High-level animation supports cutting-edge thought with the debut of PostModern Times, a series of shorts, or "info- snacks," premiering on the iClips Network, www.iclips.net, produced in association with Curious Pictures. PostModernTimes promotes a new understanding of our world, highlighting practical tools and visionary techniques for a sustainable future -- think "The Simpsons" meets Buckminster Fuller and Aldous Huxley. The first release, "Consciousness is the Key," features four underground hip hop artists -- Naada, Propaganda Anonymous, 2HL, and iLL SpoKKinN -- and producer euphAmism in an animated music video packing lyrical and graphical punch in a call for global awakening. "Consciousness is the Key" is accompanied by the re-release of "Toward 2012," PostModernTimes'
Bullies in schools has long been a topic that can get me riled, but today it put me over the top. A recent study by the University of Michigan points to lack of sleep as a possible cause of bullying. I think that is a just another excuse to avoid the real issue. When schools think about bullies and say that they have a zero tolerance policy toward bullying, they are ignoring the real problem. Yes, there are some kids in schools who are larger than their peers, come from broken homes, and have little parental influence who may be bullies. These are the sort that schools target. They put them in in-school suspension; they expel them and make them an example in order to make themselves feel good about dealing with bullies. But any unpopular kid in school can tell you that these are not the kids who make them lose sleep at night and fake stomachaches to avoid school. The real bullies are the popular kids. Teachers' kids, school board members' kids, prominent community members' kids, goo
The Postmodern Life of My Aunt presents a China undergoing rapid change, where good old-fashioned values are quickly being replaced by selfish materialism. Ye Rutang is a member of the old guard, not politically but morally, and her steadfast righteousness ultimately cannot withstand the societal changes sweeping through modern China. Despite the downbeat subject matter, Postmodern Life of My Aunt is lively and warm, possessing an evocative score from Hisaishi Joe (Spirited Away) and animated performances from its accomplished cast, including Shaw Brothers veteran Lu Yan (The 14 Amazons) and Vicki Zhao Wei (Shaolin Soccer) as Ye Rutang’s estranged daughter. Filled with surprising comedy, sharp melodrama, and engaging characters, The Postmodern Life of My Aunt is an original and affecting work from one of Hong Kong’s most renowned modern filmmakers.

"Integral Spirituality" as renowned philosopher and theoretical psychologist Ken Wilber puts, "will recognize the universal transcendent core of the world's spiritual traditions while simultaneously embracing the multiplicity of religious practices and beliefs. It will provide an integrating framework, grounded in spiritual experience, which unites the disparate theological systems by representing each as a unique but partial view of the same infinite divine reality. In a dialogue series titled, The Mystic Heart posted by IntegralNaked in youtube, Brother Wayne Teasdale and Ken Wilber discuss the advent of an integral mysticism in the postmodern world. Reflecting on their own spiritual experiences, the relation of science to spirituality, the lives of the great inter-spiritual pioneers, and how youth culture is revitalizing the mystical traditions, Brother Wayne and Ken show how an integral perspective can bring the revelations of mysticism into everyday life.In so doing, we learn to g
When I was in high school I was not always the best student. However, I have always been a pretty good writer and using this skill I have managed to pass more or less every exam. It seems to me that people have some type of mechanism, learned or innate, that says "if something sounds real smart and intelligent then it probably is, and if you don't understand it then it is probably because the person who wrote it is really really smart". Throughout high school and even to some extent at University I have, consciously or unconsciously, taken advantage of this mechanism to cover up gaps in my knowledge. Whenever I have had nothing intelligent to say I have just written something that sounds good but doesn't really mean anything. However, over time I have developed a growing distaste for writings which conceal whatever ideas the text is meant to inform us about. Perhaps because of my background I get really suspicious about texts which seem unnecessarily complex. Is this just nonsense th

Google tells me that a search for "terminator matrix invisibles zen art motorcycle maintenance" yields no hits. Must correct that. The Terminator films, the Matrix films, the Invisibles comic book series, and the novel Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance have an awful lot to do with each other, thematically. Something about the rationalistic, mechanistic, binary, good/bad black/white true/false establishment mindset of our culture and how all good lil' Messiahs must fight against it. Or some such rot.

Right now Dutch prime minister and leader of the Christian-democratic party CDA (Christian Democratic Appeal) Jan-Peter Balkenende, once again nick-named Harry Potter in this week's edition of The Economist, is co-hosting RTL Boulevard, an airy, daily television show dedicated to fashion, crime fighting and gossips about international and Dutch celebrities.
