I was also preparing to move to Gainesville, FL for the summer.2) What are 5 things on my to-do list for today (not in any particular order): Um, as it's nearly midnight, let's talk about tomorrow:1. Check if the vet is open (tomorrow is a holiday) and if so, take Lucy to the vet. She has a terrifying mouth infection.2. Edit my photos from Karakol 3. Plan lessons for Tuesday4. Go to Shmel (the fast internet cafe that recently opened up near my house; where I am now)5. Buy a cheese samsa. Yum.3) Snacks I enjoy: 1. Beer cheese. (Salted/smoked string cheese)2. Chocolate.
Was spricht in euren Augen dagegen?

Lecture Podcasts - Breaking down Classes
A few weeks ago Tony posted about the recent trend of uploading University lectures onto the internet.  His point was that professors are usually more interested in the research side of things — the lectures are an annoyance for many profs.  If that is the case, the more profs post these lectures, the more the importance of the live presentation is diminished.  In the end, why have a lecture at all?  Why not take tuition fees in return for a nice little chunk of software that includes a smattering of eLectures and an eLibrary, and be done with it? I agree.  Why not? A degree is an essential requirement for upward mobility.  Trust me, I know.  Gone are the zero to hero days on your own talent, it just doesn’t happen, other than a few entrepreneurial exceptions.  To be a part of the system you need a degree. Not that the education is what is looked for, that is the lamentable fact.  A friend of mine works in insurance on the back of a geology degree; my wife is an ac

German, Arabic, English, Japanese and Spanish News, Resources and Podcasts to Consider Posting
Here are a few resources I have come across lately in my web meanderings that I believe would be valuable additions to the site: Schweiz Magazin Voices in Español Podcast The Japlish Podcast Yemen Links Arabic Resources A Scroogle Search for "learn english free" Technorati Search for learn+german Videos Obviously the last two can be expanded to include all the languages offered on this site. They are just predefined searches that can help folks find what they are looking for faster, something we are working to make possible.

Using Podcasts to promote your website
Today, podcasts are considered as one of the more efficient marketing tools for the promotion of websites and with the help of an established PR expert, you can use a podcast to increase your business profile and attract more visitors to your website. Online browsers are interested in listening to podcasts because they can learn everything there is to know about your website without ever having to lift a finger or read a single word. Podcasts are easy and convenient, two things that internet users look for when surfing the web. If you are unfamiliar with what a podcast is, let me clarify: a podcast is actually the content that is used for podcasting, and podcasting is the modern means of distribution of multimedia files that include audio programs and music videos via the internet using RSS or Atom syndication format. Once the podcast is done, it is possible to listen to these multimedia files on mobile devices and personal computers. Podcasts are interesting marketing tools that will

      Foodie Podcasts: A Rave
Ever since I got my first iPod I have been downloading books on CD so that I have something to take the sting out of mundane activities like peeling 8 pounds of butternut squash, or cleaning grout with a toothbrush. In the past 6 months, I have discovered the wealth of food-related podcasts available on iTunes, and they have revolutionized my life. In addition to reading recipe books and food magazines and watching nothing but cooking shows on TV (except for “The Office,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and “Friday Night Lights”) I can now listen to podcasts about cooking, food and restaurants to complete The Circle of Obsession. After starting with a relatively large selection, I have narrowed it down to the following podcasts which I love, all of which are available FOR FREE on iTunes. I encourage you to check them out. “The Splendid Table” with Lynne Rosetto Kasper is my favorite. I heart Lynne, and I used to be elated when I happened to catch

Random Monday : Resident Advisor Podcasts - Quality Electronic Music Mixes
Australian-based electronic music site Resident Advisor offers high quality recordings of exclusive mixes as free weekly podcasts. (registration is required). There are currently 76 podcasts in total with this week's mix by Michael Fakesch from the now defunct Funkstörung. Each podcast is a mix by producers from the house/techhouse/minimal genres ranging from the more established producers like Joris Voorn (RA.062) and Adam Beyer (RA.030) to names I haven't heard of, like Panoramabar resident Prosumer (RA.070) who did an excellent deep house mix last month. The older mixes were usually one hour long but recent mixes by producers like Prins Thomas (RA.074) spanned 2 hours 15 minutes(!) and Chloé (RA.073), Sven Weisemann (RA.075) both did ninety minute mixes.Excellent stuff if you're into more slower paced mixes of house and minimal techno that's all the rage in the electronic scene now. I find these mixes either too bleepy or too ambient for me so I'm sifting through the differ
