Rowling tells court she's stopped working | Reuters An emotional J.K. Rowling said on Monday she had stopped working on a new novel because her creativity was stifled by a fan's bid to print an unofficial encyclopedic companion to her Harry Potter series. The 42-year-old British author and Warner Bros. are suing independent U.S. publisher RDR Books, which plans to publish "The Harry Potter Lexicon," a 400-page reference book written by Steve Vander Ark and based on his popular fan Web site (www.hp-lexicon.org).Rowling has decided that possible plagiarism is too much for her. She can't possibly go on while other people use her work, or just capitalize on her success. Normally this would only bother me a little bit. I do believe in protecting copywrited works. However, there is somethi
Mumbai, April 11 (IANS) Filmmaker Rakesh Roshan, whose recently released film 'Krazzy 4' was dragged into court on charges of plagiarism, says that it was a well planned scheme of composer Ram Sampath to make some fast buck.
Bratty mall-punk Avril Lavigne and songwriting cohort Dr. Luke recently faced accusations that her hit song “Girlfriend” was largely stolen from the Rubinoos’ 1979 song, “I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend.” As the comparison here illustrates, the two songs are rather remarkably similar.

Content is King! shout the search engines. That's what the search engines love. We also love the non-reciprocal links that we get for our websites when our articles are published on other peoples' sites with our resource boxes dutifully appended below them.To create a well written article takes time and effort. We have to get everything right: it has to be of relevance to the reader in that subject field; it has to be well researched; all spelling, punctuation and grammar must be correct; it has to be a genuine contribution to that particular area of specialization, and so interesting that the editor will jump at the chance of publishing it. And, oh yes, all the right keywords have to be there, of the right density and in the correct proportions. The well-crafted article must satisfy both t

The internet is a global library that is accessible to almost everybody from any part of the globe. Information on virtually all topics can be found on the internet. Although there are many expensive and powerful softwares that can be used for SEO purposes, the content of a website is still the most important factor. Duplicate contents tend to be ignored by search e
I like blogs. I am so comforted to know that there are people out there who think like I do. I'm challenged by people who think differently than I do. I like seeing the parts of people's lives that they don't mind putting out there for everyone to see. When I can't sleep, sometimes I'll just blog hop and see who I'll discover. Sometimes I find old friends. Sometimes I find complete

So, I log on today, and decide to do key word searches on Google to see when and on what page my articles, posts, etc show up. Just a thing I do to see how well my SEO is working. Well, don't cha know, by doing this I found out that another blogger on Google just stole one of my posts, changed a few words around and has not given me the credit for MY hard work on that post! It's an article that I put on my other blog entitiled The Art of Flirting at the Gym". This dolt of a person, copied my article from paragraph to paragraph, and inserted their own bad grammar, substituted a few words throughout and didn't even bother to post a link to my blog where they found it. I am livid! That article was the result of my brainstorming, my writing, my editing and of course, my own personal view
Every once in a while there’s a tempest that sweeps through the industry. Generally, they die a normal death in a week or so.The current storm surrounding Cassie Edwards--the allegations of plagiarism against her--is showing no signs of a natural death. Instead, the winds of destruction have gained strength and they are heading straight for CE herself. In case you’ve been out of the loop, or hiding under a rock, I first learned of this last week HERE, but the story broke HERE. They've also provided a PDF of similarites. Dear Author is covering the story as well. There were some that may have had sympathy for CE at the get go, but I’d say that’s dwindling, if not disappeared. What was the woman thinking? And don’t give me that “she’s old” story. Old does not equate with stupid

