Some people seem to relish drama in their lives. They go from one catastrophe to another. They thrive on it as if drama is what makes them feel alive.
You may be able to see that they are attracting these experiences by their daily thoughts and feelings. But, they don’t recognize it from within the narrow confines of their personal drama.
To someone immersed in drama, the idea that they are creating it is completely foreign. They think, “Surely I would never choose . . . (fill-in-the-blank). They act as if such an idea is totally absurd.
There are two scenarios that can explain this kind of manifestation of drama:
1) They are not yet aware that thoughts and feelings are powerful creators, so the dramatic results created are not deliberate.
2) They have at least considered the idea of deliberate creation, but still have unidentified fears holding them back from further personal development. Rather tha

We humans seem to always just want to do enough, just get by. We settle for a B when we could have tried harder and made an A. People often do and accomplish things with the least amount of effort they can muster - we usually choose the easiest route. We never want to really have to battle with an issue in our lives, we just want it solved in the quickest and easiest manner possible, but remember - no pain, no gain.Finding an easy solution to a problem may feel good but it won't help you develop and strengthen your mental facilities. Your mind needs exercise just like your body. Yes, you can increase the power of your mind - you can make it retain thoughts better(memory), you can make it more alert, more conscious of its surroundings, etc...Personal development means exactly these things. Personal development asks us to consider the way we make use of our bodies and minds. It gives us a procedure to use that will end in a more useful and skillful mind. This is something we all can

Do affirmations work? If you are like most people, you use affirmations everyday. Many times, we use affirmations without realizing it. When you are talking to yourself, these are affirmations. Whether you think you can or think you can't you are probably right and you are probably listening to yourself. Maybe more than you should. Its not the positive affirmations that you use, rather the negative ones, that you may be using without realizing. So what are you telling yourself?

There are many people in our society today that are very unhappy with their lives for one reason or another. Whatever reason they have for being unhappy, there is undoubtedly a way to change it. Sometimes it requires a change in career, or situation. Other times it is simply a change in the way that people think. Sometimes, it is both. This is what personal development is all about. (more…)

"Poverty is attracted to the one whose mind is favorable to it,

Poverty consciousness will voluntarily seize the mind which is not

ONE of the best ways I've ever found to help myself grown is to give more of myself to others. There's just something about watching others grow from the time and care you have put into them.
One of the truly special gifts of being a parent is having a child you can teach your skills to and one day watch them do all we can do even better. Even with children, it's an amazing experience to help others out with your free time and not much else will ever make you feel better about yourself. Below are ten ways you can volunteer even if you already have a busy family and career.
1. Your children's school- A great way to volunteer and spend more time with your children at the same time is to volunteer in their classrooms or at their school.
2. Homeless shelters- Homeless shelters need as many extra hands as they can get. It doesn't take more than a couple of hours each night you can to help feed dozens to hundreds of homeless. Read the 35 ways to help the homeless for more ideas o

SOMETHING I have noticed as being a major hurdle for many people to overcome is the ability to stop dwelling on the problems of their past or looking to the future for their happiness. Your happiness can only be found in one place, within you, and at one time, at the intersection of just happened and about to happen.
I've been guilty of dwelling on the past and the future at different times of my life. Much of my life I spent being a "perfectionist" and wondering how I could have done things in my life better. The simple answer to that question is nothing, but for years I went over certain things over and over to the point I stopped enjoying the things that were currently in my life.
When I saw the error of my ways, I began to be a much more creative and loving individual, but as I surrounded my life with new projects and ambitions, it became hard not to dwell on the good times the future could bring if I could just follow through on my goals. Sadly, this wasn't the happiness

