I love just spreading the word of Pilates to people who need it and haven't done it. In teh past few weeks I have seen clients with hip replacements, reconstructed knees, osteoporosis, ruptured lumbar discs. I have seen people with limited use of an arm, a knee that won't bend, and scoliosis. Pilates has helped all of them! They have all felt better and left with studio referrals for home. Good biomechanically sound exercise with a focus on spinal stabilization and core strength will help anyone. I am always on the lookout for new and interesting Pilates articles, especially the older historical ones where you find interviews with Joe Pilates and such. The first is a reprint of a Reader's Digest condensation of a Collier's article from 1934. The article was written by Marie Beynon Ray and is entitle "Cutting A Fine Figure [with Pilates]".The second is by Robert Wernick and was published in the February 12, 1962 issue of Sport's Illustrated and is entitled "Joe Pilates: Learning to be an Animal. A three time Olympic Gold Medalist, Australian swimmer Jodie Henry has announced her withdrawal from next month's Australian Beijing olympic trials.According to The herald Sun, Henry has been diagnosed with "an imbalance in the muscles around her pelvis, which causes severe pain when she swims".
