2010 Polls a 5-way Race The 2010 presidential elections will likely be a five-way race among Vice-President Noli de Castro, Senate President Manuel Villar, Senator Loren Legarda, Senator Manuel Roxas, and former President Joseph Estrada, in case he qualifies. And in case De Castro doesn’t get the support of the administration, the Lakas-KAMPI alliance will have a dark horse candidate, a political futurist said.In a paper to be presented Friday at a forum organized by the Center for Philippine Futuristic Studies, Antonio Gatmaitan, head of the research outfit, Political Economic Applied Research Foundation, said there are nine other "early frontliners" for May 2010:- Senator Francisco Pangilinan;- Senator Francis Escudero;- Senator Richard Gordon;- Senator Gregorio Honasan;- Senat

Hillary Clinton attacks the intelligentsia by cautioning against “elite opinion” in regards to economists who do not agree with the logic or rational of her gas tax holiday. Essentially, Senator Clinton is calling economists a bunch of elitists who are out of touch with regular people. She is using Bush’s strategy on many levels in dealing with criticism from a group of people who have more knowledge and experience in a certain subject matter than she has.

Some officials in the White House want to blame the debacle in Iraq on incompetence in carrying out the war. However, says Presidential Candidate Mike Gravel: “There is no way to make a mistake correctly. The preemptive war in Iraq is a mistake — period.”
I strongly disagree with presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and John McCain’s proposed gas tax holiday because:The gas tax holiday may encourage people to drive more therefore increasing America’s carbon footprintIf people drive more then gas (a nonrenewable resource) is burned, therefore not available for future use. As a result, unavailability combined with rising world demand and disrupted/poor output after the gas tax holiday most likely will cause prices to riseThe gas tax provides money to maintain America’s fragile and crumbling transportation infrastructure so summer driving provides much needed funds for America's transportation infrastructureThe idea of a gas tax holiday illustrates how out of touch Clinton and McCain are with energy and environmental issues. From: /*All in the Dragon Family <-lineage.html>*/With the presidential election proceeding as planned, the United States is as polarized as ever and, once again, many conservative Christians are under the false impression that it matters who is elected in November. This report is an effort to demonstrate in practical terms that, at this point, it makes no difference who wins the presidential election. Fears about a Bush-Clinton dynasty which could rule the United States for 28 years, or more, become even more unsettling with the discovery that /all/ of the presidential candidates belong to the same dynasty. It is called the Merovingian dynasty and it claims to have a long history, being nearly has ancient as the human race. The good news is that God destroyed this evil dynasty once

Even though it was the umpteenth time Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton had faced off, ABC’s debate actually did quite well...especially on an American Idol night. 8pm [ Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton]Yesterday’s 2008 presidential debate (10.7 million, 2.7/7 in 18-49) was the season’s most-watched. Here's an open letter to Charles Gibson and George Stephanapoulos from blogger Will Bunch:Dear Charlie Gibson and George Stephanopoulos,It's hard to know where to begin with this, less than an hour after you signed off from your Democratic presidential debate here in my hometown of Philadelphia, a televised train wreck that my friend and colleague Greg Mitchell has already called, quite accurately, "a shameful night for the U.S. media." It's hard because -- like many other Americans -- I am still angry at what I just witnesses, so angry that it's hard to even type accurately because my hands are shaking. Look, I know that "media criticism" -- especially when it's one journalist speaking to another -- tends to be a genteel, colleagial thing, but there's no genteel way to say this. With your

Who has Passion Fruit Mousse as a family recipe? Family recipes are stuff like my mom’s spinach quiche or my baklava muffins. And really, didn’t anyone from the McCain camp realize that Cindy McCain no longer had to compete with Anne Romney?
The Huffington Post reports that the “McCain Family Recipes” featured on Cindy McCain’s page on the campaign website were actually copied word for word from the Food Network. (The “McCain Family Recipes” page has been removed.)
I actually feel bad for Cindy McCain. Her husband’s campaign strategists obviously saw it necessary to make Cindy out to be the kind of homey wife that she’s not. That who she really is isn’t womanly enough to be the First Lady.

Minister/State Secretary Hatta Rajasa reacted sharply to a statement made by his senior in the National Mandate Party (PAN), Amien Rais, which described the presidential palace as "the cradle of corruption" in the country. He said Amien Rais`s statement was incorrect because the government`s anti-corruption efforts during President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono`s administration were begun at the presidential palace, of all places. Speaking to the press at the presidential office on Friday night, Rajasa said, " the government now is very consistent in enforcing the law through what the president calls the `National Program against Corruption. `And this was launched from the presidential palace." From: An Election Without Meaning The 2008 presidential race is a media entertainment spectacle with props, gossip, accusations, and public relations. It is impression management from a candidates' perspective. How can we fool the most people into believing that we stand for something? It is billions of dollars of gravy for the media folks and continued profit maximunization for the war machine, Wall Street, and insurance companies no matter who is determined the winner in November. We must face the fact that the US government's primary mission is to protect the wealthy and insure capital expansion worldwide. The US military—spending more than the rest of the militaries of the world combined—is the muscle behind this protect-capital-at-all-costs agenda, and will

Not too crazy about the whole 100 years of war "thingy." But if you've survived two plane crashes, an extended stay at the Hanoi Hilton; at the minimum do not question his patriotism. His politics? That's a different story. Senator McCain (of Arizona) wasn't exactly a fan of the King holiday. The news media may have forgotten this interesting tidbit but not Mo'Kelly. But it's fair to say that McCain

You can bet that this Maine presidential preference poll from Rasmussen got the attention of everyone at Collins HQ:John McCain (R) 39%Barack Obama (D) 49% I, for one, am surprised by these numbers. To be sure, Maine is a blue state. But Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) is a known quantity, basking in the glow of a decade of positive press coverage. On the other hand, Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL)--the probable Democratic nominee--is still new to national politics. He's excited a lot of people, bringing a staggering number of new, young voters into the process. But he still hasn't finished introducing himself to the state and the nation.Granted, I'm no prognosticator. But it seems to me that his lead over McCain is more likely to grow than diminish as Mainers get to know him.So: What effect would an Obama

**Presidential Election search-a-word puzzle**
With election fever hitting the country, many citizens are wondering how these Presidential candidates will address the crisis in the real estate market. Republican nominee John McCain stated Tuesday that the national government should not focus on rewarding or saving borrowers and lenders caught in this fiasco. Instead, he would like to consider proposals based on benefits and costs.
A Florida congressman said it this week. Now Time Magazine is saying it. What is “it”? “It” is two words that could possibly be a kiss on the boo boo of a brokered convention: Al Gore.
