"... in this station he makes his final sajda at the door of the sacred mosque and from this sajda he does not lift up his head again because there is no head to lift up ..."In teaching the Great Pilgrimage (Al-Hajj Al-Akbar), sufi guide Sidi Muhammad al-Jamal ar-Rifai, may God be pleased with him, uses the legendary love story of Layla and Majnun to teach the inner realities.Following is an excerpt from his teaching:The Great Pilgrimage – where the lovers meet at the door of the sacred mosque and reunite in the still center after turning and turning and turning around the throne of the Most High.Majnun meets Laila in the course of his journey around the holy house. She has always been with him, but only in this station, in the midst of his unveiling, does he realize her nearness and the

It is serenely quiet and bitterly cold. A small group of us have just scrambled over rocks with numb hands to get to a small stone hut. An almost spiritual light replaces the intense sunlight as shades of orange and pink paint the uneven tips of the wind-worn and jagged brown mountains which jut out of the Saharan sands. The eerie shadows of the valleys below fall into a deep mauve haze before evaporating into complete darkness. Only a handful of people huddled together for warmth are on hand to watch nature’s welcoming of a new night in this remote and desolate mountain hideaway. We carefully pick our way back down to small refuge, the dazzling stars of the evening sky belying the plummeting temperatures and biting breezes. Dining in candlelight, a steaming plate of cous-cous and stew, c

A wise man is on the different state of mind & feeling over some particular idea than a layman and this state is more clearer and brighter.A layman may not accept the opinion or idea of a wise man because his own opinion seems more clear to him according to his knowledge and reason.Maybe a time will come, when the layman has experienced the circumstances and consequences which may lead him to the same point of wise man's idea ..and at that time, layman will say:"Aah.. I was wrong!"This is the mean time when the layman becomes wise himself on that particular idea.@afterwind~ + ~Now i am going to copy some text from book. This text regarding with the experiences

“Mark Boyle was a man with a dream. He was so convinced that a world without the evils of money is possible that he set out to walk from Britain to India without spending a penny in order to prove it.
But Mr Boyle, who hoped to reach Gandhi’s birthplace within two-and-a-half years, had reckoned [...]

It is known that physical worship is an imitation of what is real, and the Hajj is no exception. The reality of worship is completely different for one who has attained a higher level of understanding and sincerity compared to the common individual, and it is for this reason that Prophet Muhammad said that although two individuals may pray beside one another and superficially appear not unlike one another, yet the difference between their prayers is as the difference between the heavens and the earth. The reality of worship is known to the soul, and he who is close, or in union as Awliya are, to his soul will find infinitely greater depth in his worship. All souls are by divine will in a state of Islam and in perfect surrender to the Lord of Heavens. Thus the closer one moves towards himself, his true self, the closer he or she will come towards the identity of "Abdullah," an honored servant of the Divine. The journey towards Oneself is but the journey from the superficial world of i
Newly married couple Srija (daughter of Megastar Chiranjeevi) and Sirish Bharadwaj seem to be on a pilgrimage spree these days. After returning from New Delhi, the couple maintained a low profile for a few days, before embarking on the pilgrimage to get the Almighty blessings for a peaceful life. On Wednesday, Srija and Sirish visited Simhachalam temple in Visakhapatnam, where they received a grand welcome by the temple authorities. Obviously, they got the media attention they wanted. The couple is expected to visit Annavaram, Tirupati, Srisailam and Kanaka Durga temples as part of their pilgrimage.

