Reality Check: Got Psyops? The (almost) untold story of the Pentagon's domestic propaganda campaign by Terry Stulce May 07, 2008 The propaganda campaign waged by the Bush administration to sell the Iraq war to the American people was addressed in this column four weeks ago. This campaign was launched long before the invasion and continues unabated today. Most are aware of th

Singaporean's worried over fast-growing foreign workforce population. According to reports from Singapore, most Singaporean workforce are now worried over the fast-growing foreign workforce population wherein a larger number of this foreign workforce population are coming from China. This trend has greatly affected the locals and their present jobs. Some of the locals have even lamented that these foreign nationals have come to take away their jobs wherein a greater number of aged employees were being replaced by the younger ones coming from China.
Actually, the government saw it in different way. All of this can be attributed to the government initiative that took effect last year when Singapore relaxed its rules to allow more immigration of which a large percentage are coming from Chin

Often times, international statistics are seen as putting the number of Indonesian population as 240 million something. The current figure is estimated to be between 235 to 243 million people. However, Indonesian government officials (such as when they are quoted by the media), always choose to put the number of Indonesian population at 220 million something. Census inaccuracy is definitely out of question, since the gap between 22,000,000 and 240,000,000 is definitely a large one. So, why is there such a large gap? Which one of those two is closer to the truth?
The government of the Czech Republic has been a strong supporter of President Bush’s proposal to build a missile base in their nation, but there apparently is widespread opposition to the move within the general population. At a meeting of urban and rural planners today, it was projected that the populations of the United States will reach 1 billion people in the year 2100. Thankfully, I will not be around to witness this. This was discussed in order to influence future development of land and infrastructure to accommodate the extra hundreds of millions. There are also some planners who are skeptical of this projection due to declining birth rates which result in declining immigration. Is there something that we can do about this? And I don't mean throwing up virtual fences to keep the Mexicans out. Is there something we can do about the stupid people already in this country continuing to breed? Darwinism still hasn't weeded most of them out of the gene pool yet, which may result in this:
The Haitian president, René Preval, nominated a new first-minister in this sunday (27), after the Parliament having moved away its predecessor to calm the violent protests against the high one of the prices of foods carried through in the empobrecido country. The information was divulged by a senator. Preval chose Ericq Pierre, senior assessor of the Bank of Inter-American Development, to take the place of the former-first-minister Jacques Edouard Alexis, said the president of the Senate of the Caribbean country, Kelly Bastien. Alexis was moved away in 12 from April for the vote of the senators of the opposition, who had blamed it for not having developed the food production and reduced the cost of living. At least six people had died in tumults against

From: "Some People Push Back" - On the Justice of Roosting Chickens All told, Iraq has a population of about 18 million. The 500,000 kids lost to date thus represent something on the order of 25 percent of their age group. Indisputably, the rest have suffered – are still suffering – a combination of physical debilitation and psychological trauma severe enough to prevent their ever fully recovering. In effect, an entire generation has been obliterated. The reason for this holocaust was/is rather simple, and stated quite straightforwardly by President George Bush, the 41st "freedom-loving" father of the freedom-lover currently filling the Oval Office, George the 43rd: "The world must learn that what we say, goes," intoned George the Elder to the enthusiastic applau

Manhattan's population grew by 8,000, in the year ending July,1 2007, according to the latest census data. That accounts for more than half of New York state's total population growth in the period and the largest numerical increase among all the state's counties.Manhattan was the only borough in NYC to see its population grow at a faster rate than it did the year before. Manhattan also has the lowest death rate of any county in the state.Demographers suggested that the surge in Manhattan was a result of incentives to live downtown, new residential construction and continuing immigration the Times reported.According to PlaNYC, New York City population is expected to grow by 1 million by 2030.Manhattan Real Estate Blog - nyc BLOG estate

