Mysterious news out of Happy Valley, where Penn State police investigated "an incident" at the apartment of defensive end Maurice Evans, cornerback A.J. Wallace and defensive tackle Abe Koroma for more than two hours last night:At least four Penn State Police vehicles were at the scene -- a Special Response Unit, two cruisers and an SUV.State College Police said Tuesday night they did not know any

Penn State Police confirmed today that they have filed charges against Nittany Lions basketball player Stanley Pringle in an incident involving public masturbation that occurred last Thursday in Pattee Library.
Police said Pringle, the team’s point guard, sat behind the victim in the stacks section of the library, attempted to start a conversation with [...]
A Penn State study due out this May in the issue of the Journal of Sexual Medicine measured the sexual “pleasure” factor, the end result, a major sex myth, busted.
Researchers Eric Corty and Jenay Guardiana at Penn State Erie did a study on the amount of time it took couples to reach sexual pleasure through [...]
There are a handful of Pittsburghers who have gained some level of greater notoriety through the wonders of the internet and specifically this site. Penguins fan GwenJen comes to mind. And who could forget the great Ronnie Florian, my personal all-time favorite? But one colorful character from the past seemed to have completely vanished into thin air. He was known as "Adam the Penn State Fan", he was a local high school kid, and he was best known for his blind praise of all things Penn State Nittany Lions in the Mondesi's House comment section. Adam's partisan arguments would bait Pitt fans time and time again, and the next thing you knew, we would have a full-fledged comment war on our hands. Judging from the recent survey I conducted, I know many of you long for those days. After visiting
Bad decisions. If you can boil down IU’s entire struggle with injured little meek please-govnah-don’t-hurt-us Penn State yesterday, that was it. Bad decisions.
Bad decisions from the three-point line. Bad decisions in the post. Bad decisions on defense. Whatever bad decision Jamarcus Ellis made in between now and last Wednesday. Most especially, bad decisions in the [...]
A game that Indiana hoped would be a tuneup for the Big Ten Tournament turned into a nightmare Sunday afternoon at the Bryce Jordan Center in University Park, Pennsylvania.
The Hoosiers (25-6, 14-4 Big Ten) shot a dismal 21 percent from three-point range and committed 17 turnovers in a shocking 68-64 overtime loss to Penn State.

I just came across this study that came out of Penn State University, it focused on the effects of whole grain on dieters. I think it’s so interesting because I’m a huge proponent of eating alot of whole grains. I did it for nutritional reasons because of the way it’s so much more dense in [...]
At long last, we've found the bond that unites Pitt and Penn State. And what occasion extended this olive branch? The time-honored tradition of hurling full beers at Ohio State fans. How do I know this? Because it was just revealed that a Pitt student was at the center of it all. Well done, boys.UPDATE: Pitt student identified in video; PSU fraternity faces citation [Centredaily.com]
Who says you can't wear your Ohio State gear to a Penn State game? Oh yeah, these people ... who throw beer and other random objects at passersby in Ohio State gear. (Video courtesy Big Ten Tailgate)UPDATE: Spokeswoman Annemarie Mountz says Penn State is "saddened" over the video and says it's not what the university is all about. University police are investigating. (AP)Lighten up, Annemarie.STUB HUB: The Safe Way to Buy & Sell Tickets Online
I tried to post this yesterday, but it kept disappearing from YouTube. There's not much more to say once you watch the video. But I'm sure some Penn State apologists will find a way to justify it. I'm suggesting something along the lines of, "Well, there's always a few bad apples..."
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) — Wisconsin’s defense is a work in progress. Badgers coach Bret Bielema is worried some younger defenders are playing tentatively, while experienced teammates might be pressing too hard to make plays. No. 19 Wisconsin needs to regroup in a hurry — another tough road test awaits Saturday against the Penn State Nittany Lions, who are eager to play football following a turbulent week off the field in Happy Valley. “We got to kind of get those two in line and in more…
These are not happy days in Happy Valley. We'll start with Austin Scott, of which The Big Lead asks, "Just How Much Trouble Is the PSU RB In?" and adds:While Scott’s suspension is being attritubted to a “curfew violation,” there may be more to the story. According to some anonymous posters on the Morning Call’s website, Scott may have gotten himself into some deep kimchi.Pretty heavy accusations being tossed around. On top of that, we have the weekend incidents of freshman tailback Joe Suhey and freshman backup punter Ryan Breen.JoePa, road rager himself, checked in yesterday on the state of the team:"Again, I go back to the fact that you [reporters] are trying to create a problem that I don't believe we have. Period. I don't want to talk about it. Really, it's a waste of my time and your time."I think we're making a lot out of nothing."Really? Penn State fans, any thoughts?
