This astonishing 11-part BBC series is brilliantly narrated by Sir David Attenborough and sensibly organized so that each 50-minute episode covers a specific geographical region and/or wildlife habitat (mountains, caves, deserts, shallow seas, seasonal forests, etc.) until the entire planet has been magnificently represented by the most astonishing sights and sounds you'll ever experience from the comforts of home. The premiere episode, "From Pole to Pole," serves as a primer for things to come, placing the entire series in proper context and giving a general overview of what to expect from each individual episode.
Just in time for New Year’s, making a commitment to help stop the pollution from dumping water bottles into land fills is a great way to help the earth and very worthwhile resolution.
My husband read an article awhile ago about how the whole bottled water market explosion was a surprise, that it was never intended or expected to have expanded the way it did, but since people are willing to waste money on bottled water companies are going to exploit that and cash in on it - however, the effect is a ton of wasted plastic in our landfills.
Most bottled waters are no better then our tap water. Sure they are convenient, and yes water is the best beverage you can drink - but you don’t NEED to buy tons of bottles of water when there are lots of ways to carry healthy, clean water with you.
I’m going to be buying two of these FilterForGood refillable bottles. For every bottle purchased between August 10th and January 31st, 2008, a donation of $4 will be made to the Blue Plan

The Franco-American duo Dinner at the Thompson’s have finally released their first opus, ‘Lifetime on Planet Earth’. The smooth and sensual grain of Lucille’s voice mixes with Fablive’s productions, an eclectic concoction of acoustic soul, jazz, electro funk creations, and audacious break beats. This sound leaves much to reflect on for the musically adept, but most of all that blows listeners away with its finesse and sincerity. Lucille blends urban poetry and existential reflections, comment on beginnings, on endings, on life experiences. Colored with subtle bits of sampling and live instrumental recordings, their musical world is also inspired by the acoustics and rhythm in afro-beat. The album was conceived to give a warm feeling, a rarity in today’s often over-produced-sounding albums. Dinner at the Thompson’s bring rap, soul, and electro into real time: fresh, delicate, and rough, all at once.

I’ve been breaking in my new TV with the BBC’s Planet Earth on HD-DVD. It’s jaw dropping. It’s simply the best nature series ever produced.
The animals and locations aren’t just repeats from past nature shows either - half of the content is stuff I’ve never seen or knew about. The cinematography is unreal. It was actually hard to pay attention to the narration because I was continually trying to figure out just how they got their shots. The series is filled with great time lapse sequences. Like fungus growing out of an ants head. Ewwwww.
This series does not flinch from what is the average day in any part of the natural world - eating each other. That’s pretty much all plants and animals do - eat each other. When there not eating each other, they’re trying to find each other (to eat).
We humans have it really good (really really really good). I can commute to work and never worry about being snatched out from the crowd by a 2

As of its release in early 2007, Planet Earth is quite simply the greatest nature/wildlife series ever produced. Following the similarly monumental achievement of The Blue Planet: Seas of Life, this astonishing 11-part BBC series is brilliantly narrated by Sir David Attenborough and sensibly organized so that each 50-minute episode covers a specific geographical region and/or wildlife habitat (mou

Ever since I bought a new 50-inch plasma TV, I’ve been looking for interesting nature programs to watch in high definition. I felt like I hit the jackpot when I began watching the Discovery Channel miniseries Planet Earth.
I’ve recorded every episode of the 11-part miniseries since it began airing on consecutive Sundays on March 25 and tonight I’m looking forward to the final two installments, Forests and Caves (8pm and 9pm ET/PT, respectively).
Actress/conservationist Sigourney Weaver narrates each hour-long episode of Planet Earth, which was put together by the makers of the nature history series Blue Earth.
I’ve never been so captivated by a program before. I can’t believe the filmmakers were able to capture such animal behaviors like the elusive snow leopard in the highest peaks of the Himalayas and the elephants on a months-long trek through the desert in search of water. The scenarios presented truly conveyed the emotions of the animals that humans a
The Discovery Channel’s “Planet Earth” documentary began airing on March 25th, and if you haven’t caught it, it’s worth a look. The exceptional cinematography is only overshadowed by the astounding “nature” of the footage itself. I’m not a great lover of nature documentaries as such, although I thought March of The Penguins was brilliant, mainly for technical reasons. However, the execution and production quality of this series is really quite impressive.

It took four years to make and has managed to even convince this ambivalent naturist. Damn it, I don't even like cats or dogs. But it's the drama, the score, the tension, the comedy and the narrator's dulcet tones that have me hooked.
Attenborough, as ever, is in top form. It's no easy task to be able to narrate in symmetry with what's happening on screen.
Tonight, episode nine of 11 airs at 9pm on BBC One. The show is part of the BBC's trialling of the HD format. I can only imagine what it looks like in HD on a large screen.
The score too is something to enjoy. George Fenton, its creator, has previously composed scores for Ghandi, The Wind that Shakes the Barley and Dangerous Liaisons to name but a few.
You can buy the series on DVD from Monday November 27th at Play.com.
Watch a clip from last week's episode that featured a battle between elephants and lions. Stupid elephants can't see very well, something which gets them into a spot of bother.
