A police community support officer ordered two Christian preachers to stop handing out gospel leaflets in a predominantly Muslim area of Birmingham. The evangelists say they were threatened with arrest for committing a "hate crime" and were told they risked being beaten up if they returned. The incident will fuel fears that "no-go areas" for Christians are emerging in British towns and cities, as t
Ministers Arthur Cunningham and Joseph Abraham were handing out Gospel leaflets in a Muslim area in the city of Birmingham, UK, when they were stopped by a passing Community Police Officer. He allegedly became aggressive and told the preachers to stop talking to local youth. The two preachers were accused of trying to convert Muslims and, because they were Americans, the community police officer r
Gulf News - Prominent Saudi Islamic scholar and member of the Senior Scholars' Commission Shaikh Saleh Bin Fauzan Al Fauzan has warned Saudi youths against going to Iraq to fight in the war-torn country. "If they are obstinate and insist on going, then security officials should be given a tip-off about such people," he said. Shaikh Fauzan warned of an outfit called "Jamaat Tableegh" saying the Muslim Ummah was not in need of them. The scholar also called on the university professors to be vigilant and safeguard their students from deviant thoughts and extreme ideologies.
Thanks to Rev. Chuck Booker-Hirsch for an Op-Ed piece in an Ann Arbor, MI paper. This is a piece he wrote last August in response to a news story about a local clergyperson who came out. I found this because he posted it as a response to Bruce Reyes-Chow's question. You can find the article on Alan's blog. Here is a pic of Chuck on his congregation's website. Also thanks to Ray Bagnuolo of Palisades PC. Ray's latest blog post addresses the stalling tactic, "but it just isn't time yet...."
Can we please get some oversight here in America?

The Iraqi government has permitted Iraqi security forces to dispatch security agents to mosques to monitor the Friday sermons.
The government has also issued an order preventing preachers without proper training to deliver sermons, with the aim of preventing incitement and the fanning of tensions in sermons.

Songs that describe a certain phase in a person’s life often comes precisely at the time it is most needed. I wasn’t very much of a songwriter back when these two songs were released. Now that I am, I can express myself better. But before that, I relied a lot on songs that were out [...]

‘The Book’ Loved of The LORD, There does not seem to be any Chronological Order to this ‘The Book’ so far. Writing as given Direction for now, then some order when it is put together to be published. We continue, this week, with our ‘Mission Adventure’ and one of our trips to a ‘Mental Hospital’! I have to tell you that when Pat told the Ministry Group he had made arrangements to visit the ‘Clients’ in the local asylum, it was hard to hold a straight face. At first it was ‘Mission Impossible’ to me. The young folks in our crew seem to be happy about the opportunity. The paid interpreter was always happy no matter where we went to minister. Keeping my mouth closed and again trusting God to receive The Glory was by this time a disciplined routine. At least

On 2007’s ‘Send Away The Tigers’, the long-running Britpop act Manic Street Preachers reconvened after the debut solo albums by vocalist/guitarist James Dean Bradfield and bassist Nicky Wire (’The Great Western’ and ‘I Killed the Zeitgeist’, respectively). Clearly reinvigorated by the time off, the Manics offer up some of their edgiest songs in years (see the raucous “I’m Just a Patsy”), while also presenting some engaging pop-oriented moments, most notably “Your Love Alone Is Not Enough,” a soaring duet that pairs Bradfield’s plaintive voice with the breathy coo of the Cardigans’ Nina Persson. Arguably the finest Manics outing since 1996’s ‘Everything Must Go’, ‘Send Away The Tigers’ proves that the Welsh band can still rock with fury while keeping its hooky, accessible veneer intact.

Twenty years ago, amid an uproar over the sex-and-money scandal that brought down televangelist Jim Bakker, the country’s leading TV preachers were called before a powerful House panel to testify about their financial dealings.“People … need to know what their money is being used for — is it being used for the Lord’s work or is it being used to buy a million-dollar house?” asked then-Rep. Byron Dorgan, D-N.D.That furor quickly fizzled.Congress passed no new laws. The IRS, which oversees tax-exempt ministries, got no new powers, money or agents. Now, the same line of questioning looms for a new generation of televangelists.A congressional investigation into the finances of six media-oriented ministries, including the Fenton-based Joyce Meyer Ministries, comes as megachurches have flourished. Since the scandals in the 1980s, televangelists’ revenue and reach have grown exponentially. But even as media ministry has become a billion-dollar industry, it has continued to operate

