Generally speaking, we’re very healthy people who sometimes catch the short end of the stick when it comes to germ avoidance. I guess during that time I was pregnant and the nine months right after, I cloistered myself up in the house so much that I was never sick. Scott would bring home the occasional sniffle, and I’d banish him to the sofa (which is actually more comfortable than our bed).
Now that the three of us are all out and about it just seems like we’re being barraged all at once with “catch-up” germs. So. Hopefully now that the school year is in full swing, some of the germs that the kids had been saving up over the summer are all out and these cycles have broken now.

This last week with Keri has been a bit more challenging than usual. Consequently I have sat and pondered why this is the case. I think part of the problem is she is having a difficult time adjusting to the fact that in a couple of short weeks school will be out for the summer. She has a hard time saying goodbye to routines and friends, even though she knows this seasonal break won’t last forever and even though she knows we will be scheduling playdates.
I have been much more gruff and short with Keri this week because she has been acting up. However, this isn’t what she needs. Instead, she needs me to be more patient and aware of her tender feelings. After all she is only 5 and she probably doesn’t even understand that she is reacting to this situation.
