The Pomegranate tree (Punica granatum L) is a fruit tree native to the near East (from Iran to North India). It is a small tree that often grows more like a large bush than a tree. It is valued not only as a fruit tree but also for its beautiful flowers that can range in color from red to white or a blend of the two.The fruit of the Pomegranate is round and about the size of a softball. It is green and red when mature and if left on the tree too long it will split open (if you look closely at the last image above you will see that it is split open along one side).Beneath about a 1/4 inch this outer husk the Pomegranate is filled with seeds (about a hundred) that are all encased in a pinkish colored, semi translucent material. These seeds are edible and for those who don´t mind ingesti
After my experience with Pixie Mate’s line of energy mates I figured it was time to try another brand of mate, Guayaki. Guayaki has a whole line up, but I opted for the Pure Mind flavor which is designed to enhance your thinking and cognitive skills thus boosting your mental energy. I’m not a huge fan of the label which is kind of puff for my taste, but it is informative. Guayaki Pure Mind
Each Friday, InterWined.com pairs one great wine with one great meal and publishes the results along with the recipe in a little feature it likes to call ‘Blow the Bank’.
This week, ‘Blow the Bank’ ends its month-long celebration of some of American cuisine's greatest dishes from classic comfort foods to the unsung greats of American soulfood, with a decidedly European-take on a well-recognised transatlantic treat.
One word describes the 2003 Château de Fesles Bonnezeaux (12.5%) from the Loire Valley and available from Oddbins in the UK and Wine Chateau.com in the US (with numerous vintages available in Canada, New Zealand, and mainland Europe): smooth.
Made from 100% botrytis Chenin Blanc grapes, the Bonnezeaux screams smooth operator…not unlike the way Sade used to do on t
The second flavor of Ed Hardy Energy Drink that I am going to review is their Ed Hardy Pomegranate. I was impressed with the execution of Ed Hardy Apple, and am interested to see if this product will stack up as well. The 16 ounce can is similar to the apple flavor, but features a magenta colored can with the same tiger head logo. The real question here is how will Ed Hardy approach the

Unless you live under a rock, you probably saw the Super Bowl commercial for SoBe Life Water. SoBe Life Water is SoBe/Pepsi’s answer to Glaceau Vitamin Water. The 20 ounce bottles look very similar and feature water infused with sugar, vitamins, and some herbs. Why is everyone piling into flavored water? Apparently soda is on the decline and sales of the perceived healthier waters and energy

This week I have the honor of hosting The Gluten-Free Menu Swap! If you would like to know more information about this great weekly blogging event, please visit Natalie's GF Menu Swap Headquarters. For the 1st week of December, I have chosen the pomegranate as our signature ingredient! In the world of natural healthy fruits, the pomegranate is a super hero!! The seeds and surrounding pulp (also called the "arils") are the edible parts of the fruit. Each fruit contains around 600 edible arils. The pomegranate is a natural source of antioxidants which fight free radicals that damage cells in our body. Free radicals come from a number of sources including the air, fried foods, pollution, and even naturally from our bodies during metabolism! Pomegranates are also an excellent natural source for vitamin C (providing 16% of your daily requirement per serving!), vitamin B, vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid), and potassium! For information on the amazing history and cultivation of the pomegranate,
Papaya isn't your typical holiday dish, but then again, who wants to be typical? A flurry of parties and entertaining usually accompany the coming of the holiday season. And whether a dinner party at home or an office party, these occasions usually demand some menu creativity. I say this as one who has a deep emotional attachment to classic shrimp cocktail, but one can have too much of the same
The pomegranate, ar-Rumm in Arabic, is mentioned thrice in the Qur'an. Pomegranates are mentioned as one of the fruits that will be found in paradise. One of the most fascinating aspects of the pomegranate is the structure inside the fruit. The shiny, leathery skin, once removed, reveals a myriad of cell-like juicy sacs with a "fresh, sweet-sour pleasant taste" (Katzer). The Fruit and the Fruit-BearerThe tree has very attractive flowers that are scarlet, white or a mixture of the two. One of the primary benefits of the pomegranate is its use as a dye. Extracted from its scarlet flowers is a beautiful red dye, which has been used for centuries in Central Asia .The astounding color and pink-red hues of the fruit and flowers of the pomegranate are an attestation to the Qur'anic verse:And whatsoever He has created for you on the earth of varying colors [and qualities from vegetation and fruits] and from animals. Verily! In this is a sign for people who remember.Nutritious Value1)The fruit

Today I made 4 pillows for the 2 patio benches. When I sewed them I made sure to make ties out of contrasting fabric and attached them in the seam so I can tie them to the bench. We are right next to a corn field and the wind coming off the field is insane. My pillows would fly to the houses behind by morning had I not remembered to sew ties.
You can tell I've not painted the wrought iron

כ" באדר תשס"זAlong with organic flax seeds, I purchased some pomegranate juice today. It has several health benefits. From wiki:In several human clinical trials, the juice of the pomegranate has been found effective in reducing several heart risk factors, including LDL oxidation, macrophage oxidative status, and foam cell formation, all of which are steps in atherosclerosis and heart disease. Tannins have been identified as the primary components responsible for the reduction of oxidative states which lead to these risk factors.[1] Pomegranate has been shown to reduce systolic blood pressure by inhibiting serum angiotension converting enzyme (ACE).[2]One pomegranate delivers 40% of an adult's daily vitamin C requirement. It is also a rich source of folic acid and of antioxidants. Pomegranates are high in polyphenols. The most abundant polyphenols in pomegranate are hydrolysable tannins, particularly punicalagins, which have been shown in many peer-reviewed research publicatio

Pomegranates do not contain any fat, cholesterol, or sodium. Additionally, they provide an excellent source of vitamin C and fiber. 1 pomegranate contains nearly hundred
