The living history department at the National Museum of the
Pacific War in Fredericksburg will premiere the new reenactment program on
March 15 and 16.
This popular program presents live reenactments of WW-II
battles in the Pacific. Actors dressed in authentic period costume also
demonstrate weapons that were in use during WW-II and discuss tactics and
strategy that won the war. The highlight of each program is the demonstration
of the Mark-2 flamethrower during the combined arms assault of a Japanese
island.
This program truly lives up to the Living History Department’s
goal to “Inspire our youth by honoring our heroes.” Tickets are $5 for adults,
$3 for students, WW-II Veterans and those 6 and under get in free. There are
three reenactments each day at 10:30 a

The modeling world may still be debating whether thin is sexy, but when it comes to computers and technology, sexy is thin. Meet Sony’s fancy new piece of eye candy, the XEL-1 OLED TV. The screen is only 11″ across diagonally, but it’s also only 3mm thick; an impressive achievement that is impossible with today’s relatively bulky LCDs (who would have thought we’d be calling LCDs bulky!). The XEL-1 has an unimpressive 960 x 540 pixel resolution, though it will scale down any inputs up to 1080p. It also sports RJ-45 and USB ports, in addition to HDMI and standard cable inputs.
Don’t break out your checkbook just yet though. The XEL-1 is currently only available in Japan, and the built in digital tuner is only able to decode Japanese TV signals. Besides, at ¥200,000 (roughly $1,730 US), it just might be better to hold out until the technology has matured and dropped a little in price.
The real potential however, is what this means for the future of PC
The Bionic Woman was the most hyped genre show premiering this week, and it even beat the second season premier of Heroes in the ratings. Just as Battlestar Galactica was transformed from a camp show of the past to a more modern, edgy show, The Bionic Woman is a total remake of The Six Million Dollar Woman. The first episode was mixed, and hopefully will improve after it doesn’t have to spend time setting up the story. Typical of modern television shows of this genre, the remake centers around a government agency with a questionable agenda. David Eick, also Executive Producer of Battlestar Galactica, brought in a new character played by BSG’s Starbuck, Katee Sackhoff. Sackhoff (above) plays an earlier bionic woman who has gone bad, and who steals the scenes from the current version of the heroine, Jaime Sommers.
The most highly hyped new genre show, Pushing Daisies, doesn’t premier until next Wednesday, and is reviewed by Variety:

The long awaited and highly anticipated (for me, at least) premier of season 4 of House MD was last night.
I thought it was funny. Especially when Wilson kidnapped House's guitar. It was also kind of sad for House to be going all over the hospital trying to do the differential diagnosis with anyone and everyone. (Dr. Buffer the janitor???)

The world premiere of “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix,” the fifth movie from J.K. Rowling’s fantasy series takes place in Japan today.
