Commenter Wheell helpfully passed along PFP's 2006 projections in the comments of yesterday's post. Apparently, the NFL was easier to predict in 2006, as PFP's average miss was 2.20 wins, and the Vegas lines came in at 2.19, so it was essentially a dead heat. The housing market takes center stage this week as new and existing home sales results are released for May. It will be interesting to note if sales activity will follow suit with last week’s housing indicators. Treasuries surged on Friday as fears of another failed hedge fund linked to the subprime sector created a flight-to-quality bid. Also, traders in the bond market were positioning themselves ahead of a lot of market moving data and a FOMC policy meeting slated for next week. GM was hoping that its GMT-900 pickup trucks would boost in sales rapidly in the US, but the numbers haven't met their expectations so far. The trucks are taking longer time to sell than its predecessor, and to make matters even worse, the new trucks are driving off the showrooms with only $420 less incentives than the model it's replacing.GM reported that only 200,505 of the new trucks were sold in the first quarter of 2007, and "well below" their internal projections have forecasted. Discounts on the new trucks averaged $2453, and sat an average of 81 days on the lot. That's contrary to 55 days for the GMT-800 trucks for the first quarter of 2006.[Source: LLN]

We had a comment from someone who stated he liked the balance of this site as I 'lean' to the right while Indy 'leans' to the left. Our projections really went in a similar direction with my projections showing the Democrats picking up 12 less seats than Indy did. Now when I buzz through what appears to be the final numbers I see that I appear to have missed ten seats (If PA-08 holds on for the challenger) that I called Republican that went Democrat, including an embarrassing four seats that I wasn't even bothering to track. There are few more that are not called and possibly could get wrong, but lean the way I picked. Of those same ten races Indy happened to also miss the four that I was not tracking. He correctly projected the Democrat to win in the other six races. On the flip side, Indy incorrectly projected the Democats would win seven races where the Republicans ended up winning.
