The Knicks pulled out a surprising win against Detroit 104-92. I was watching the first half of this game and I was thinking, what the hell is wrong with the Pistons? The Knicks were moving the ball around, getting open threes, layups, just blowing them out in the first half. I knew that in the second half the Pistons would make a run. They did, they got it down to five, but Wilson Chandler hit a

On the basketball court, the Pistons have a lot to look forward to. When the team figures out how to fully integrate A.I. into the offense and adjusts to the loss of Billups, there’s no doubt they’ll be a huge challenge for Cleveland and/or Boston. Good stuff.
OFF the basketball court, the Pistons future is downright [...]

To those who questioned whether the Detroit Pistons could win some games with Allen Iverson on their roster, Tuesday’s game against the Sacramento Kings probably silenced the critics of the 12-year veteran; Iverson scored 30 points, leading Detroit to a 100-92 victory over Sacramento at Arco Arena; the Kings were without the services of shooting [...]
Tayshaun Prince more than made up for Allen Iverson’s absence, making sure the Detroit Pistons remained unbeaten. Prince scored 16 of his 27 points in the second quarter, and Richard Hamilton had 22 to help the Pistons beat the Toronto Raptors 100-93 on Wednesday night. Iverson was unavailable for Detroit because Chauncey Billups, one of three players traded to Denver in exchange for Iverson, ha

It’s too bad those barbaric Pistons fans get to watch The Answer, but it’s great for the NBA TV ratings and hoops fans worldwide that AI’s on an Eastern Conference Contender. Celtics vs Pistons coming at you in May 2009. Should be a fantastic series.

Walter Herrmann, always a fan favorite with his Fabio-like long, blond hair, had the Palace crowd chanting “Wal-ter Herr-mann!” as he scored 16 points off the bench to help the Pistons improve to 2-0 with a 117-109 victory over the Washington Wizards… Richard Hamilton and Rasheed Wallace, both former Wizards, were the only Detroit starters to play well—combining for 41 points and 18 reboun
The Nuggets and Pistons have agreed in principle on a trade that would send Allen Iverson to Detroit and Chauncey Billups, Antonio McDyess and Cheikh Samb to Denver, sources have told ESPN.
The deal has not been finalized.
Not My Foul will bring you more on this story as it developes.
The “Detroit Free Press” has reported that the Detroit Pistons have signed unrestricted free agent forward Walter Herrmann to a one year deal. Herrmann who recently completed his second season in the Association, split the campaign between the Charlotte Bobcats and the Pistons. Herrmann spent his first season in the NBA with the Bobcats. No the headline doesn’t indicate that the Detroit Pistons will participate on the popular NBC prime-time game show - yet it is so appropriate in their current situation. Now that the NBA season is officially over - thank you very much Boston Celtics - the trade winds will be blowing fierce this offseason. And without [...]
On December 13, 1983, the Detroit Pistons defeated the Denver Nuggets 186-183 in triple-OT--the NBA's highest-scoring game. --0 Despite Denver's 68 baskets, no Nugget finished with double figures in assists. --2 Only two three-point shots were made in the game, in four attempts. --3 Three starters (Rob Williams and T.R. Detroit Pistons Team President Joe Dumars and Charlotte Bobcats coach Larry Brown are know as pretty good judges of NBA talent. However they both have one huge blotch on their permanent records. In 2003 when Brown and Dumars were together in Detroit, as Brown was the Pistons coach the team had the second pick in the NBA [...]
Michael Curry will be introduced as the Detroit Pistons coach on Tuesday at a news conference, reports Larry Lage of the Associated Press; Curry replaces Flip Saunders, who was fired by the team last week. The “Detroit News” reported Monday that Detroit Pistons coach Flip Saunders met Saturday with Detroit President of Basketball Operations Joe Dumars, and apparently will remain next year as the Pistons bench boss. Saunders will be going into the last year of his contract, there are no reports of an extension. During Saunders three years as [...]
I wasn’t going to do a "running diary"-type of deal for tonight’s game. It just kind of happened, starting with the beginning of the second quarter. I love reading, but hate writing these things. The inevitable Bill Simmons-comparisons and the even more inevitable Bill Simmons-wannabe comments are, most of the time, too annoying to deal with. But the spacebar on my keyboard is broken (at this
Great game 6. The Celtics were just a little too much for the Pistons, especially in the fourth quarter. The Celtics outscored the Pistons 29-13 on the road.

