Ever since the launch of Photosynth there's been much discussion about the natural synergy of it and Microsoft Virtual Earth. Well, it's now official that you can begin additional speculation on what it means that we've moved the Photosynth team into the Virtual Earth product group. No longer is Photosynth just a Live Labs research project - it no has full funding and backing from the Virtual Eart
Chris Pendleton is reporting today that the Photosynth team is moving into the Virtual Earth product group. Ever since the launch of Photosynth there's been much discussion about the natural synergy of it and Microsoft Virtual Earth. Well, it's now official that you can begin additional speculation on what it means that we've moved the Photosynth team into the Virtual Earth product group. No
Microsoft’s Photosynth is undeniably gorgeous - it lets users “walk” through various locales by stitching together thousands of user-submitted photos to create a virtual 3D environment. Unfortunately, up until today this experience has only been available to Windows users. Cue Panoramio, a Spanish photo site that Google acquired in May 2007. Panoramio has just launched a new “Look Aroun
“National Geographic Magazine is partnering with Microsoft to bring Stonehenge to life using the super cool PhotoSynth tool. The idea was to take a series of photographs and jigsaw them together in a 3D environment. Photosynth combines hundreds of high quality digital images and lets you browse them in a smooth way, so you can [...]
Recently Microsoft Live labs introduced cool app called Photosynth. Microsoft says that this app brings in new technology which will forever change the way people think about digital photos. Photosynth is currently supported as an addon for Mozilla Firefox and Internet explorer.Another requirement is a good graphic subsystem installed for all the graphic shine. So if you have an older graphic card on your pc like the Intel’s 8xx series then Photosynth will not work. The application is free to boot and has an inbuilt image gallery to view some cool stuff. Here is a screenshot of Photosynth in action: Here are some notable features of Photosynth : Occupies less memory - You must have an active Xcontrol in the system (about 5mb) for Photosynth to run. It doesn’t occupy l
As I noted in this post last week, the only way to make any real sense of the big picture is to first stitch together all of the atomic-level observations (puzzle pieces) into context (pictures). With this in mind, take a look at this exceptional video about "Photosynth" presented by Blaise Aguera y Arcas at a TED conference. Now imagine the process of stitching together not just digital images … but all available data – across disparate data types (e.g., structured, unstructured text, images, video, audio, etc.). When I speak of Context, this is exactly what I mean. So after seeing Photosynth ... this made me think "n" sensor context accumulation could just as easily be called "Infosynth." ~ more... ~
Imagine a software that can reconstruct your photo collection into 3D images. So that you can traverse the place that you've visit one again, in 3D, with only a set of photographs of the location that you have.
Microsoft has made a tremendous effort of advanced technology these days. Photosynth is just one of their project of recreating 3D environment based on a set of digital photos as the
Check out this incredible demonstration of Photosynth! Blaise Aguera y Arcas, an architect at Microsoft Live Labs, architect of Seadragon, and the co-creator of Photosynth, provides a demontration on a monumental piece of software capable of assembling static photos into a synergy of zoomable, navigatable spaces. It has incredible implications for the near future enhancing the way we locate, manipulate and relate information and images.
Microsoft’s Photosynth software is basically an application that takes hundreds of photos of a certain landmark, object or building allowing it to be seen in a ‘3D view’ on the computer.
Microsoft’s latest 3d model coverage is the Space Shuttle Endeavour on the launch pad at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, before it launches. It allows you to move around, zoom in and view with great accuracy.
It really is a great and innovative idea that I’m sure someone like Google will catch onto soon and make faster, simpler and easier to use. What do you think of the Microsoft Photosynth Software? Click here to try it out, providing you’re on a windows-only machine.

I was stumbling around the net when I came across a video at Crazy Leaf Design. They were dumbfounded by what they saw, as am I. I didn’t even know these types of things were possible. Apple may be good at beautiful design, but Microsoft is king of innovation. I can’t even describe this project very well. It will change the way you read things on the computer, interact with photos and use social networks. Obviously, that description does the project no justice. You should just stop reading my babbling and watch the video:
Now that you have seen the video, go play with the real thing over at Microsoft Live Labs!
This is an amazing piece of technology, presented at a TED conference. I really can’t explain it better than the video below. Enjoy !

It's been just a few short months since the Microsoft Live Labs Team announced Photosynth at SIGGRAPH 2006 in Boston and boy have they been busy!
Today they are very happy to announce the first public release of their Photosynth Technology Preview. And hey as the Team thought you might have some questions about this release they’ve provided you with some Questions and Answers as provided below. Great Work Team!
Q. What does Photosynth do?
A. Photosynth combines hundreds or thousands of regular digital photos of a scene to present a detailed 3D model, giving viewers the sensation of smoothly gliding around the scene from every angle. The scene can be constructed regardless of whether the photos are from a single or multiple sources. It's like a hybrid of a slide show and a gaming experience that lets the viewer zoom in to see greater detail or zoom out for a more expansive view. By viewing the photos in a 3D context you are able to get a better sense for the place where t
After seeing it on YouTube, I quickly became interested in the Microsoft Photosynth project. Basically, it weaves a bunch of photos of the same thing from different angles together, to make a 3D map of the object. What really caught my interest, was that the demo video (which was presumably made using [...]
