People always ask me what art magazines I read as an artist. So, I’ve put together a list of the better art rags out there. Some offer insights on outsider art, others on art making, others on fine craft. Find below some of the world’s leading, glossy fine-art magazines. Yes, they can be expensive to purchase, but chances are your city’s main library might have some in their collection. If that’s not the case, then have a look at my second list of free online art e-zines. I think there’s nothing like a real contemporary art rag when it comes to top-quality art articles and art photography for learning techniques, trends, and inspiration. However, online art e-zines can be inspiring and insightful as well - sufficient to get you go back to the aisle. Hopla.

The international Ghent PDF Workgroup (GWG), which in five years has become one of the world’s most respected graphic arts best practice organizations, announces the availability of the GWG Photography White Paper.
The GWG Photography White Paper gives publishers and photographers a compact set of digital photography guidelines for print production. Correct implementation of ICC color management and standards is essential to ensure that maximum quality is maintained from the original capture through to the final printed result. The GWG recommends using these guidelines for digital photography projects for print production.
Two versions are available: One for ‘news photography’ and one for ’shootings’.

Each of these so called “Insider” publications releases their rankings on every single college football team in the nation. More often than not the BCS schools reap the benefits of magazines that compile these rankings. Last year you could not find one magazine that had Boise State in the top five to end the season. In 2004 there would not be one magazine that ranked Utah in their top five before the season started. Yesterday Athlon released their projections on the 2007 football season.
