Well that’s fine because a lot of bloggers don’t quite understand pinging. In this newsletter, we will explain what pinging is, how it helps your blog, and what the best pinging services are. After you’ve read this newsletter, you’ll know exactly how to use pinging to make your blog popular. What is pinging? When a blog is pinged, it essentially tells a web blog tracking system that the blog has been updated. Thus, pinging is the process of telling tracking services that a site has been updated. So how does pinging work? Well, a ping service scans regularly blogs for updates. Whenever there is a new update for a particular blog that is reported back to the pinging service’s site. You can almost think of ping services being just like search engine spiders—both scan sites looking for information, and both report that information back to their specific site. The difference is, a ping service only reports back new blog posts. Why is pinging useful for my blog?Pinging, in effect,
Last night we had a ping.sg gathering at Clementi Botak Jones.
It was my first time at Botak Jones and man, the food was shiok! I had a cadjun chicken which was basically, chicken, but I managed to lick my plate clean. The service was great too, it's like restaurant service at coffeeshop. We were waiting for all pingsters to arrive before they deliver the food, but think along the way some
I’m still only getting to grips with all these blogging tricks of the trade, Pinging was a new one to me - and still is! Basically, it’s when a blogger (me!) creates a new post, a tool sends a signal to ‘Ping Servers’ which compile and generate lists of updated blog posts - which inturn lists them on Google
Still confused? There’s nothing really to it, as there is a list of blog ‘pinging’ services which you include into your blog, that when you make a new post inturn will automatically send the ping signals to these servers - saves you doing it manually via Ping-o-Matic, and other services like that.
I found this list off the net (can’t actually remember it’s been so long!), so I’m not claiming copyrights, or any of that jazz of the content, I’m simply raising awareness of it

It has been a week since my first post. And so far, im still in a bottomless pit. Ive heard pinging can increase your popularity rating by telling the world that you have a new activity in your blog. It's sort of saying that you are still alive and kicking. Well, ive decided to try this one out. I bookmarked 2 automatic ping sites namely pingomatic and autopinger. Whats great about this sites is that they submit pings to quite a number of sites like technorati, feedster, blogdigger and blogster. Some of them sound so foriegn to me that id rather knot know about them. Technically, its very easy to use. Just put in the URL of your blog or site then check the boxes you want to ping. ( i checked everything ) and thats it!If youre not so sure about pinging. . ."Pinging is a service that pings or notifies a number of services that keep track of weblogs and publish them. Well, the reason that I like wordpress as a business strategy is that it has built in pinging service to update Ping-O-matic whenever there is a new post. I have recently come across a post that includes a good list of other pinging services as well. You may want to include this pinging into your wordpress blog. That will be able to pull more search engine to come visit your site…
You can find a comprehensive list on Elliott Back’s blog.

Everytime you make a post to your blog or update it you have to ping the search engines to notify them of the changes you have made. I have dealt with this in an earlier post : Pinging Simplified. You know that feeling you get when something goes terribly wrong, but you cant do anything about the situation? I hate it! I also hate it when I cant figure out how to do something that is probably really easy.
I have been working alongside Domino servers for as long as I could remember. The one thing I didnt have was a mentor or even an Administrator to learn anything from. This caused me to focus on other things such as MySQL, MS-SQL, ASP, Visual Basic, etc So whenever we had a problem, the first thing we would do was call the Domino people.
Well, there are a couple problems with calling on the Domino people.
They dont know how to do the new stuff that I want to try out (Accessing Domino databases using PHP)
They are too scared to try something new (Setting up domino on a Virtual Server using VMWARE)
They want to charge us $1 million an hour to add a feature to our Domino website (Adding an RSS or XML feed of the same data that is already listed on the websit

(Archived in: Online Usability Weblogs and Business)Whether you are blogging as a pastime or blogging related to marketing a business, it is important to remember to "ping" your blog updates on a regular basis. Not all blogging platforms have automated pinging services. This is a good way to build traffic in an organic way, and also is a good way to get and stay popular with your network and the various search engines. In effect, it's like a note, a telephone call, or just a friendly reminder saying, "here I am...and this is an update on what I have been doing lately".You also want to make sure that you are on topic, and writing posts relevant to your particular blog topic. As an example, pings and blogs are relevant to this particular blog, since it deals with blogging as a marketing tool for the "SOHO" market. These are people interested in "small office" or "home office" ideas. The way you build and maintain the information resources on your blog are also important to your efforts a
There seems to be a huge craze lately with everyone trying to blog and ping to get their websites indexed into the search engines. Although this can be a great tool, all marketers should first understand exactly what they’re getting themselves into before starting.
