We were in a hurry and there were people all around both of the pennies so I didn’t pick either one up. However, it did remind me that I found a penny several days ago. I believe I was walking to work but I could be wrong.

I’m sorry but that’s an absolutely awful article. Aside from the glaring spelling and grammar mistakes on practically every line, the arguments made are just plain bad. The first two out of the three points made are just straw man arguments. You set up scenarios in which some hypothetical person is buying shoes they don’t need at a discount or spending hours of time clipping coupons for marginal gain and use those to argue against the general concept that frugality can be a viable road to wealth.

Is it? Will I really find riches at the end of the tightwad road? I don’t think so. Their’s nothing wrong with saving money, and thiers nothing wrong with being carful not to waist money, but here are some good reasons it wont make rich.
It’s not saving. I know the add says you are saving 50%, or you are saving $10 on that pair of shoes, but is that other 50% going into your retirement fund? Are you suddenly $10 richer? The truth is no! I hate to be the one who breaks the news to you but those are just gimmicks used to make you SPEND money. It’s only beneficial if you needed to buy that item anyway.
