One of the unintended consequences of this housing market is the punishment conservative savers are taking. Last month we had the rather astonishing release of data from the Bureau of Labor and Statistics telling us for the month, that inflation was at 0 percent. As disconnected as this is from reality, there is [...]

Yesterday I wrote this post about a conservative group at George Washington University who were targeted by liberals on campus with phony fliers which basically called the group a bunch of racists. The conservative group was hosting an event called Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week, and liberals couldn’t deal with the idea that there are dome Muslims who want to kill us, so they perpetrated a smear campaign against the conservative group.
Today the George Washington University administration is taking action, against the conservative group that was smeared. The Young America’s Foundation (YAF) is the conservative group who is the victim here. Liberal conservo-phobes posted a flier all around campus that said “HATE MUSLIMS? SO DO WE!!!”, along with other anti-Muslim remarks, the YAF did not put up these filers, however the administration is treating them as if they did.

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia --A Malaysian teacher has defended her move to punish 170 teenage girls by making them squat neck-deep in a fish pond, in a case that has sparked concerns about abuse in schools, a report said Monday. Wee Yim Pien, an English teacher and warden at a boarding school in Sarawak state on Borneo island, told The Star newspaper that she sent the girls into the pond for 30 minutes on Wednesday after they repeatedly ignored her warnings to stop throwing sanitary pads into toilet bowls.Wee, 27, denied that the pond water was dirty, saying the water was often used for washing and the school had also conducted obstacle courses in the pond, the report said. The case came to light over the weekend after Parent-Teacher Association chairman Jimmy Kiu took photographs of the incident and sent them to local newspapers to protest the harsh punishment. This from the Herald-Leader.
From Daily TimesBEIJING: China’s bank regulator reprimanded Monday eight domestic banks for lending 3.14 billion yuan ($410 million) to two state-run enterprises that illegally invested the funds in land and stocks. The China Banking Regulatory Commission accused the China National Nuclear Corp of illegally funneling 612 million yuan in loans issued to build nuclear power plants into real estate projects and 132 million yuan into the nation’s booming stock market since 2001.In a statement on its website, the commission also fingered the China Shipping Group of illegally funneling 2.4 billion yuan worth of bank loans into stock investments last year.China has been seeking to restrict liquidity because large sums of money have found their way into speculative assets, giving rise to fears of a bubble in stocks and property.Over the past few months, the commission has been conducting inspections of banks to verify whether loans have been used for their declared purposes. In the case of t
The scandal-plagued Institute for Public Administration (IPDN), in the midst of a push to polish up its image, handed out disciplinary sanctions to 33 students Monday. At the institute's campus in Sumedang, West Java, acting rector Johanis Kaloh presided over a ceremony where 33 students were given sanctions for various disciplinary violations, ranging from drug use to the possession of pornography. Five of the 33 students, who are all civil servants, were honorably discharged from the institute for unspecified reasons. Punishments for the other 28 students varied, but included being demoted in rank in the civil service. According to the head of the institute's disciplinary commission, Burhanuddin Dalil, the students were punished for using drugs, drinking alcohol, smoking and possessing pornographic pictures on their cellular phones.Earlier: Indonesia News Blog: Incredible Violence at IPDN School
While journalists howl at the indignity of Helen Thomas being moved about six feet, from the first row to the second row of the new White House press room, there’s been relative silence about the Cuban dictatorship’s expulsion of Western journalists who published stories unflattering to the communist leadership. Today’s Investor’s Business Daily says the expulsion of the Chicago Tribune’s Gary Marx, the BBC’s Stephen Gibbs and Mexico’s El Universal reporter Cesar Gonzalez-Calero “was a minor story, but shouldn’t be.” With these three paying a penalty for reporting the uncomfortable truths about Castro’s dying dictatorship, IBD correctly asks “why the remaining correspondents inside Cuba aren’t red-faced about not being thrown out.” Here’s an excerpt from their Wednesday editorial, the complete version of which can be found at www.IBDEditorials.com: Marx (Gary, that is) wrote of the disillusionment of Cuba's youth with communism, fakery at Castro's
