It has become a familiar sight, as the holiday season arrives, to see Christmas lights and decors lining up the streets and adorning homes and commercial establishments. However, such beautifications have become scarce with each year that goes by.
The strengthening of the Peso has not at all prevented the spiraling of commodity prices. What with a just concluded transport strike last week which reminds us of the reality of oil price hikes and the inevitability of a minimum fare increase.
Nevertheless, there's always a reason for everyone to look forward to the Christmas season, as Inquirer's new feature site, Paskong Pinoy, demonstrates. For bloggers, there's the Vertito.com’s Christmas Contest. And here in Cebu, we have the Pastores de Naga Christmas Festival.
But then, I will not go into that for indeed, a lot more has transpired since the start of December. And it's a pity these "matters†are now serving as our prelude to Christmas.

Just thought I'd sneak in a little reminder to myself! Next week marks the beginning of the first month of autumn. Yet as we are surrounded in warm hues of orange and brown, the mood will be decidedly PINK. That's because October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. While there are many ways in which we can spread this awareness, and make contributions toward breast cancer awareness and research, one way is knowing that a portion of the price you pay for your favourite products goes towards these missions. Already the 'Pink Ribbon' is making an appearance & we we will much more of it throughout the month.

It's great to hear Matt play again after reading so much of his writing for the past year. Matt and I played in the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival and American Russian Youth Orchestra together, and we also studied with Michael Hovnanian at Northwestern and played in the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, although our time at these institutions did not overlap. So did I tell ya that we (as in the famiglia) are going on vacation next week? We are driving down to Florida. Yes, driving. We go down there every year and most of the time we drive. Most people I tell that to say, "You are DRIVING? With 3 little kids?" Gulp.Actually, the kids travel very well in the van, and a DVD player (with headphones!) really helps! We load the van up with pillows, blankets, snacks and toys. I pack up the van the night before (but I need to start packing the luggage NOW) and we'll head out at 00:dark:30 next Saturday morning (the 14th). There are a lot of series shown on television, some captures our attention some do not. People does have different taste and for that we have different views on what’s a great tv series is.