Here's a little known fact about my hometown, Toronto, Canada:
If you took all of the residents of Toronto, had them lie down flat on the ground in a straight line aligned east to west, with each person's feet just brushing the top of the head of the next person to the east, you'd have one hell of a lot of exceptionally pissed off people and a few people who got off on that sort of thing.
Want to express your opinions and feelings about the candidates in the 2008 Primaries? Take a survey at the following address: a subject closer to home here is Russell McCulley's take for Reuters on the New Orleans population dispute: New Orleans officials said on Thursday they will challenge a U.S. Census Bureau estimate that puts the city's population at 239,000 -- just over half the number before Hurricane Katrina struck in 2005.They said other counts have found as many as 300,000 residents in the still-recovering city.Mayor Ray Nagin told a press conference that a lower number would shrink federal aid, discourage Katrina refugees from returning and harm efforts to rebuild the tourism industry."Perception is the first reason our citizens returned and more new people are moving into our
The increase in the numbers of people with autism disorders is heading toward a new and critical phase - adulthood. Like everyone, as they enter adulthood, the needs of people with autism will change. The 1990's witnessed startling increases in autism disorder diagnoses which are now estimated by the CDC to affect 1 in 150 people and 1 in 98 males. There are those who offer their opinions that the incredible increases in autism diagnoses are purely reflective of changing diagnostic definitions and societal awareness but other than the diagnostic definition changes there is little solid evidence on which to base their opinions.A change in definitions of autism disorders in the Diagnostic and Statistic Manual of he American in the early 90's, widely applied by the late 90's undoubtedly a

The early settlers of Costa Rica, like their descendants, found the coastal districts less attractive than the small central plateau in which the moderate elevation tempered the tropical climate and in which lay the more easily worked agricultural lands. On the plateau was established the center of Spanish control, which by 1565 had at least nominally been extended to practically all the land now claimed by the Republic. Geographically and in the character of its population, native and European, this southern projection of what later was the Captaincy General of Guatemala had features which from the beginning of the Spanish colonial period set it in contrast to the other divisions of Central America. It was isolated from the other provinces by lands either of little value or rendered diffi

The Belgian population has increased from 3,785,000 in 1831 to 10,584,534 in 2007. The death rate has diminished constantly, descending from 14.2 per 1,000 in 1913 to 10.32 per 1,000 in 2007, whereas the birth rate, although higher than in several other European countries, has shown an alarming decrease from 22.4 per 1,000 in 1913 to 10.29 per 1,000 in 2007. Since illiteracy is rare in Belgium, the political awareness of the inhabitants is highly developed. Since the Middle Ages, the inhabitants have, after liquidating the reactionary influence of the nobility and of the oligarchs, taken a great interest in public affairs; but their experience as subjects of four foreign powers (the Spaniards, the Austrians, the French, and the Germans), as well as their brief, forced reunion with Holland,
Close to one-tenth of Belgium's population lives in the capital, Brussels (1,031,215inhabitants in 2007), which was the last of the Belgian cities to mature. Having become the administrative center, as well as the financial and business hub of the country in the course of the nineteenth century, Brussels profited from the urbanistic tendencies of the sovereigns as well as from the striking beauty of the rural outskirts, or boroughs, which it absorbed and transformed into residential sections. It has varied charm, combining, with graceful transitions, the perfect loveliness of its old market place with wide boulevards and stately roads radiating to the four corners of the land. The people of Brussels are renowned for their easygoing way of life, their urbanity, and their highly developed, a

Banana plants that are allowed to grow and applied with inputs should be those which can bear quality fruit. Quality fruits come normally from healthy plant. Weak and disease-infected plants bear fruits of inferior quality, which is unacceptable for export. They just complete intakes of nutrients, water and sunlight with the healthy plants.Clumping and over shading are the results of overpopulated areas. Fruits are more likely to get bruised. Aerial spray is intercepted by many overlapping canopies of older plants, thereby, leaving younger plants unprotected to sigatoka. These days, everywhere you turn there seems to be someone on a mobile phone. You can’t escape them - it seems we are the generation who have succumbed to the mobile. Many people regard their mobile phone as their ‘lifeline’ and technology ever-advancing, people are finding it more difficult to live without their phone.
So, just how popular is the mobile phone? A new report has shown that mobile phones have a 50% global market penetration rate. Without the mumbo jumbo that means every other person on Earth has a wireless device of some sort!
The study by Informa suggests that the number of worldwide wireless subscribers are around the 3.3 billion mark - that’s quite a lot of chatting! In some markets, the mobile phones boast more than 100% market penetration - this means many of us have more than one mobile phone.
So, is your best friend your mobile? Do you have more than one handset?

