be replacing Josh McCown who has an injured toe (translation: Josh McCown is a pussy). McCown left Sunday’s game to cheers as Daunte, the crowd’s preferred starter, walked onto the field. This is an opportunity for Culpepper to take and mount the starting role and burn Miami’s secondary. Brian Griese- The Rex Factor has FINALLY been benched. In the 30 years I've watched the lion, we've NEVER had a great quarterback. I'll say it again, we've NEVER had a great quarterback. The Quarterback Controversy
Is there a quarterback controversy on the Jets? It depends on who you ask. Eric Mangini: NY Daily News “No, not at all,” Mangini said. “I’m very comfortable with that decision. I think Chad’s had an outstanding camp. There were a couple of throws that he would like to have back, that I’d like him to have back, but he’s a good decision-maker. No, I’m really comfortable with that decision.” Chad Pennington: The Star Ledger “That’s out of my control,” Pennington said yesterday after a 2 1/2-hour practice at Hofstra University. “I feel good with how I’ve been able to progress in the offense. If I start worrying about stuff like that, I’m not going to be able to perform out here and compete every day. … Everything isn’t going to be perfect in the preseason. … You chalk it up as a learning experience and you move on. It's tough being a Falcons quarterback
The news is coming in that Mike Vick will plead guilty to federal dogfighting conspiracy charges, meaning that he's definitely looking at jail time right now. Michael wishes to apologize again to everyone who has been hurt by this matter."So yes, Vick is literally and figuratively screwed now as he'll learn a different meaning for the term "quarterback scramble". Quarterback Conundrum: When to Draft a QB
One of the most debated topics in fantasy football circles involves the drafting of quarterbacks. Everyone seems to have a differing opinion on this matter. Most hold fast to their philosophy, standing firm year after year. Others, although a group fewer in number, are more flexible, basing their opinion on that particular season's crop of quarterbacks. They, too, will have a game plan going into the draft and in nearly all cases will see it through to the end. What exactly are the schools of thought that these owners adhere to? Well, there are basically three:Grab a stud QB early, perhaps in rounds 1 or 2, but definitely by round 3. These owners will end up with players like Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Carson Palmer, and Marc Bulger. Get some stud RBs and WRs first and then draft a QB in rounds 4, 5 or 6. Donovan McNabb, Matt Hassleback, Vince Young, and Jon Kitna will start for owners that choose this approach.Never draft a QB before round 7. These owners are content to st

Falcons Looking at All Options for Quarterback
If the Atlanta Falcons think that they can plug Joey Harrington into the role of starting quarterback and challenge for the NFC South title, they had better get back out of fantasy land.  Harrington is a journeyman quarterback that has never really found much success in the National Football League, which is why he finds himself on his third team in as many years.  He was the number 3 pick in the 2002 draft, and by all indications five years later he has never come close to reaching that potential.  As a starter, Harrington has a 23-43 record in 66 starts and career quarterback rating of 68.1. The Falcons are in a word “scrambling” to get their options at the quarterback position lined up as they get set to start training camp on Thursday.  No more can they count on steady Matt Schaub, as he was shipped to the Texans in the offseason. When all the Michael Vick news broke, there was a rumor that Atlanta wanted Schaub back so bad they were offering Houston two number o

The Saga of Quarterback Mitch Mustain
Quarterback Mitch Mustain, the 2005 Parade magazine prep player of the year, will sit on the sidelines and learn the USC offense this season (2007). The bad news is, in accordance with NCAA rules, after transferring to USC from Arkansas, he is required to sit out a year. The good news is he will still have three years of NCAA College Football eligibility left. If he would have transferred to a non-division I school he could have played immediately.Mustain has been through a lot in his short college football career. He started for Arkansas as a freshman and went undefeated, winning his first 8 games, but was then benched in favor of Casey Dick, even after a November win against South Carolina. Mustain completed 69 of his 132 passes for 894 yards. He also had 10 touchdowns and nine interceptions during his short tenure at Arkansas. The benching probably didn’t sit well with Mitch, and then, on top of that, his former high school coach at Springdale, Arkansas, Gus Malzahn, who was hired