This got pretty intense during the Celtics/Pistons game 6 last night. Rasheed Wallace in particular, who’s always intense.

Now we shall see if they can earn the rights to be called the “Big Three“. Paul Pierce scored 27 points Friday night, and the Boston Celtics came back in the fourth quarter with a vengeance to knock the Detroit Pistons out of the NBA Playoffs, winning the decisive game six 89-81 at the Palace [...]

The Detroit Pistons sent a message Monday night, the NBA Eastern Conference Finals are far from over. Paul Pierce summed it up correctly. Forget about the monkey, they left that in Cleveland. The Gorilla is off the Celtics’ back. I’ve said it before; in order to take a clear advantage at this 2008 NBA Playoffs, you must win road games, and that is what Detroit did yesterday at TD Banknorth Garden when they took on the Celtics and now the Pistons are heading to the motor city with a different mentality.

The greatest advantage that the Boston Celtics had in the 2008 NBA Post Season, is now a thing of the past for this series. I’ll say it. The Pistons had no excuse losing Game 1 against the Celtics. The way I see it, the Pistons don’t have an excuse for losing any game to the Celtics (well, maybe one or two).
Here are the facts. The Pistons have the best point guard, shooting guard, and center [...]
Watching the Celts beat the Pistons last night, I was surprised to see Billups not play like Billups. Now, I know he just came off of that bad injury, but in an interview with the crew at TNT, he said he was 100%. I know it's now good to rush an injury, but he wasn't 100%. Going into this series, I thought the Pistons could win. Now, I can't be so sure. Here my ruling: if Mr. Big Shot is not playi

There was some of the good and bad in Tuesday’s game between the Orlando Magic and Detroit Pistons. First the good: Detroit committed only 3 turnovers (a NBA playoff record). The Pistons beat the Magic 90-89 to take a 3-1 series lead. I think that the Magic went too quick on the last play of the game. Hedo held the ball for a few seconds and didn't leave the Magic enough time to extend the game. I would have liked to see a quick shot, maybe a lob to Howard. He could have dunked it quickly and left time for the Magic to D them up.Defensive rebounding needs to be consistent for 48 minutes if you're Orlando. They let the Pistons get second opportunities that led to Pistons points. Orlando was already told by coach Van Gundy, but obviously that wasn't enough. Dwight Howard needs to take a leadership role and tell his guys to box out on defense.Detroit will win this series, but I think it will take two more games. Orlando has a real chance to win the whole series, t
Whether it will hurt the Detroit Pistons in the short-term is inconsequential, but according to the Associated Press, guard Chauncey Billups will not play in Game 4 of their Eastern Conference semifinal series against the Orlando Magic on Saturday; coach Flip Saunders confirmed that Billups wouldn’t be effective because of a sore hamstring. Words cannot adequately describe the beating that the Detroit Pistons administered on the Orlando Magic Saturday night at The Palace of Auburn Hills. Pure and simple - the Magic were beaten up physically, mentally- they were punked. Neither team shot very well (Detroit at 42.9%, Orlando shot 40.5%) yet neither team committed very many [...]
The Pistons beat the Magic 91-72 to take a 1-0 series lead. This game was close for two and a half quarters. Then, with about five minutes to go in the third, Detroit played some "DETROIT BASKETBALL!" Orlando could've have stayed in the game if they made free throws and were actually aware of the out of bounds line. They have to take care of the ball and capitalize on free points from the line. Some three point shots wouldn't hurt either.I loved how Detroit played Howard. He wasn't able to get into a good rhythm; the Pistons kept putting different guys on him. Wallace and Maxiell will be the two that normally guard Howard. Orlando will make offensive adjustments and I'm sure there are a few things they can change defensively.Howard seems to have a bad hand. This is a huge concern because h
Wow, that was easily the worst game I have ever been to in every aspect. To be at a playoff game and only have 14,130 in attendance was disappointing but something I expected. I knew once they lost on Tuesday the fans would officially give up on the team and not come out and support [...]

Not much to say after getting manhandled like that. This was the first game in the series the 76ers looked like they were completely out of their league and had no shot of winning.