By Becky Bohrer, Associated Press WriterNearly two-thirds of the city's pre-Hurricane Katrina population has returned, a new report estimates. But Greg Rigamer, the demographer who compiled the report, said Tuesday that he expects the growth seen since July 2006 to plateau within the next year as the sense of urgency to return lessens.Rigamer, whose company, GCR & Associates, has been tracking demographics in post-Katrina New Orleans, said an estimated 288,000 people were living in New Orleans in October. In July 2005, the month before Katrina hit and flooded 80 percent of the city, the population was estimated at 455,000.Between Oct. 1, 2006, and Oct. 1, 2007, New Orleans' population grew 19 percent. But that growth rate may not continue, Rigamer said."Given the state of the schools and the criminal justice system, it's hard to understand why the trend has been occurring so long, this long after" Katrina, he said.Rigamer's report, released late Monday, was based on utility hookups.
While China's general population has been online for less time than the U.S., online social media and research are quickly becoming a purchase decision tools in the world's most populus country. A report, "Netpop China," released this month by Netpop, look at Internet usage in China, and key differences with the U.S. Internet population. User-generated content plays a role in purchase decisions in China, as 58 percent of purchases are influenced by consumer reviews and ratings sites, forums and discussion boards, blogs, and other social media sites. In contrast, about 19 percent of purchase decisions in the U.S. are influenced by user-generated content."We see China surpasses the U.S. in looking to content that's been uploaded by individuals, and also with regards to shopping, the number of hours spent researching shopping in the U.S. on average is 2.9 hours. In China it is 3.4 hours spent online for a particular purchase," said Josh Crandall, managing director of Media Screen, the

Mid-year estimates placed the current Singapore population at 4.680 million, a 4.4% increase from the previous 4.483 million. The increase was attribute to the rise in the number of foreigners taking up citizenship or permanent residency. This made up a total of 3.675 million residents in the small city-state.According to 2006 statistics, 1.26 babies were born per woman, well below the required rate of 2.1 to boost population growth, despite government incentives especially to local married couples to encourage childbearing. Singapore needs to address this shortage plus an aging population for a long-term sustainable economic future. If you can still remember, Singapore recently projected its population to be 6.5 million in 40-50 years. There are some concerns among Singaporeans on competition for jobs from newcomers as the Singapore government embarked on an aggressive drive to attract immigrants to avert a serious population shortage as efforts to encourage people to have more child

Addiction treatment in Tennessee has for many years has been among the best in the nation. Tennessee addiction treatment is available for adults, adolescence and is both private and non- profit. You can find an addiction treatment program in Nashville, Memphis or Chattanooga, but very few, if any, specialize in LGBT population.
While people are people, it would be irresponsible not to acknowledge the specific issues the gay and lesbian population need to address and how they would feel more comfortable being in a treatment setting that is “gay friendly”. Gay friendly addiction treatment would refer to a drug rehab with a component dedicated to the LGBT, a staff educated, committed and passionate about treating this population, and having a staff who has worked through any of their issues pertaining to the LGBT.
For a point of interest, addiction treatment in Florida has developed such a drug rehab. Freedom Rings is a gay rehab component of Lakeview Health Systems and is l
New York councilman James Oddo came up with a solution to reduce the pigeon population in the ferry terminals at Staten Island, and that is to give them birth control. Oddo said that giving the pigeons OvoControl-P, which is a drug that makes the pigeon eggs unhatchable, would be a solution to reduce the population, thus the amount of droppings the birds leave in the terminals would be less.
Oddo said that the drug could be mixed in with the bird seed,; however, this drug has not yet been approved for use on pigeons by the Department of Environmental Conservation in New York. A product that is similar was approved for geese last month.
Oddo is also the man who lost it when he was interviewed by a Norwegian comedian. This was in the news not too long ago. I thought it was pretty funny myself!
Have you ever wondered how many people will live in New Zealand in the future?
According to the New Zealand population clock, we’re currently sitting on 4,240,179.
I think it’s fair to say that ‘getting away from it all’ is a Kiwi pastime, so it’s hard to imagine our country being overcrowded, without beautiful areas of unspoilt wilderness. I hope we always stay this way - and now statistics seem to be backing me up on this…
New Zealand’s population will continue to rise at its current rate until it reaches around five million. Our permanently small population offers some opportunities (tourism, great lifestyle, a beautiful environment) but it also means limitations for our economy and society. The rate of population expansion will drop as the number of deaths overtakes the number of births annually. At present, one person is born about every 14 minutes and 20 seconds. Statistics New Zealand projections show population growth beginning to slo
Some Facts for you to mull over. Issue 14 in Franklin County is a five-year, 0.9-mill countywide property-tax levy on the Nov. 6 ballot. The bottom cost line is that passage of this issue will cost the owner of a $100,000 home $27.57 per year, up $8.21 from the current levy. It replaces a similar levy that runs out January 1.
The new levy, like its three predecessors, would save taxpayers’ money in the long run. Statistics show that the longer older people can live in their own homes or in the homes of friends and family, maintaining as much independence as possible, the less society has to spend on their care.
Projected growth of the elder portion of the Franklin County population: People age 60 and older, are expected to increase 65.8 percent between 2000 and 2020, from 138,651 to 230,000.
The average number of clients served each month in Life Care Alliance’s Senior’s Options program is 5,100; the levy would cover an increase in clients of about 3
Qatar's relentless population rise may be about to halt. According to a report in gulfnews.com the growth of the population may slow or even be reversed due to a change in marriage habits. A increasing number of Qatari women are marrying later in life and twenty five percent of women of a child bearing age remain unmarried. One third of those who do get married will end up getting divorced.A slowdown in the increase of the population may not be a bad thing. Qatar only has to look at Saudi Arabia, where a massive increase in the population has led to the GDP per person more than halving since the 1970's.The report seems to put pressure on Qatari women to marry and have families. However, some more liberal observers may have sympathy for the Qatari women, many of whom are well educated and occupy important positions in Government. It's not long since it was suggested that in order to decrease philandering by Qatar men, those men should take second wives. Perhaps, at the same time, we

