I just can't believe when daughter # 4 said that she saw a squirrel jumped from a tree. Her friend confirmed it.Squirrel? In the Philippines? Philippine's Lenten Season
Yesterday is Palm Sunday. My family went to church. We bought two pieces of palm leaves to be blessed after the mass. Usually we surrender the old palm leaves to church for burning into ashes to be used on next year's Ash Wednesday. This week is Holy Week and I’d like to share with you practices, "penitensiya" and different vows (panata) of Filipino people during Lenten Season. You will see how we commemorate Palm Sunday, Pabasa ng Pasyon (the devotees sing the Passion of the Christ), the different holy floats or "karosa", processions, the so-called “hampas dugo” and the enactment of the crucifixion (some people really have themselves crucified as their “panata”). I wish all of us to have a blessed and fruitful Lenten Season.

Philippine Tourism Embraces the New Media Revolution
Tourism secretary Ace Durano is hip. Why i said that? very simple. Today's new media popularity paves way to his conclusion or perhaps government decision to tap the contents from the cyberspace. To be specific, the agency had chosen the service of Ms. Christine Gambito to be its ambassador for ti US-based Filipina, a new media practitioner and a celebrity of her own via the social site like YouTube. She gained her popularity over her "Happy Slip" channel which has over 4.5 million views as of this writing, and almost 120,000 subscribers. Philippine stock market lost 9% in January 2008
If you placed money in the Philippine stock market from the beginning of January this year, you would have already lost 9% by now. That translates to a million pesos worth only P910,000 as of January 31.That is based on the performance of the Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi), a basket of 30 listed common stocks representing the overall movement of market prices and the general state of the Philippine economy. On January 31, the PSEi closed at 3,294.08, down 9.04% compared to its original level at the start of the year. Badly hit were the Mining and Oil sector which lost 15.12% and the Holding Firms sector which declined in value by 14.74%.The PSEi lost 9% of its value in January 2008 alone.

Are you going to the 12th Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta?
There may not be any slots left in our second tour at the Hot Ait Balloon Fiesta but I'll be updating everyone about it anyway. It was an overwhelming response since we already have 35 reservations for the day tour. Unfortunately, we can only accept 30 people at most for both the day tour and overnight. There's a wait list if you are still interested and if those who reserved do not confirm their reservations by paying on or before January 31, then you might just get that slot.Good news to those who will be joining us. While the entrance fee to the Hot Air Balloon Fiesta is P100, this will only give you access to the general viewing area where you can see the hot air balloons from a distance. They issue 100 photographers' passes per day so that you can have a close encounter with the ballo

Philippine Soap Operas are tear jerker
I have been watching Marimar-the remake of the Mexican Marimar. Well, as always, such soap opera is really heart touching. I mean every time I watch an episode, I couldn't help to shed a tear. My tear would just fall whenever I see someone being emotional. I guess, I get carried away sometimes, even when I know that it is just part of the play-not real. However, I can be a very emotional person, so this must be why I always wind up crying...eheheh. Silly me, but that is what happen each time I watch a sad movie, yes, sad movies make me cry. I can relate top some scenarios, so that is why it affects me. Whew! Life is not complete without a little of everything involved which are sad moments, happy, and others in between...LOL. Certainly the soap operas in the Philippines are tear jerker.

      January 2008 Philippine Boxing Updates
Pacman vs. HitmanThese past few weeks, there has been a lot of buzz about a possible super fight between Pinoy boxing star, Manny Pacquiao and British boxing star, Ricky Hatton. Since Ricky Hatton is about the same height as Manny and has a two inch reach disadvantage, some people have argued that it would be a good match up. In terms of weight, Pacquaio had weighed in at around 140 lbs. at fight time, which is around Hatton's usual weight. This is not a good match up in my opinion because even if both fighters are of the same height, I don't think that they are of the same size and weight. Hatton would be the natural bigger man and has a big advantage in size. Pacman weighed at about 140 at the night of some of his fights but I think Hatton for his part weighed over 150 lbs in most of his
