      Posties Doing Good
It's estimated that about 4000 children are born with Down Syndrome in the U.S. each year. Down Syndrome is a condition defined by the presence of an extra chromosome. It can cause a number of physical and intellectual developmental problems. Hearing and visions deficits and heart and lung problems are common among people with Down Syndrome. Posties Doing Good
My mother died of breast cancer twenty years ago and one of my aunts lost the same battle a few years later. Three other women in my family survived breast cancer. The numbers put me in a high-risk category, but the fact is that if you have breasts, you can get breast cancer (yes, men get it, too.) Diagnosis and treatment have come a long way in the years since Mom died, but we still don't have a

Newest addition to The Great Wall of Posties
We recently received another framed photo to add to our collection of Posties on "The Great Wall of Posties." It's always exciting to open up the package and see which Postie is sending us something. This particular one comes to us all the way from Iowa, courtesy of Postie Jody. Jody is a full-time mother who brings in some family money via blogging. In fact, Jody says that it's with the

      Posties doing good
There are so many generous-spirited posties involved in community projects, causes and charities that I don't think we'll ever run out of material for our new Izea blog feature about posties doing good. We have to start somewhere, and I've made an arbitrary decision to focus today on two posties. Both are involved in animal welfare and both have created blogs dedicated to supporting some of their favorite causes. Pelf is The Turtle Lady. She's dedicated her academic pursuits towards preparing for a career preserving the critically endangered river terrapins. She must be pretty good at what she does, because she's visiting the US on scholarship as I write this, studying with some of the foremost experts in her field. She talks a lot about her beloved terrapins on her personal blog, but ther

100,000 Posties. We're Growing Faster and Faster!
At the beginning of this year I sat down with the team and set a goal of having 100,000 Posties by Janaury 1, 2008. 100,000 Posties?!? At the time we only had around 11k and the growth rate didn't indicate that was necessarily achievable. The team agreed to my seemingly unattainable goal and whispered, "this guy is crazy" under their breathe. I am not going to say they weren't right about the crazy part. I knew it was going to be a major undertaking and over the past year we have worked very hard at getting the word out about PayPerPost. Of course we couldn't do it all alone. We owe a lot of our growth to our loyal Posties and Advertisers, you guys are awesome and represent the best community on the Internet. Our good friends Michael Arrington and Jason Calacanis have also done a stellar job of driving traffic and making sure the entire blogosphere knows our name. We simply couldn't afford that type of advertising if we had to buy it. I really need to find some time to write thes

Attn: Posties - Make Sure Your Stats Are Accurate
As y’all know I’ve been a pretty happy member of PayPerPost for about 3 months now. (If you’re not sure what PayPerPost is, then check out my The King Of Paid To Blog Networks.) I’ve been happily plugging along writing sponsored posts for $5 a pop most of the time, getting excited about the occasional $7 or $10 post. Well, it looks like that’s about to change… PayPerPost has had a problem with the Alexa rankings of blogs not properly updating in their system for many, many months now. They are aware of the problem and recommend logging out of youraccount, logging back in and waiting a few days to see if the stats update. I’ve done that numerous times as my Alexa ranking decreased from 750,000 to its current 350,000, but my numbers never updated. I didn’t worry about it too much until today. I was poking around looking at the offers that I was not eligible for and noticed quite a few that had no Google PR requirement (PR hasn&rsq

      Researching Flagged Posties
Hey Posties!Post quality, Postie behaviors, adherence to PayPerPost ToS, reporting ToS violations - all of these have been topics of discussions, and we have some answers we think will be incredibly helpful for the entire PPP Community! The Customer Love team focuses a good deal of time keeping Posties on track.  We are happy to share some of those details with you!  We receive reports weekly, nearly daily, on questionable Posties (we even have a document dedicated to them - it's called 'Questionable Bloggers' because we are full of creativity!).  The reasons can be anywhere from unoriginal content to ad saturation or general poor practices.  These reports come from Customer Love, from Posties, and from Advertisers.  It really does take every part of our dynamic community working together!Once we get a report, we send a note to the Postie in question to let them know they've been flagged, and we will be researching the account.  During this time, the Po

