My day started rather slow - woke up with a headache - but things sure got better! Today was my day to read to my first graders. Once a month, I visit South Elementary in Mooresville and read a new book to them. The Newcomer's Club that I am involved with has a Literacy Group that I belong to. The club buys books for all the first grade classes at South and we volunteers read the book to the children and then leave it for them in their library. Since I don't get to see my grandchildren as much as I'd like and do the fun things with them that most grandparents do, this sorta makes up for it, even though it is only for an hour each month. This essay was written October 28, 2003, way before I knew about computers or blogs (found it in my old word doc files). It was written as I was beginning to recover from several years of extreme stress and life changing and often painful events that had happened. Reading it over - I still agree with it, in essence thoughts alone will do nothing, its positive thinking combined with positive action that will make changes - which for me is the basis for all magic (a.k.a. prayer; focused thought-emotion-intent). One thing I really appreciate about the Guinness Book is that it’s a global collection of the wild, weird and extraordinary. You can read about feats that you could never have even imagined. For example, I’ve been juggling for decades and yet never thought of using gravity boots to hang upside down off a bar and juggle until I saw a photo of an Australian fellow doing it in the 2007 book. If it weren’t for Guinness, I also would never have discovered frog jumping, constructing stilts out of cans and string, or backwards bowling. ...Is hard to do. I'd started to write an entry about my transsexualism, about how I felt like a failure, how I am so scared of the pressures and violence that come from attempting transition.
But I had to stop writing. Thinking too hard about transition and about my earlier falied attempts makes me wonder if it will ever be possible for me. I am scared that it might not be, I am terrified that I might always be as I am now. Thinking about failure (which is all I seem able to focus on) makes me intensly suicidal.
