      Dill Pickles
There is something I've not mastered yet that I'm jealous of those that have; pickles. Nice crisp, wonderful dill pickles. My parents managed to somehow make the most perfect, delicious dill pickles last year that have all but ruined me on eating any other kind, brand or style but theirs. I asked them how they made such wonderful pickles and all my Dad will share is; "I make them in a 5 gallo

Hold the Pickles, Hold the Lettuce
By: Mark Cramer Personalization has been around as long as, well, people. Each of us is different, so it's no surprise that people and businesses strive to customize their messages and products to cater to individual preferences.Occasionally this process can take a while (Henry Ford wrote in his autobiography, "Any customer can have a car painted any colour that he wants so long as it is black"),

      World's Best Pickles
knew they were the world's best pickles the moment I tasted one. That first taste took place around 1950, and I've tasted a lot of pickles since, am a pickle hound in fact, but I've never come across anything else as good. They came to us by way of my Uncle Ronald Smith, who was an electrician in the Bitterroot Valley of Montana where I grew up. One day he was doing electrical work for a Bulgarian family, and they rewarded him with a sample pickle. He liked it so much he got the recipe and gave it to his wife Gladys, who gave it to Grandma Glidewell, who made it and gave some to me, and I thought I'd died and gone to pickle heaven. And thus, although they became an old Glidewell family recipe, they are really an old Bulgarian family recipe. The Bulgarian family, whose name I do not know, tol

Life is happening. Sweet Pickles taste good.
I've been at a loss for years trying to think of what to do for employment once our girls are in school. Ideally my job would give me flexible hours, be fun and be something I actually have a tiny bit of interest in.Nothing has really sparked my interest and fit into those criteria...until now. I'm finding that wherever I go, if I have one of the girls in a wrap or carrier I get asked by at least one person, "Where did you get that??" I excitedly explain my new found love for baby wearing, all the benefits and where I found my stash.Okay, I'm just going to cut to the chase. After a LOT of thought, quite a bit of Googling and a few phone calls I am now the OWNER, yes that's right! Owner of my own business, Sweet Pickles.Sweet Pickles will be a company focused on providing the highest

J.Lo Craving Pickles, Doritos and a Baby Girl?
Sure, Jennifer Lopez looks like she just cleaned out the muumuu section at Mrs. Roper's garage sale, but she continues to dance around the subject of whether she's gestating the spawn of hollow-cheeked hubby Marc Anthony, despite nudges this week from both Diane Sawyer and David Letterman. Still, the swollen-bellied star's coyness hasn't stopped Us Weekly from proclaiming her knocked up.

School Book Talks Picking Noses Wiping Boogers and Pickles Author Beware
Looking for a few good ways to spruce up your school book talks? Then read on to discover several great ways to make book talks more fun for both the audience and the speaker. When it comes to presenting at schools, the most important thing to do is be very interactive with the audience. As a personal experience, when I wasn’t engaging the kids about my book - The Student from Zombie Island - I literally saw them picking their noses and trying to decide where to wipe the boogers. I’m not joking! The more speakers connect with their audiences and ask them questions, the more the kids understand what the speakers are trying to tell them. Presenters also need to remember to talk “to” the students, not “at” them. For example, instead of saying, “A rumor is gossip spread by word of mouth,” ask the audience, “Does anyone know what a rumor is?” This will start a discussion on rumors, and before you know it, the students will really b

Why Didn't my Pickles Stay Crisp?
I admit that my home canned pickles (dill) get soft and it drives me crazy. I've used recipes completely from scratch, I've used dill pickle mixes. I've used 3 different kinds of cucumbers. Nada. The odd thing was that one season I had 2 quarts stay semi-crisp but the rest got soft. Now that was confusing! I came across the advice from people 'in the know' - the makers of Bell and Kerr

      Pickles and Oranges
I am having weird cravings for pickles and oranges now. I wonder what that means? I have hit the 37th week now so officially, my baby is full term. I still want the baby to "cook" a little while longer. My baby has dropped and I feel like I have a bowling ball in between my legs. The pressure is painful. He is also a very active baby, especially at night. That is not a good thing. My son also was very active at night and he ended up staying up all night crying the first three months of his life. My nesting instincts have kicked big time. That is very difficult when you can't walk. I want to clean everything. I am just unhappy with my home. The slightest speck of dirt is driving me crazy, but I am making myself stay off of my feet as much as possible. I really don't want to injure myself any worse than I have. My mother will kill me, but I admit to cooking lunch and washing the dishes today. I just couldn't stand it anymore!! I was tired of eating fast food and seeing dishes all ov

      Pickles