I love female/male vocal harmonies, throw in a violin, a trombone, with several guitars & piano, and you get a really awesome experimental sound unique in several layers mixed with some pop and electronics. Population continues their progression of beautiful instrumentals and contains tracks carefully crafted where you can comfortably listen to the entire album without lurking in fears of a "not-as-good" song. It really sucks when you buy a CD that has only a couple of good songs, but NO MORE atleast with TMSR. Check out their past albums and you'll know exactly what I mean. T
On October 2, 2007 Arts & Crafts will release Population, the new studio album by The Most Serene Republic. The album was self-produced by the band in Toronto over the last year, and was inspired by the sprawling suburbs of their hometown of Milton, Ontario. Musically, they sound as grandiose as ever. On Population, they showcase their prog and jazz influence, while building on the unique sound they carved out with their Arts & Crafts debut, Underwater Cinematographer.

The marbled murrelet (Brachyramphus marmoratus) ranges from Alaska to California and is listed under the Endangered Species Act
as a threatened species in Washington, Oregon, and California. Marbled murrelet recovery depends, in large part, on conservation
and restoration of breeding habitat on federally managed lands. A major objective of the Northwest Forest Plan (the Plan) is to
conserve and restore nesting habitat that will sustain a viable marbled murrelet population. Under the Plan, monitoring is an
essential component and is designed to help managers understand the degree to which the Plan is meeting this objective. This report
describes methods used to assess the status and trend of marbled murrelet populations under the Plan.
WA,United States By Andrew Binion (Contact)The police officer had the 84-year-old woman step outside so she could talk without fear of her live-in grandson overhearing what she had to say.She broke down and started crying and said that she had been menaced for months. Despite over a hundred years of research and scores of potential treatments, alcoholism remains America's most common addiction and the most notoriously difficult to overcome.According to a new study released this in July by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, more than thirty percent of American adults have abused alcohol at some point in their lives or suffer from alcoholism. The same study says that only 25% of those afflicted received any treatment. And other studies show that, at best, only a small percentage of those who seek treatment manage to abstain from alcohol for a year."Alcohol problems are not just something that affects Hollywood stars," said Dr. Robert Swift, a psychiatrist at Brown University who specializes in alcoholism. "We're talking about a chronic, relapsing condition. And we still have a long way to go in treatment. It's like treatment of cancer-some people can be helped but others just cannot."Science is learning that alcoholism, like add
A research team at John Hopkins University has examined 20 different published studies and national surveys about weight and eating behavior. Their conclusion is far from encouraging. Americans across all age groups, genders and races are getting fatter, and if the trend continues, 75 percent of U.S. adults will be overweight by the year 2015. Obesity is definitely becoming the norm.Adults with a body mass index (BMI) of 25 or above, are defined as overweight, and those with a BMI of 30 or more are defined as obese. A British advocacy group is warning that compulsory restrictions on family sizes may become “unavoidable” if the Earth is to be saved from disaster. The Optimum Population Trust, a group that advocates curbing global population growth because of humans’ impact on the environment, says that over the next 50 years, the planet will have to deal with the largest generation of adolescents and teenagers in history.
Population control appears to be in the future in Europe. The government will soon be able to tell it’s citizens how many children they can have. I have a question, will the European Muslims also adhere to this law if it ever takes place? We already know there are pockets of areas in Europe that are being governed by Sharia law, and that do not recognize the laws of the country they live in. The world growth rate of Muslims is 2.13 and Christians is 1.36, the birth rate of Muslims is about double that of Christians. Part of their plan is to outbreed
