      Vista and my Peripherals.
I've seen a few of Microsoft's new TV commercials for the, so-called, "Mohave Experiment" .The website has this:"What do people think of Windows Vista when they don't know it's Windows Vista? To find out, we disguised it as 'the next Microsoft Operating System' codenamed 'Mojave' and showed regular people, who've never used Windows Vista, what it could do so they could decide for themselves."Evid

Computer peripherals – to accelerate the performance of your PC
Computer peripheral is a term that is sometimes referred exclusively for devices that are connected externally, generally those that are connected through some form of computer bus like the USB. Its most commonexamples include joysticks, printers and scanners. However in a mixed opinion, some people say, internal devices like the video capture cards are not really computer peripherals since they are added inside the computer case. In their opinion the term peripherals is exclusively reserved for devices that are hooked up externally to the computer. It is arguable however whether PCMCIA cards qualify as peripherals under this biased definition. Because there are some hard wares that go fully inside the laptop, while some others like WiFi cards, have external appendages.Due to these delibera

Brando 3-Port Hub + Mini-USB Cable is Useful [Peripherals]
Brando has given the quirky R&D team the week off. In the meantime, they've actually got the innovative group into replace them, and the new clan has come up with something that's actually useful—a three socket USB hub, with a USB charging cable. The two nice features here are 1). The price point of $12 and 2). The fact that there is no need for an external power supply. Instead, the hub will connect to both USB ports on your laptop and draw enough power to charge up a device via USB mini cable, whilst simultaneously offering up 3 non-powered ports. So, you lose two ports, but gain three and one power positive cable—Kreb's cycle, eat your heart out. [Brando via Gadgetell]

The Jupiter Mouse is made of wood, easily fits the palm of your hand and controls the on-screen cursor by using tilting gestures. The astronomically great mouse retails at ¥13,980 ($136.10), and the control method actually seems quite interesting; tilting the mouse results in cursor movement in the relevant direction, and the magnitude of the tilt determines the pointer's velocity. Enable DMA for best performance of Peripherals..
'DMA' stands for Direct Memory Access. It helps to Peripheral to read & write to system memory without the interference of CPU. Hence this feature improves the system performance as CPU is not involved in the tasks.Today most of the peripherals like CD/DVD writers & ROMS support this feature. But sometimes by default this feature remains off in Windows XP. So if you want to check the status of this DMA follow these steps :-Go to Start & then Control Panel. Now click on System icon then System Properties will be opened. Now click on Hardware & then on Device Manager..Go to IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers & then Go to Primary IDE Channel..Under the tab Advanced Settings, check Transfer ModeThe transfer mode should be on 'DMA if Available'If it's on 'PIO only' then change it to 'DMA if Available'Also do the same check for Secondary IDE Channel..And then you will be able to take advantage of this feature of your device..Bob Matharoo

Hori Reveals new Xbox 360 Peripherals for Japan
Hori had a series of new Xbox 360 peripherals on display at the Tokyo Game Show this past weekend. Though the Virtua Fighter 5 fighting stick has already been released stateside, Japanese gamers (and importers alike) should note that the stick on display at the TGS showcased special edition artwork that is leagues better than the stick already released here in the US. I don't know how much the stick art means to everyone else, but I would almost think that it would be worth it to avoid purchasing the US release of the stick and pay the extra dollars to import the Japanese version which is coming November 1st. Like the American counterpart, the Fighting Stick EX2 remains wired. The second peripheral revealed is one I personally can't wait to get my hands on. Hori currently has designed a special flight stick for the Xbox 360 to coincide with the release of Ace Combat 6 exclusively on Microsoft's system. Unfortunately, the set up wasn't available to test out at the show, however,

Microsoft unleashes bevy of new webcam and mice peripherals
By Joel Hruska | Published: September 12, 2007 - 03:18PM CT Microsoft has launched a wide array of peripherals recently, and while webcams and mice may not be the most exciting products in the world, they are devices many of us find ourselves in the market for at one time or another. First up we have the LifeCam NX-3000 and VX-7000 products, both of which are heavily marketed as being integrated with Windows Live Messenger. The main difference between the two seems to come down to the camera’s megapixel rating (the NX is at 1.3 with the VX at 2.0) and the use of what Microsoft refers to has a “glass element lens” on the VX-7000. The viewing angle on the VX is also larger, and it features what Microsoft calls “Auto-Adjustment for Low Light Conditions” which probably translates into “jacked up contrast” in real English. MSRP sits at $59.95 on the NX-3000, $99.95 on the VX-7000.  As for mice, Microsoft has three new members of the family to intr

Microsoft Takes the Wheel, Retrofits Dodgy Driving Peripherals
After receiving reports of malfunctioning 360 Wireless Wheels, Microsoft has decided to cut to the chase and just fix the lot of them. In a handful of incidents, a component in the Wheel chassis overheated and began to smoke while the Wheel was plugged in to be recharged. If you're a Wheel owner (you lucky sod, you), you're advised to stop using the power supply until your unit has been retrofitted, but you can use it on battery power without worry. No injuries or property damage from smoking Wheels was reported, but Microsoft figures better safe than sorry. To get all the vital info about the retrofit, click here. Basically, you have to fill out a form, send it in, and wait to be told what happens next. Source: Game|Life Online Games Microsoft Xbox 360 Wireless Wheel

Motion-Sensitive Peripherals Coming To The PS2!
Imagine this. You want to play a nice little game of virtual tennis. So you boot up your favorite Sony system (mine is currently the PS3, but you know, the PS2 gave me some good times these past 6 years), pop in the disk, and then reach for the controller. The buttons you press cause the serves and volleys and groundstrokes you see on screen. Pretty cool, right? But wait, good sir! There is a new revolution coming. In2Games has announced a line of games whose controllers look appropriate to the respective games or sports. With tennis you use a tennis racket, and with golf you wield a golfclub. Then you just mimic the motions of whatever you’re playing, and your motions tranfer into actions on-screen. Pretty nifty, eh? No one’s ever seen something like this before! Plans like this have been seen on the PS2 before, but hopefully this one will be coming soon. Right now In2Games has announced Realplay Golf, Realplay Pool, Realplay Bowling, Realplay Racing, Realplay Tennis, and

Boynq offers up a myriad of artsy speakers, peripherals
It's been a tick since we've seen any randomness from Boynq's labs, but it looks like the firm has worked up quite a number of design-centric speaker stations, iPod sound systems, and superfluous USB-related gizmos of late. Among the standouts are the iCube II (pictured), which sports ten-watts of amplification, an iPod docking port, line-in, dedicated treble / bass controls, and a rather sexy look, too. Additionally, the tooth-shaped Sabre operates much like the aforementioned device but touts twice the wattage and a video output, and the USB-powered Alibi webcam looks an awful lot like a robotic pet of some sort. Do yourself a favor and check out a few more photos of Boynq's zany lineup after the jump.Continue reading Boynq offers up a myriad of artsy speakers, peripherals(Via Engadget.)