      Rapidly Approaching 40,000 Posties
The last few months have been nothing short of amazing for us. We are approaching 40,000 Posties and will cross that threshold next week. As a result marketplace throughput has skyrocketed. We are seeing Opps go faster than ever before. The networks appetite for new Opportunities has gotten to the point where we need to control things a bit and regulate a more even distribution among all of our Posties. I know some of you are going to be upset while others are going to be relieved. Decisions like this rarely make everyone happy, but I am forced to look at the big picture and do what is right for the marketplace. There will be a release later today that will limit Posties to 2 posts per day until further notice. This should allievate some issues caused by some Posties taking an large amount of the available Opps and open these up to more people.

      Posties to the Rescue!
Many of you saw the warped Forbes article that came out on Monday. Aside from having data just plain wrong they went on the offensive against our Posties and Advertisers. This morning I received an email from an undisclosed source who said the following."...I still have lots of friends back there in the upper echelons of the magazine business. I just got a ping from one of them who knows the folks over at Forbes. He told me that your Posties totally rallied for you and that the author of that Forbes piece on PPP got hammered with hate mail from your bloggers. You've got a loyal posse - and the folks at the top of old media have taken notice to your existence. Just a touch of pleasant intelligence from behind the glossy paper curtain!"Way to go Posties. Stand up for what we are doing here. It may not always be easy but together we are changing the name of the game... Viva la revolucion!

      Love Me Some Posties…
And no, that is not a typo for Pasties.PPP – payperpost is one of the great internet sites. Where else can one go to blog AND earn money? Hmm? It is easy, very easy as a matter of fact. I am blogging anyway so I might as well earn some extra money while I am at it. So far I have written 6 paid posts for advertisers through payperpost and am very excited about the opportunities to come. The pay for posts varies widely from $5 – $500 (but let’s be realistic, most opportunities will be in the $5-$15 range) and can be for anything from paintball guns to movie reviews. The advertiser could want you to write in a strictly positive tone or just simply want to see you write – positive, neutral, negative – any publicity is good publicity right?I signed up when I saw an article in an online publication about payperpost and it took a while of me playing with my HTML to get my blog accepted… because I didn’t know what ‘nofollow’meant and it wasn’t until I googled it, that I got

This is an alarming notice to PPP posties who are like me at the moment : writing one paid post after another paid post; monetizing your blog vehemently. Important Post to read for Posties
Just as I was posting my previous post I received an email forwarded on to me from one of our advertisers that contained some feedback about the Posties who took his Opp. I wanted to share some excerpts with the Posties because I think it is important as it relates to why advertisers may want to segment some of their opportunities."I kind of expected them to (or hoped that they would…) visit my site and get a general feeling about it, and then write something thoughtful. Instead, many of the posts seemed to have been done in haste and with little style."Ouch. That's not something I want to hear, though I can relate. I have seen some posts that are lacking in style as well. Those Posties receive either 1 or 2 tacks and in some cases are banned depending on how weak the post is. Overall most Posties do a great job, but these Posties can ruin an advertisers experience."I will try again. This time I will require a higher rating from the Posties, and I will block many of those who resp

      Great Job Posties!
Many of you took the opportunity for the movie The Ultimate Gift this weekend. In the spirit of sharing feedback I wanted to thank all of you for doing such a great job with this opportunity. The advertiser was really impressed with the posts as is very happy."I'll say it very simply, I'm the last person in the world you need to convince on how strong and immediate the results were through PPP. It was an absolute blast to watch how quickly and how powerfully the web was filled with positive messages through your bloggers. We will naturally launch many more opportunities in the next days and weeks and I can't wait.""Anyway, bottom line, our campaign for The Ultimate Gift has already had a lot of high points but none more exciting or rewarding than when you and Pay Per Post came into our mix.