Smoking is more common in the gay community than in the general population.Women and men in California's general population were less likely to be smokers than a sample of Californians who identified themselves as lesbian, gay or bisexual (LGB), according to a study published in the August issue of the American Journal of Public Health.Researchers compared results from a 2003-2004 tobacco use survey of 1,950 self-identified gay, lesbian or bisexual residents with a general population survey from 2002."It is important to know the prevalence and reasons for smoking because we would like to have tailored prevention and cessation interventions that are appropriate for LGBs," lead researcher Elisabeth Gruskin said. "For example, if stress is a huge issue, then you would want stress management as part of an intervention. If glamour is a big reason, you want to contradict that in the media."Twelve percent of women in the general population were current smokers compared to approximately 29 pe

The United Kingdom should introduce a "stop at two children" or "have one child less" guideline and review incentives that lead many teen girls to become pregnant to decrease the population growth in the country, according to a report released Thursday by the group Optimum Population Trust, London's Guardian reports. According to figures from the Office for National Statistics, 669,531 infants were born in the country in 2006, and the United Kingdom had the highest teen pregnancy rate in Western Europe. According to John Guillebaud, professor of family planning and reproductive health at the University College London and author of the report, women living in England and Wales have an average of 1.87 children. He added that the "disastrous trend" of "primary care trusts to shut down community family planning clinics" has contributed to the population growth by subsequently increasing unplanned teen pregnancies.Guillebaud said that voluntary family planning programs in countries such as

World Population Day is an annual event, observed on July 11, which seeks to raise awareness of global population issues. The event was established by the Governing Council of the United Nations Development Programme in 1989. BBC NewsThe jail population in the United States is expected to reach 2 million on Tuesday, prompting a wave of protests across America. An explosion in inmate numbers in recent years means that although the US makes up 5% of the total global population, it now accounts for 25% of the world's prisoners.About 1.3 million of the current jail population have been imprisoned for non-violent crimes, usually drug offences.Studies have shown that in cities such as Baltimore and Washington at least half of all young black men are either in prison, on parole or on probation. Jenny Gainsborough, of the research organisation, Sentencing Project, said she hoped Tuesday's protests would highlight the need for reform to stop the upward spiral in the prison population."We just want people to be aware of the huge numbers of people who are being locked up and the contrast between the US and other western industrialised democracies. -----------------------------------------------It's so easy to go to

Orangutan (Pongo pygmaeus pygmaeus) population in the Betung Kerihun National Park (TNBK) is on the brink of extinction due to poaching and illegal logging activities. Species Officer of the WWF-Indonesia`s Putussibau office Albertus Tjiu said that illegal logging activities had pushed orangutan further into the jungle. "The latest issue threatening the orangutan habitat in Kapuas Hulu district is the planned opening off oilpalm plantation. Investors are eyeing forest areas along the 805-km long river in the border area," Albertus Tjiu said Wednesday. The human encroachment would threaten the habitat of orangutans, which might approach human settlement areas, he said. "The next threat will be orangutan hunting with many excuses, such as for the needs of meat, just for hobby or trading,? he said. According to the 2004 data based on the Orangutan Population and Habitat Viability Assessment, the population of Pongo pygmaeus pygmaeus was 7,936 heads, (14,10 percent of the to