“I live on Earth at present, and I don’t know what I am,
I know I am not a category. I am not a thing—a noun.
I seem to be a verb, an evolutionary process
—an integral function of the universe.”
Buckminster Fuller
That is what am, a verb, an evolutionary process. For me, personal development is an evolutionary process. I continue to grow and learn. Or should I say, learn and grow. learning sometimes means being uncomfortable. When we try new things its uncomfortable at the beginning. Take skiing for example (or some other activity that you enjoy). When I started skiing it was all about trying to get to the bottom of the hill without falling too many times. As I learned to ski, it become less about survival and more about enjoyment. Personal development and self growth is the same way too. Learning and growing sometimes means being uncomfortable as we change and grow. Next time you feel uncomfortable as you stretch yourself, remember its just
EXPRESSING your emotions in a healthy manner is directly related to the level of happiness and growth you experience in life.
When we don't feel worthy of ourselves, we hold our emotions in and create a variety of psychological and nervous disorders. When we are feeling inspired and motivated in life, we freely express ourselves without hesitation or worry of what others might think. Only during these times are we truly living.
Learning how to express ourselves in productive ways is a difficult task and is often a lifelong process. You don't have to let the best years of your life pass by before you learn this skill, though. Pay attention to what your feelings are trying to tell you and practice these tips to increase your ability to express your emotions in any circumstance.
1. Start A Journal- Expressing yourself to the person you feel is responsible for your current emotions is the healthiest option, but if you aren't quite ready to take that step, starting a journal is
DADVISER just surpassed six months of being live and while every month has seen numerous improvements, August was by far the best month we've had. I still have many improvements in mind, but as a full-time father and owner of an increasingly busy marketing company, my available time is shrinking.
My lack of free time got me to thinking about outsourcing, which is ironic because I spend so much time marketing to business owners to get them to outsource their marketing needs to me. The circle of life in 2007, I guess.
Anyway, a major reason traffic increased so much around here last month is because people returned to see the next tip in the 31 Days to Being A Better Dad series. I've actually been toying with month-long series on several of my blogs, but this was the first time I actually made it all the way through the whole month and was able to put together a finale post.
Hopefully some of you got some benefit from the series. I know I learned a lot. Many of the posts force
I was rereading The Te of Piglet by Benjamin Hoffman. He explains the Chinese character Te.
"In Classical Chinese, it (Te) is written two ways.
The first joins the character for upright to the character
for heart. Its meaning is virtue. The second way adds the
character for left foot, which in Chinese signifies stepping out.
Its meaning is virtue in action."
Virtue in action. I like that. For me, that's what personal development is. Virtue in action. We have to to take action in order to grow and develop. It's been said that the more we are able to step out of our comfort zone , the more we are able to develop. Remember the first time you rode a bike, or jumped into the deep end of the pool. Pretty scary huh? But you did it and it wasn't to long before you were biking or swimming or whatever it was that was scary but fun to learn.
Remember there is virtue in action, and maybe a little bit of fun and personal development too.

101. Begin something new. Take Action. The most important part of any project is the beginning. Once you get past the starting point, you will be amazed at the momentum. The creative power of the universe responds by lining up the details to bring your dreams into manifestation. Coincidences begin to occur. Your job is to choose and then begin. It doesn’t matter all that much exactly what you do. You’ll have the opportunity to fine-tune the details of your doing on a moment-to-moment basis.
Don’t stress over it. Enjoy the process. Get your satisfaction and joy from the journey instead of reserving your enjoyment only for the destination. Realize that none of this can happen unless you actually begin. So, do something now and approach your goals and dreams one step at a time. This is a great article about the dark network and how are brains are designed to travel in time. We review our past and predict our future. This is our default mode. We spend more of our time away from the present than in it.
This might be the reason why we have such a hard time living in the moment because we are either thinking about what we have done, or thinking about what we are going to do. It may also give us a clue about the Law of Attraction and how we seem to attract what we don't want. Personal development and growth is probably, aside from diets, the most written about topic you will find today. Personal development and personal growth are concepts that take into account the realistic fact that life changes as we live it and we must both grow and change to be equal to the challenges. As we leave adolescence behind and become adults, we are expected to be able to build our own lives a

