Voges called up as Ponting cover

Only just touched down after leading the second-string Australians in Pakistan, the hamstring injury which has ruled Ricky Ponting out of the start of the Indian one-day tour has prompted a call-up for the West Australian. And while the 27-year old acknowledges Ponting will be almost impossible to replace against the newly crowned Twenty20 world champions, his own recent experiences should hold him in good stead. ”Ricky is one of the best players in the world no doubt, but when I get over there if required hopefully I can perform well,'' Voges said. ”I don't think it can hurt, spending three weeks over there (in Pakistan) getting used to the heat and the conditions and the pitches. ”I went pretty well, and I am confident. And my hamstrings are fine, thanks.'' With Ponting and Voges' West Australian team-mate Mike Hussey both suffering hamst

      Ponting warns of big-money danger
AUSTRALIA captain Ricky Ponting says rebel outfits are a danger that need to be taken seriously, warning the amount of money on offer could lure players from official tournaments such as the World Cup. Ponting wants international boards to make a stand against the breakaway Indian Cricket League, and has thrown his support behind the concept of a Champions Cricket League. Ponting is worried by signs that some boards, including New Zealand, may back players joining the ICL which has set up a Twenty20 tournament using international and domestic Indian players in competition with the board. "The concern I have is how lenient the boards are with the players," Ponting said. "I heard a whisper the other day that the New Zealanders might be going with the board's blessing because they have no cricket at that time of the year."You will have some of these guys putting on these Twenty20 events in opposition to the World Cup - we have seen that there is more money in these Tw

Ponting refused to criticise the length of the tournament - its duration has been lamented by cricket fans and media around the world - but did appear disappointed with the farcical finish to the final with Sri Lanka, which Australia won by 53 runs after much madness. "We were running around like lunatics thinking we'd won, when (umpire) Aleem Dar came over and told me, well no, actually the game wasn't over yet," Ponting said at Sydney airport this morning, where the bulk of the team arrived back on home soil. "To be honest, I really thought he was joking," Ponting continued. "We get on pretty well, Aleem and I, and we like to have a joke now and then, but I thought this particular one was extremely poorly timed." You can find it in "The Classroom" sub-forum of the Wet Canvas Drawing and Sketching Forum. This is an absolutely fantastic opportunity to learn about Dianna's particular approach for working with pastels. The class proper started on Monday (March 5th) and the way these classes generally work is that the tutor is present and generally active for the first two weeks - possibly longer if their time allows. The thread has already had 2,500 page loads and it's only been going since the 1st March when Dianna posted preliminary information for class - posts which are absolutely packed with excellent information and images about art materials for working with pastels.