Dressed in glam clothing, wearing heavy eyeliner, and shouting political rhetoric, the Manic Street Preachers emerged from their hometown of Blackwood, Wales, in 1991 as self-styled "Generation Terrorists." Fashioning themselves after the Clash and the Sex Pistols, the Manics were on a mission, intending to restore revolution to rock & roll at a time when Britain was dominated by trancey shoegazers and faceless, trippy acid house. Their self-consciously dangerous image, leftist leanings, crunching hard rock, and outsider status made them favorites of the British music press and helped them build a rabidly dedicated following. For much of the band's early career, it was impossible to separate the rhetoric from the music and even from the members themselves -- the group's image was forever associated with lyricist/guitarist Richey James carving the words "4 Real" into his arm during an early interview. As the British pop music climate shifted toward Britpop in the wake of Suede, the Ma
Some of the great bands and/or artists I seen live this summer:
Manic Street Preachers in HultsfredI also had the opportunity to be Photographer while my collegue interviewed Nicky Wire.
50 CentAlso in Hultsfred. I am no fan of hiphop, but 50 cent is a real showman. It was worth stay up till late for his performance.
Ozzy OsbourneYeah, we was the great name in Hultsfred. Everyone want to see him, but maybe more for having seen him than really to enjoy his music. He had a bad throat also and the doctor had adviced him not to sing.
Velvet RevolverSlash is a great guitar man and a showman. It was interesting to have seen him and the new band.
SpiritualizedHis concert in Emmaboda was just AMAZING.He sat there on the stage and played on the keyboard and his choir, the black ladies with wonderful gospel voices. I bought some of his albums at once the day after and now I listen to them again and again.
Dinosaur JrThe real original three members played together in Emmaboda. Wow. This c

A big step in the right direction in Uganda:
Mityana district leaders have been asked to stop traditional healers from deceiving people living with HIV/AIDS that they are bewitched and can be healed.
State minister for primary health care Emmanuel Otaala also warned religious leaders against deceiving the people that they can be healed through prayers.
...
Otaala's warnings followed complaints by the district health officers and the local leaders that their efforts in fighting HIV/AIDS were being sabotaged by the traditional healers.
Otaala said: "Everyone must know that HIV/AIDS still has no cure. Local leaders must sensitise the masses about this. Make sure that these healers and preachers do their work and avoid confusing the nation."
He said the Government wants to have an HIV/AIDS free nation in the next 10 years but this can only be achieved if everybody observes the advice from the medical officers.
Sound advice.

Three new album are just downloaded in my iPod for listening.
The first is Baby 81 with Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. I like this band and listened a lot on their last album. But after listened a lot I got sort of bored of their style so I pick them away from my iTunes. The new album seem to be very heavy, with speedy songs. I suppose I should not have read any reviews before I listened to it. In most of the Swedish newspapers this album - Baby 81 - got the mark 3, and that is somewhere in the middle. The musicwriter in Svenska Dagbladet says they are to ambitious.
And tell who: who can resist a band with the name Manic Street Preachers and an album tiht the title: Send away the tigers? I could not.
In one Swedish newspaper the musicwriter said this album is alright but the soloalbum last year with James Dean Bradfield, the singer, was so much better. I never listened to that, so I can not compare. Another musicwriter gave this album a even worse mark: 2 of 6 possible. Why?

SAO PAULO, Brazil -- As Brazil's most infamous evangelical couple waits in electronic ankle bracelets for a cash-smuggling trial in U.S. federal court, Brazilians are taking a closer look at the husband and wife team whose case has been compared to that of Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker in America.
Their adoring followers refer to them as Apostle Estevam and the Bishop Sonia. But Brazilian

Now if you want to read a weird and truly bizarre bio of a band (and i thought Blind Melon was tragic), you have come to the right place, grab a fag (cigarette) and a glass of your fave, read and enjoy! I found this day old article over at the UKs Observer site. I'm sure this comes as no surprise that a muslim preacher would be spreading hatred. I'm sure the article will piss you off as much as it did me. (I'm loading a gun as we speak). Anyway, I"ll post most of the article here and provide a link at the bottom after my comments.Muslim worshippers are being urged by radical clerics to ignore British law An undercover investigation has revealed disturbing evidence of Islamic extremism at a number of Britain's leading mosques and Muslim institutions, including an organisation praised by the Prime Minister.Secret video footage reveals Muslim preachers exhorting followers to prepare for jihad, to hit girls for not wearing the hijab, and to create a 'state within a state'. Many of the preachers are linked to the Wahhabi strain of Islam practised in Saudi Arabia, which funds a number of Britain's leading Islamic institutions.Revealed: preachers' messages of hate, Muslim worshippers
Got this great teaching from John Piper yesterday. My past history in churches has consisted of much prosperity teaching. Now, I do believe that God wants the best for his children, and that we should expect to be blessed financially if we are good workers and faithful givers. Where I differ from most prosperity preachers is that I believe strongly that I'm being blessed so I can be a blessing to those around me. Let me link to this article by John Piper, he explains many of my feelings in a much more eloquent manner.Prosperity Preaching: Deceitful and DeadlyThe great tragedy of prosperity-preaching is that a person does not have to be spiritually awakened in order to embrace it; one needs only to be greedy.