I was reading a post by Gary Ryan Blair called What Counts Most in his blog Personal Strategic Plan.
Gary writes "Every choice must have a purpose. Every choice counts. There are no insignificant choices, no neutral actions. Even the smallest gesture has a consequence, leading you toward or away from your goals ."
Sometimes its easy to forget that each small discipline , each small choice, accumulates. Its easy to say "just one won't hurt" or "I can do it tommorrow". And each choice you make, carries a momentum with it. Ever notice its easier to not go to the gym today, if you didn't go yesterday?
And each choice, carries a contagion factor, affecting other disciplines. If you miss the gymn on Tuesday, its easier to grab fast food Tues night.
Jim Rohn writes " All disciplines affect each other. Mistakenly the man says 'This is the only area where I let down.
"I cannot live without books…." Thomas Jefferson
"Miss a meal if you have to, but don't miss a book ."Jim Rohn
"These are not books, lumps of lifeless paper, but minds alive on the shelves.
From each of them goes out its own voice…" Gilbert Highet
There is no mistaking a real book when one meets it.
It is like falling in love… Christopher Morley
"The more that you read, the more things you will know.
The more you learn, the more places you'll go."

The books section of the website has been updated. Now you can browse through and purchase the personal development books that I have found to be effective, motivational and life changing. Some of the products that are offered as books can also be purchased as audio books, in order to use commute time more efficiently.
The categories with which the library is organized are not dissimilar to the general categories of this site. The current sections are:
Health
Mental Development
Wealth
Communication, Relationships
Productivity, Organization, Goal Setting
Success
The book titles link directly to a purchase page on Amazon.com for your convenience. As a disclosure, you should know that if you purchase the book from Amazon via my link I’m going to get a 4% commission that comes out of Amazon’s profit. In other words, you win by getting a great book, and I win by getting about a nickel for every purchase (hey those add up too!).
Why read books in the first place?

The Psalmist (probably David) said that, "Good people will prosper like palm trees, Grow tall like Lebanon cedars;" (Psalms 92:12, The Message). I particularly want to bring attention to the idea of growth here, but let's break this statement down piece by piece...Good people - Some versions refer to this as "righteous", but I'd like to put emphasis here on the idea that these people are "worthwhile". However you think of them, good people, upright, upstanding, and righteous people, are the ones that you want to have working for you.will - This is a definitive statement. There are no maybes here.prosper - Even by itself, the outlook here is good. "Good people will prosper." They will do well. They will do well in your organization. If they prosper, then it benefits the business. But, that's not enough... How much do they prosper?like palm trees - In the Scriptures, palm trees are often used as a sign of victory. More on the trees here in a moment.Grow - This is the key word that I w

You won’t give up your search for enlightenment and strive to gather that one piece of information or advice that will make you feel whole, allow you to live the life you deserve or make you quit smoking, lose weight, be richer, closer to your family or just be you happy.

Gleb from personal development ideas has a great article on the 3 golden rules of goal setting. Following his rules you should be able to:
“make goal setting a much easier process, and greatly increase the probability of your success”
Rule 1: Make sure your goal is valuable
Rule 2: Make sure your goal is an absolute necessity
Rule 3: Achieving a goal is a process, not just a result
Yes, there are other things you could do to increase goal achieving success rate, but it is also important to remember the fundamentals.
Which goal setting technique have you found to be most useful?

During my years in college my friends and I took an interest in a certain topic that deviated from our regular studies. We became curious as to how we could improve our skills with talking to and seducing girls. Before taking our curiosity to the streets and getting more experience of our own we went to the internet and began to search for answers. We knew there was always room for improvement but we hadn't even considered what we were about to find.
Seduction, the art of being a Pick Up Artist (PUA) was already being molded, perfected, and written about. We read with great angst and open minds; we knew this was an unorthodox approach and the things we were discovering were monumental and ingenious. They were also not what you would think them to be. Not just pick up lines and scripts of what to say to have the conversation go your way. At least not for me, I saw the bigger picture.
Some of the concepts these PUAs taught could be applied to other areas of life and did not always deal
Steve Pavlina's Personal Development Blog: "Gratitude equals wealth. Wealth equals gratitude. You've probably heard one of those expressions before… or at least something similar. Certainly the connection seems true on an internal, emotional level. It's hard to imagine feeling wealthy without also being grateful. And if you're truly grateful, you probably feel wealthy as well, regardless of your actual circumstances."
