Pirelli & C SpA has acquired 10.8 mln eur of shares in its unit Pirelli & C Real Estate SpA on the market, equivalent to about 1 pct, said Pirelli RE.According to stock market regulator Consob, Pirelli already controls 55.1 pct of Pirelli RE, including Pirelli RE's own share stake of 2.7 pct.

MILAN, Italy - Pirelli & C. SpA's said Tuesday its first-half net profit rose 2.7 percent, boosted by stronger tire and real estate operations. Milan-based Pirelli said in a statement that its net profit, including discontinued operations, rose to 198.3 million euros ($274.1 million) from 193.1 million euros a year before. The deal will see the formation of a joint venture in which Fintecna Immobiliare will hold a 50 pct stake. Of the remaining share, Pirelli RE will have 35 pct, Italy's Fingen will own 35 pct and Gruppo Maire 30 pct.
