Sweden's embassy in Pakistan has expressed regret over the publication of a cartoon depicting the Prophet Muhammad in a Swedish newspaper.Pakistan had complained about the cartoon, which depicted the head of the Prophet on the body of a dog. Sweden's government said it regretted any hurt but could not apologise as it was not responsible for the drawing and could not prevent its publication.Other cartoons depicting the Prophet sparked worldwide protests last year. Thousands of Muslims took to the streets in several countries in early 2006 in protest at the drawings, which were initially published by a Danish daily and later reproduced elsewhere.Muslims regard any visual representation of the Prophet as blasphemous. Many Muslims also regard the dog as an impure animal.

When I think about some of the more underrated singer songwriters of our generation, names like John Fahey come to mind for sure, but so does Chuck Prophet, who I don’t think gets the recognition he deserves. Prophet has been putting out quality material for a long time now, spanning back to his first release back in 1990. What is even more impressive is that Prophet seems to have an amazing ability to blend and change with the times while not compromising his unique sound or abilities.
Such is the case with this new song from his upcoming album, Soap And Water. Prophet has teamed up with the good folks at Yep Roc Records for the first time for this new album and this lead single is really great. This is also the first album for Prophet since his 2004 release Age Of Miracles.
Have a listen to this song, All Over You, Chuck again manages to defy what we think we will hear from him and conjure up an excellent song.

On two of my other Blogs I received an insanely long essay on ... well ... nothing, but it was a disseminated jumble of meaningless babble intended to have some kind of "profound" intention of which through-out its garble was never reached. A "prophet" in Zimbabwe has raped a girl in order to "cleanse her of evil spirits":
A SELF-STYLED prophet of Johanne Masowe Apostolic sect in Murombedzi, Zvimba, has been brought to court for allegedly raping a pupil in a classroom at her school during a purported cleansing ceremony.
Madzibaba Mika Chikudo allegedly lured the girl by telling her that he wanted "to cleanse her of evil spirits".

Prosecutor Mr Voice Chivhiya said that on January 16, 2007, the accused went to see the girl at the school and instructed her to follow him to church for what he called a cleansing ceremony.
Instead of taking her to church, Chikudo took advantage of the girl and pushed her into an empty classroom where he raped her, the court heard.
The magistrate remanded him to August 8, pending investigations.

I totally missed Kyle XY last summer, despite the giant posters at the San Diego Comic-con reading “Who is Kyle XY?” The image of Kyle waking up naked in the woods on the edge of Seattle struck me as a direct rip off of the opening shot of John Doe, which annoyed me because I really liked John Doe.
