PT Pertamina, Indonesia's state oil company, awarded $123 million worth contracts to China's Jiangsu Eastern Heavy Industry Co. to build two tankers to transport crude. The Chinese shipbuilder will build tankers with a capacity of 85,000 deadweight tons each, Ari Soemarno, president director of Pertamina, said in Jakarta today. PT Pertamina's proposed new price formula for diesel supplies in the second half was rejected by the Indonesian state oil company's suppliers, including Kuwait Petroleum Corp., PTT Pcl and Petroliam Nasional Bhd. The suppliers disagreed on a proposed new price formula for the supply of diesel cargoes with sulfur content of 0.35 percent starting in July, said company officials involved in talks. They declined to be identified because of confidentiality agreements. Pertamina had earlier proposed to suppliers to adopt 99.7 percent of average Singapore price quotes of 0.25 percent sulfur diesel assessed by oil-pricing services Argus Media and Platts. Jakarta will disperse the money to various projects and ventures to boost much-needed production. Pertamina will invest $50 million to develop the Kedung Tuban and Alas Tua oil fields in the Cepu Block in East Java, Pertamina President Ari Hernanto Soemarno said. The company submitted its plan of development to the Upstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Body, BP Migas, for the Kedung Tuban and Alas Tua fields. The two fields are not included in the operation area of the Joint Operating Committee of Pertamina and ExxonMobil, which have a 45 percent share of the Cepu Block each. Ari said the Cepu Block had many oil and gas fields and that most of them were controlled by Pertamina. JAKARTA, Jan 25 (Reuters) - Indonesian state oil and gas firm, PT Pertamina, has set aside about $315 million to pay possible compensation to U.S. firm, Karaha Bodas, over a disputed geothermal energy project, a Pertamina executive said Thursday. Last October, the U.S. supreme court turned down an appeal by Pertamina, which was seeking to overturn an arbitration panel to award $261 million compensation to Karaha Bodas, controlled by Florida-based utility company FPL Group Inc (FPL.N: Quote, Profile , Research).
