George Bush Authorized the Leak of Valerie Plame’s Identity
This morning on the Today Show Scott McClellan discussed the two things that really pissed him off with the Bush Administration. First, being set up to lie by Karl Rove and Scooter Libby. And second, learning that Bush had--himself--authorized the selective leaking of CIA agent Valerie Plame. It's covered in his book but the Bush crime part isn't getting the attention it deserves. When a sitting U

White House Deserves Medal of Freedom Over Plame Outing- Fox News
Take a look at the latest garbage being spewed by John Gibson over at Fox 'News'. Besides completely rewriting history (nothing new), he shares his thoughts on the whole Plame affair. He also alludes to a great 'left wing conspiracy' that exists in the government and how it is out to destroy the President and his policies. What a joke!Just another example of how the 'public' airwaves are used today.Sigh...

Politics: McClellan to publish memoir that implicates Bush in Plame scandal
Holy shit… House Press Secretary Scott McClellan will publish a memoir in April titled “What Happened.” In an excerpt posted by his publisher, McClellan implicates “the President himself” in the Valerie Plame scandal: “The most powerful leader in the world had called upon me to speak on his behalf and help restore credibility [...]

Valerie Plame: “I’m not going away”
Outed spy Valerie Plame says she isn’t going away, no matter what the folks at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue want. God help us if that’s true. I don’t think I’ve ever wanted anyone to go away more than covert, super-spy, 007, Valerie Plame. And her husband too. Even though we all know Richard Armitage is the one who leaked her identity, Plame and her idiot husband continue to peddle the fantasy that the Bush Administration leaked her identity on purpose. Richard Armitage leaked her identity in passing because he’s a gossip. As Deputy Secretary of State he was one of the most outspoken critics of the Iraq war and was certainly not considered an ally of the Bush Administration. Of course, Valerie Plame doesn’t plan to let a little thing like “truth” get in the way of her book sales. She was after all so distraught after her identity became public, she immediately posed with her husband for Vanity Fair. Valerie Plame and her husband are shameles

Plame: Disclosure of classified status amounted to 'treason'
Disclosure of her covert identity for political purposes was nothing short of "treason," outed former CIA agent Valerie Plame told Hardball host Chris Matthews Thursday on MSNBC. Of course it's treason, and the standard punishment for treason in this country for decades was execution. But that changed when they started handing out life in prison sentences to our double spies. It's still a heavier sentence than what Scooter Libby (and Dick Cheney/Karl Rove) received.read more | digg story

The Times of London Sees Through Valerie Plame
October 24, 2007       Brought to book The unmasking of Valerie Plame as a CIA agent was treason, she claims in a new book. But in an interview with her, our US Editor argues that it was just another Washington insider scandal, and everyone wins Gerard Baker Some years ago, during an interview for basic training as an undercover operative for the Central Intelligence Agency, Valerie Plame was asked an unexpected question: What would you do if you were conducting a debriefing alone with a foreign agent in a hotel room when there was a knock at the door and you heard someone shout, “Police!”? Quick as a flash, the young Miss Plame responded: she would strip off her blouse and leap into bed with her accomplice, she said, thereby providing an immediate and wholly plausible alibi, and saving the agent and herself from certain discovery. It was this sort of quick thinking that marked Plame out as a young woman with a promising future in the CIA. And it

Plame criticizes Bush, media for leak scandal
Plame criticizes Bush, media for leak scandalUncovered CIA agent writes new memoir about spy flap falloutMandel Ngan / AFP - Getty Images fileWASHINGTON - Four years after her CIA cover was blown in a newspaper column, Valerie Plame is settling scores with the Bush administration, Republican lawmakers and the journalists involved in the White House leak scandal.Plame writes about the leak, the fallout and the perjury trial of former White House aide I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby in her memoir, “Fair Game: My Life as a Spy, My Betrayal by the White House.” The book is to be released Monday, but The Associated Press purchased it early. She offers harsh words for President Bush, whom she assails for administration “arrogance and intolerance.” She also said criticism of her husband, former Ambassador Joseph Wilson, was a “dress rehearsal” for the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth effort that impugned Sen. John Kerry’s war record during his failed presidential campaign in 2004.“It

