      Exploring Philosophical Photography
When I considered Art in the past, photography was never part of the repertoire of forms which were as creative as painting or sculpting. Just aim and press a button. What’s creative about that? I have since had remorse, realizing that I was doing to photography what a friend of mine, a painter, implied when he said, “Painting is a purer art form than sculpture.” I had decided to explore photography. I wasn’t concerned about the quality of the photograph as much as understanding what it was that I was setting out to do, with a pocket sized Casio 900 series camera. What I discovered was intriguing. My awareness of what was going on around me became noticeably focused on looking for interesting things to picture. I was excited when walking down 59th street between Park and Madison Avenues, on the South side of the street, I passed a Hallmark Store. When I gazed into the window, there was a 2-inch water bug, belly up in an “I love NY” ashtray. Anyone wh

      Philosophical Thoughts at Work
I used to be a photographer for Olan Mills. One day that I knew was going to be particularly slow, I took my laptop to work and began writing. I think it was in that moment, I knew that I wanted to write about art as well as just create it. Anyway, I just found the old pen drive that had these files on it, and I thought I’d share. It is amazing how time does not stand still even for a moment. At the moment of the flash, time continues to roll on. A single millisecond frozen in time. No contextual reference for this instant can be captured, only the moment. But that moment, forever still and chosen for that image, marks that time in which it is set. The backdrop, more than what you can immediately perceive is the life, the loves, the passions that are displayed in that person. If artistically chosen, or just a plain snapshot captured the art of who that person is. We like the images that do not show us as we are, but as we imagine ourselves to be. Share This

      Nico philosophical after late heartache
Nico Rosberg said he simply had to accept his late retirement in the US Grand Prix despite it costing him a sixth-place finish. The Williams driver had made full use of a one-stop strategy from 14th on the grid and was running strongly in the points positions until his FW29 developed an oil leak on Indianapolis’ main straight with just five laps to go. Rosberg admitted he had to be satisfied with his race performance up until that point rather than bemoan the late failure. “I was more…

      Going Philosophical
最近捡起了一本买了很久但都没看的书,因为看起来太费劲了,现在是终于有时间了。书还是从床底里找出来的,叫做A History of Philosophy: Socrates to Satre and Beyond。

On getting out of bed, a philosophical approach
by Christopher RichardsAmericans are fantastically well educated. If they are not getting extra masters degrees at night, then they are taking classes on how to do something practical. Where I live, in the San Francisco Bay Area, you can find a class on time management, travel to foreign parts, or Tantric sex. The energy to do all this is only to be admired.I’ve seen classes advertising how to massage your pet, operatic singing for the unmusical, and how to adjust an insurance claim. Although these might seem compelling, especially insurance adjusting, which promises hours of fun, I’ve never seen a class for someone like me. I need something basic. If we need to learn to dress for success, then surely we need some prerequisites.I’m talking about how to get out of bed. Most of us manage to get out of bed, eventually. Employers expect as much. But while some people can rise in the morning with grace, facility, and aplomb, others get out of bed only after much effort. We in the latt

      Philosophical Presuppositions Defeated?
Google Books, I discovered a rather amusing little essay in a book titled “Darwinism Defeated?“. Now, the title alone provokes laughter from me (Is it defeated? We aren’t sure, so we’ll equivocate with our title), but I kept reading. I came across the crux of the essay in one of the first paragraphs, which I’ll reproduce here: My writings, and those of my colleagues in the intelligent design movement, assume that the truth or falsity of a scientific thesis should be determined by scientific evidence, rather than decided by philosophical presupposition. We are opposed by persons who endorse methodological naturalism, a doctrine that insists that science must explain biological creation only by natural processes, meaning unintelligent processes. Now what’s wrong with this passage? It could be that the author classifies natural processes as philosophical presupposition but not intelligent design. It could also be the assertion that naturalism is a R

My interview experience with Google | Philosophical Geek
Posted under {Google Interview Questions} by interviewresources .A few months ago I received an e-mail from a recruiter at Google asking for an opportunity to talk to me about available development positions.