After all of your hard work and persistence, the whole world now has access to your products or services. I don't usually post to my blog on Tuesdays but this is not the usual kind of post - I'm in the midst of trying to resolve a nasty issue regarding the plagiarism of one of my articles (swiped from right under my nose within 24 hours of posting!) and I'm not a happy person today. So I thought it's time for one of those Admin/Miscellaneous posts.I have been blogging since April'07 but still consider myself new and have a great deal to learn. And I've learnt a lot from many other bloggers, blog discussions and picking up blog tips along the way.I'm no expert but I can list out briefly here what I've learnt which will be applicable for the average blogger who knows little about how things work in blogsphere. It's a jungle out there, folks! Don't be ignorant and get eaten up!I'll cover the following in this lengthy post -1) Dos and don'ts in blogsphere;2) Helpful widgets and steps to protect your blog's content; and3) How do you know if your copyrighted article / photos have be
Shilpa Shetty seems to raise her popularity whenever she is in Europe. She has been the most covered Indian celebrity in page 3 in UK since winning the reality show Celebrity Big Brother in January this year. The actress is now been accused of plagiarism by choreographer Vaibhavi Merchant. The actress allegedly copied the idea of her musical Miss Bollywood from Vaibhavi's show Merchants of Bollywood which has been successfully playing in Europe since 2005.Shilpa who commands immense popularity in Europe was aiming to impress the West with her musical Miss Bollywood. She planned to entertain the audience and raise worldwide awareness about the largest movie industry in the world. With both the musicals touring Europe at the same time there seems to be a bit of competition going on between them. The story lines in both are similar where Merchants of Bollywood is a story of a young girl who rebels at home and gets into Bollywood as a choreographer rather that following her family traditio
Recently I am getting appreciation mails from my readers regarding the posts which I have published in my blog recently. I am really happy to hear these words from you. For those who sent me appreciation emails, this is my whole hearted welcome. Even I can also feel that, there is a great increase in my typing speed and also in my vocabulary. But right now I am thinking of increasing my PR because I am getting lowers rank in google search results because google is giving more preference for high ranked blogs and optimised blogs even though they don't have any content and are merely PPC sites. Right now I am in 12th position on an avarage for the keyword "online earning opportunities". Before I used to be among top three for this key word. Now coming to the topic, due to the increase in the typing speed an vocabulary,I got more interested in earning money for my articles. Writing informational articles for the Web is a good way to establish oneself as an authority on any topic. Creating articles is also very effective in generating traffic for your website. However, deceitful authors can plagiarize your work (with very little effort). Read on for advice and tips to cope with copyright violations.
A few lazy individuals have plagiarized a number of my articles for their blogs and websites. These sloths deliberately copied my hard work, verbatim, without my biography and Internet links. So far, dishonest webmasters with Google adSense blogs or directories have committed all violations.
I decided to nose around until I pinpointed contact information for the violators. However, these troublemakers are usually adept at concealing e-mail addresses and configuring blogs so that nobody is able to post comments.
As a result, I contacted Google. Google has zero tolerance for copyright infringements. Such violations reflect poorly on their

A big step for me and a tiny step for humanity… I have recently come to realize that a significant event in my career has occurred. For the first time in my life I have been plagiarized! Even though I am supposed to be upset I actually feel a bit honored, I mean, someone actually thought my writing was so good that she pretended it was her own. What is plagiarism? Plagiarism is one of the worst crimes you can do in academia. The term is taken from the Latin term Plagiare which means "to kidnap". Essentially you plagiarize someone when you take their idea, theory or text, and reproduce it as if it was your own idea, theory, or text. Someone who is caught expressing other peoples' view as their own without proper acknowledgement are usually punished with suspension or even termination of their job as well as a very bad reputation. Plagiarism indeed, is a big No No in academia. It is of course not always that easy to tell whether you are plagiarizing something. Although I try to give a

That little pipsqueak, Robert Novak. Let me tell you why I hate him, a hatred bordering on devilish. Obviously.
First off, he thinks he's such a hotshot because he recently writes a book called "The Prince of Darkness." He thinks he's the Prince of Darkness? That doughy-faced geriatric? Please, Robert wouldn't know 'The Prince of Darkness' if it bit him in the ass. And trust me - I have. I, The Prince of Darkness, have bit him in the ass.
Not surprisingly, Robert's ass tasted like chicken and Geritol.
But really, what a stupid book. While I, The Devil, do support open-ended thievery and plagiarism, I certainly don't support it when the person being thieved and plagiarized is in fact The Devil. That's like trying to out-good Jesus.
Second, Robert writes this terrible article arguing against a 'Clinton-Obama 08 ticket,' which appears on the website Real Clear Politics. Tsk tsk. Robert Robert Robert. You just don't get it, do you. If you really are as evil as you claim to b

