      Poetic Medicine (Part 2)
Sorry again about the mood charts post. I'm feeling fine, but I'm a bit tired and need to regroup before writing this post. I'll do it next week. Not only did I stop taking medication, but I started a digital photography class on Monday, and today I'm taking a "voice training" class. I love singing, and do it with my Autoharp, but I figured I could be better at it. I also decided that since

The dress on the left is British Court Dress dating from 1750. The one on the right is American/European, and dates from 1884-86. One can but wonder how anyone considered this fashion or why anyone would agree to wear such incredibly uncomfortable clothing. And we think fashion is insane today? Both are found at the MMA. (I remember seeing some of these outfits when I visited several years ago.)Well, hope your weekend went well. It was cold here, but at least it's starting to dry out. The Contrarian woke me early this morning and called me to the front window. Looking out we counted 8 deer meandering around out front, amazingly unconcerned about us. Waxing Poetic About the McDonald's at Broadway and Thomas
I was walking south on Broadway the other day to look at the Woolworth Building when I was struck by the spectacle of this vernacular burger franchise. I've written about more elegant buildings, including art deco masterpieces, contemporary condo developments, and modern office buildings, so this commentary represents a departure from my regular excellent taste. Many die-hard preservationists would find this building and what it represents as a violation of the architectural integrity of lower Manhattan. After all, the gray cinder block construction is mundane and the advertising signage excessive. It's way tacky.I have to say I like it. I enjoy the repetition of the golden arches, the purple neon window outlines on the second floor, the abundance of red, and the display of food products fe

      Revival of Poetic Drama
According to Francis Fergussan, a poetic drama is a drama in which you “feel” the characters are poetry and were poetry before they began to speak. Thus poetry and drama are inseparable. The playwright has to create a pattern to justify the poetic quality of the play and his poetry performs a double function. First, it is an action itself, so it must do what it says. Secondly, it makes explicit what is really happening. Eliot in his plays has solved the problem regarding language, content and versification. In the twentieth century, the inter-war period was an age suited to the poetic drama. There was a revival and some of the poets like W. B. Yeats and T. S. Eliot tried their hands in writing of poetic plays. This was a reaction against prose plays of G. B. Shaw, Galsworthy and others

      Poetic Drama
The term ‘poetic drama’ became popular during the middle of the twentieth century. It was T.S. Eliot who revived this drama/term as a reaction to the drama of ideas popularized by Galsworthy and G. B. Shaw under the influence of Ibsen. Even Shaw has written ‘The Quintessence of Ibsenism’, in which he gave his manifesto and showed the influence of Ibsen. As a critic T. S. Eliot has written essays like ‘Poetry and Drama’ and ‘Possibility of Poetic Drama’ and so on. In ‘Poetry and Drama’ he points out that poetry and drama are inseparable from each other. Poetry mirrors the heart of the person which the reader cannot conceal. Poetic Drama, according to T. S. Eliot, has far reaching effects as it affects the emotions of person directly., as a practitioner of poetic drama,

      Poetic License
Robin at Pensieve started a monthly meme of sorts to get people exercising their writing muscles. The Art Of Poetic Real Estate Descriptions
We’ve been talking about the need to go beyond presenting information from the first moment we started Real Estate Shows. One of the early posts I wrote on ActiveRain was entitled, “Front Of House & Other Really Important Information.” In it I said: Do your clients a favor: use more verbs than adjectives. Don’t describe what’s in the photo, describe how they’re going to feel when they’re in the photo! Technology companies and the Internet search process have suckered real estate professionals into skewing their writing too heavily toward information. They’d love for you to believe that because consumers conduct their online searches based on information, they make their buying decisions the same way. It’s simply not true. Recently, the folks at Bloodhound Blog have taken up this mantra. Kris Berg has even gone so far as to call this the “the Greg Swann art of poetic description.” Personally, I don’t care what

Ricardo Arjona sings poetic and dramatic songs
[Ricardo Arjona in the United States · Arjona in USA · Adentro tour 2006/2007·]Ricardo Arjona defines the norms of popular Latin music. He doesn't lace his tunes with the sizzling hot reggaeton rhythm. He's not a regional Mexican artist dabbling in norteño, banda or grupero. And his brand of Latin pop is intense, lyrical, melodically intricate songs that play like mini-epics.Yet the Guatemalan singer-songwriter's a lock for airplay. He regularly racks up hit singles and his CDs are fixtures in the Top 10 of Billboard's Latin albums chart. Such is the case with his newest, the stunning "Adentro", released in December last year, and its first single, "Acompáñame a Estar Solo," which peaked at No. 7 on Billboard's Latin singles list."Mojado," a song about the plight of undocumented Mexicans crossing the border for work, features Intocable on musical and vocal accompaniment.