"The history of ‘Wishbone Ash’ goes back to 1966, when drummer Steve Upton of the ‘Scimitars’ joined bassist Martin Turner and Martin’s brother Glen in the band ‘The Empty Vessels’. The trio named themselves ‘Tanglewood’ and moved to London. Glen Turner quit soon and was replaced by Ted Turner of Birmingham band ‘King Biscuit’. The line-up was finalised by guitarist
Many time we make few steps to back or forward we may take steps to the left or sometime to the right, But when we plan for pilgrimage we are making steps towards god .We got to god with lusts of problems, sickness faith doubts crisis and we ask for favors."Pilgrimage means focusing on an intention, focusing on a desire, or focusing on resolution of a situation.”History of a Pilgrimage:A Pilgrimage is a personal invitation from God it is differs from a tour in several important ways. It comprised of god offer and depends upon your acceptance. God's call many ways but the purpose remains consistent: It is an individual summons to know God more fully. it is a spiritual journey for spiritual purpose. and an opportunity to get closer to God.Definition of a pilgrimage is "A long journey or search, especially one of exalted purpose or moral significance." So, a religious pilgrimage is generally a long, arduous journey. Hardly the kinds of leisure modern people tend to seek when vacationin
Wishbone Ash - Pilgrimage(1971)320kbpsWishbone Ash's sophomore release, Pilgrimage, unveiled their creative genius after a debut that merely presented them as a boogie- and blues-based rock outfit. The opening track, "Vas Dis," with its jazz bassline, slicing rhythm guitar, and gibberish vocals was their answer to "Hocus Pocus" by Focus (or vice versa as both were released in 1971). "No Water in the Well" is one of the great rock instrumentals of the early '70s as it accentuates the dual lead guitar acumen of Andy Powell and Ted Turner. "Jail Bait" has gone on to become a Wishbone Ash staple as well as possessing one of the more memorable guitar riffs of '70s rock & roll. A conscientious effort seemed to be in place for this band to write and perform material better suited to their gentler vocal tendencies. Where Wishbone Ash essentially went full tilt throughout, Pilgrimage is a moodier affair that includes beautiful, slower melodies like the brief instrumentals "Alone" and "Lullab
Pilgrimage is an important part of spiritual life for many Christians. Christians see life itself as a journey, coming from God and returning to God. The pilgrim seeks to separate himself from the everyday concerns of the world, and to spend time in the presence of God as he travels to a place of special meaning. A Pilgrimage is a symbol that is acted out.1. A journey to a sacred place or shrine.2. A long journey or search, especially one of exalted purpose or moral significance. Here are some of the best-known places visit on pilgrimage:Holy Lands (Israel / Palestine)Many visit the places where Jesus lived, especially during the Christian festivals (Bethlehem at Christmas, Jerusalem at Easter)Jerusalem : Ascend the Mount of Olives to marvel at the spectacular view of the Holy City of Jerusalem. Walk down the hill the Church of Peter Noster and the Chapel of Ascension. On to the church of Dominus Flevit and the Church of All Nations in the Garden of Gethsemane where Jesus endured his ag
I have long enjoyed good travel writing, especially when it is set someplace in the British Isles, because despite having lived in the U.K. for a while, I still wish that I had taken time to see some of the more remote parts of the kingdom. It seemed that no matter how many hours I spent behind the wheel of the car there was always more to see just down the road. I still find it frustrating to think that, despite having driven from Lands End to John O'Groats, and later having crossed the country from several other angles, I still read of out-of-the-way places that I managed to miss. That is what first attracted me to Queenan Country. According to the dust jacket blurb, Joe Queenan has been going to the U.K. for decades but, because he is married to a Brit, he had seen little more than the various cities and villages that are called home by his wife's relatives. This time he decided to go to the U.K. on his own to drive around until he had seen most of the sites and sights that he
I had the chance to read a really good book recently, courtesy of Paraclete Press; it is called "American Pilgrimage: Sacred Journeys and Spiritual Destinations." Written by Mark Ogilbee and Jana Riess, it depicts their journeys as they travel to and along with others on pilgrimages to certain locations in America that are popular pilgrimage destinations. One aspect of the book that I really appreciated was that it focused on spiritual pilgrimage sites here in the United States. So often I hear about so-and-so going to Iona, or Taize, perhaps the Northumbria Community. But how many people take the time to travel to spiritual destinations right here in the US? I've had a chance to visit some monasteries (my favorite was Christ in the Desert), but it's always been my impression that in order to have an intense spiritual experience, I had to get out of the US.
The authors of this book have proved me wrong.
To give you an idea of the places they visit, here are some of the sites writ