Mary Swenson struggled to finish her doctorate at Capella University. So when she found Sharon Bender, it seemed a saving grace. A Capella business professor, Bender took an interest in Swenson's management research, even suggesting they team up on a book, Swenson said. Instead, she charges, her mentor began lifting her work. Swenson said she discovered "thinly veiled" versions of her own writing on Bender's Web site and said that, when confronted, her mentor claimed she deserved some credit herself. Bender said Swenson's claims are not true - and said it was Swenson who co-opted her ideas. Passing off someone's work as your own is a cardinal sin in college research. Students can be expelled. Professional reputations can be wrecked. While student plagiarism grabs headlines, allegations against teachers happen more than people realize, experts say. Because students rarely fight back, most accusations fade in the grumbling over beers after class. This time, though, the student is sui

Today’s article is sensational! A few online friends of ours have disclosed that plagiarism has reached new heights here in Malaysia. In the past, plagiarism would be limited to copying materials from hardcopies or the internet. But now, Malaysian plagiarists have relied upon a new method that if we look at it closely might not be legally wrong! I am not sure how and where they got this idea in the first place but it must have its origins somewhere from the internet somehow. Malaysian are known to be copycats, hence it is more likely that they copied this method from somebody else most probably from those outside of Malaysia. I’m sure that you are wondering what this hype is all about but believe me, I do have concerns of my own about disclosing this technique today. Today’s disclosure might create a tsunami wave of new plagiarists here in Malaysia and that is something that I personally feared dreadfully! However, I hope and

It looks as though CBS is up to their old tricks again, having plagiarized an article from the Wall Street Journal.
I have to give them some credit though, they seem to be trying to change their ways. They have gone from forging official United States documents to simple plagiarism, so they are slowly getting better. I think with a little more hard work and determination they will be able to totally rehabilitate themselves from their criminal activity.
At least this event was just a story about libraries that they stole. When they forged the documents it was a blatant attempt to lie to the people and bring down a sitting president all in the attempt to relive some of what they consider their glory days- Watergate.
What do you think about plagiarism? While reading thru my google reader, a post about how to take someone else's post or idea and make it into your own appeared. Everyone has their own ideas and blogging is about expressing your opinions on different subjects. But are there any standards that people should live by? I myself do not want to be like any other blogger out there. I am Dwayne, and that is who I shall stay. But as you know there are many many copy cat bloggers out there. One piece of advice from me, if you see someone else's idea and think you can make it better, that is fine. But if you see someone's idea and want to re-word it to make it sound like it is yours. Well just look in the dictionary for the word plagiarism.Never mind I will look for you.Literary theft. Plagiarism detection programs have become increasingly popular on collegecampuses now that Internet research has become standard and students havediscovered the ease of cutting and pasting information. The Center for Academic Integrity at Duke University reported that 10percent of students surveyed in 1999 admitted doing so without properlycrediting the source. By 2005, the percentage was almost 40 percent. And 77percent said they didn't think such cheating was a serious issue. There is no such thing as cheap plagiarism free custom essays. Custom essays can not be cheap in the first place, because there are at least two prices included in one: writer’s payment, and payment for the company that found the writer, and neither of these two sides will do volunteer work.
Good writer’s work requires time and researches. Imagine you were a custom writer yourself. Now, think that you received an order. Even if it corresponds to your major, you still don’t know absolutely everything about it. You start researching, and it takes time. If you don’t find enough material, you send a request to a customer, and he provides you with sources. Now that all the materials are available, you start reading and taking notes. Sometimes it is frustrating, but still necessary to do. The last but not least is evaluation and conclusions.
Basing on this you have to come up with writing. So it is a thorough work, and if you were a writer yourself, you would ask for a good payment.
Every time a paper is completed for you, editor at Custom-Writing.org runs a plagiarism report as part of the quality assurance program prior to delivering the completed custom essay to you. We also include a free plagiarism report with the exact occurrence of phrases on the web. Concerned about plagiarism? Anywhere, but not at Custom-Writing.org!

When Saffronhut mentioned her similar incident few months ago, I was shocked at the lengths even reputed websites thieve, and now this has happened to myself.