      Plame's Lawsuit Dismissed
A federal judge dismissed former CIA operative Valerie Plame's lawsuit against members of the Bush administration Thursday, eliminating one of the last courtroom remnants of the leak scandal. U.S. District Judge John D. Bates dismissed the case on jurisdictional grounds and said he would not express an opinion on the constitutional arguments. Bates dismissed the case against all defendants: Cheney, White House political adviser Karl Rove, former White House aide I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby and former Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage. Plame's attorneys had said the lawsuit would be an uphill battle. Public officials are normally immune from such lawsuits filed in connection with their jobs. "This just dragged on the character assassination that had gone on for years," said Alex Bourelly, one of Libby's lawyers. "To have the case dismissed is a big relief." Plame's attorneys said they were reading the opinion and had no immediate comment. While Bates did not address the consti

      Senate Intel Committee: Wilson/Plame Lied
NewsMax Posted this story:In a rare rebuke of a public official by name, the Senate Select Intelligence Committee has issued a scathing report blasting former Ambassador Joseph Wilson IV.The report claims Wilson mislead the public and the intelligence committee about his trip to Niger in 2002 on behalf of the CIA to investigate claims that Iraq was seeking to purchase uranium in Africa. In his New York Times article, Wilson said that in February 2002 he was asked by the Central Intelligence Agency to travel to Niger to investigate "a particular intelligence report" that documented the sale of uranium to Iraq by the Niger government. The CIA wanted him to "check out the story so they could provide a response to the vice president's office," after Vice President Dick Cheney had raised questions about the purported uranium deals, he wrote. It was Valerie Plame's recommendation for the mission that caught the eye of Vice President Dick Cheney when Wilson's Op-Ed first appeared and ultimat

      Valerie Plame Wilson: A Victim
She felt like she was hit in the gutShe claims her name was carelessly and recklessly abused by the administrationShe was in fact a victim.Valerie Plame Wilson was a loyal American who risked her life in service as part of the CIA. She was an American spy. Today, she appeared for the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform to warn Congress on exactly how dangerous and two-faced this administration is. So dangerous they would throw any American to the wolves who disagrees with them...or is close to anyone to disagrees with them.Today's testimony from Plame Wilson was heartwrenching. Here's a woman who had one of the most dangerous jobs in the world, and she wasn't doing it for the fame, for the glory, but for her country. She was a loving wife, mother of two young children and because her husband dared speak to power, she, a wife and mother, was thrown to the wolves. This case will always to be me the textbook reason this administration has been a disgrace. If this is how t

Valerie Plame Wilson: I worked on secret missions
There's a lot of speculation that her opening statement is totally fabricated and full of lies. Investigations with neighbors revealed that in fact many of them did in fact know she worked for the CIA. Many attest that she was never a covert CIA operative at all, just an average managerial employee. Her statements about Scooter Libby are very carefully worded to implicate him without saying it directly. I don't know for sure if she was recklessly exposed by the administration for purely political reasons. To be perfectly honest it wouldn't surprise me greatly to hear that was the case. My question though is if she is caught in some bald faced lies will she be treated as harshly as Scooter Libby? ~RJH CNN story link Valerie Plame Wilson: I worked on secret missionsPOSTED: 11:52 a.m. EDT, March 16, 2007 Story Highlights• Plame says she worked secretly to get details on Iraq's alleged WMD programs• Tells House committee her covert identity was not generally known• Says she was shoc

      Plame Game
Things I learned today on the intraweb:Valerie Plame was a covert CIA agent. Her covert assignment was verified by the current head of the CIA. She was not a desk jockey or a pencil pusher, but an actual undercover field operative, until she was outed by the White House.Which would be the same White House that conveniently neglected to find out which one of their minions committed treason. (Hint: If I was looking for a suspect, I would check on this dude first. Seriously. He already has a reputation of trying to get competent people fired.) Well, OK. Another wingnut talking point dies.technorati tags: Plame, video, Rove, CIA

Stupid Valerie Plame Book Deal Story.
Just found this story through Fark.com which I think is great.First here is Fark's headline for the story:Valerie Plame, who was "outed" by the evil Bush whitehouse and damaged our national security, wants to cash in on her persecution, with a new book. The CIA; not so fast, secret agent girl. The story is about Valerie Plame, former CIA employee who was apparently "outed" by someone in the Bush Administration, though she really was doing nothing too exciting, I'm sure this will be shown once the book comes out. Anyway, she was writing a book, but the CIA's panel to decide whether what she put in is allowed to be published has shot the book down pretty much, well boo friggin' hoo.I really only put this story on here because this is another example of a big problem I have with this country, and it's when people have hardship, or they fuck up, or someone screws them, or just anything bad happens to someone they always seem to try and cash in with the book deal. I mean granted, they o