(CSTV U-WIRE) UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Penn State ACHA Division I Icers begin their road schedule Friday and Saturday against the Drexel Dragons in Philadelphia. The No. 1 Icers (2-0-0) are coming off of a shutout home weekend against Scranton. The team looked stellar, scoring nine goals in the first game and five in the second. Head coach Scott Balboni attributed the final scores to their conditioning. "I think it was a situation with the team we played," Balboni said. "We more…
We had a great time at the tail gate party hosted by Liberty Title. Pictured here next to me is Greg Koepp of Re/Max and Pam Wagner of Liberty in front of the bug. It was hosted in Angell House which is on the golf course. They set up a TV, lots of food, drinks and jello shots. There is plenty of grilling space out on the tennis courts. The big plus is a private bathroom. So we had a great time conversing and cheering on the U of M team. The weather was perfect. Where was this kind of punishment back when I was in school? Maybe then I wouldn't have been put on probation for cutting down a tree on the campus golf course to use for Christmas. From the AP:Two Penn State football players ordered to stand trial for their roles in an off-campus fight were expelled from school for part of the summer but will be allowed to take part in preseason practice. So they have their education taken away from them, but not football. Makes sense.Defense attorneys for starting safety Anthony Scirrotto and defensive lineman Chris Baker said yesterday their clients have accepted the university's punishment and will be expelled for the second summer semester, which begins July 3.At least they were expelled for a semester that really means something: summer. The players would be eligible to play this fall, the lawyers said. Of course they would. Hey, I thought expelled meant you were gone forever. Aren't they really just suspended ... from summer school?
By Andy Gardiner, USA TODAY Defensive standouts Anthony Scirrotto and Justin King are among six Penn State football players facing preliminary hearings Friday in Pennsylvania District Court for felony and misdemeanor charges stemming from an altercation in State College in the early morning hours of April 1. Attorneys have subpoenaed 37 witnesses, including 13 members of the more…
Well, the hammer fell today on the six Penn State footballers who were involved in an off-campus incident earlier this month. The sextuplet includes star defensive back Justin King (the same Justin King who received 30 hand-written letters from PSU assistant Tom Bradley in one day), safety Anthony Scirrotto (the Big 10 leader in INTs last season), defensive tackle Christopher Baker, linebacker Jerome Hayes, cornerback Lydell Sargeant and linebacker Tyrell Sales. Scirrotto and defensive tackle Christopher Baker face the most serious counts, including burglary, felony trespassing, harassment and simple assault. King and three other players face charges of criminal trespassing, harassment and disorderly conduct. Not good news at all for those young men or Lions fans. The inevitable follow-up question will be JoePa's reaction and any discipline to come down from the program or the school. And before you ask, yes, it is too late for these guys to declare for the NFL draft tomorrow.
In November, I unintentionally stirred up quite a hornet's nest with a simple discussion on why Pitt and Penn State no longer continue their football rivalry. Well, here we are in April, and the topic hasn't gone away. In fact, the debate is raging on stronger than ever around the net. Pittblather.com, my go-to Panther site, had a lengthy, must-read post a few days ago that really rattled some cages (doesn't every Pitt-PSU discussion?), generating hundreds of heated comments, including statements such as: I will rejoice when Paterno dies. He is Saddam rolled up in Castro with a dusting of Hitler. Enough said. Comment by geeman2001 04.16.07 @ 2:29 pm Little harsh and uncalled for, don't ya think, Geeman? Around these parts, we have "Adam the Penn State Fan", a die-hard Lion supporter who even comments about PSU issues on items not mentioning Penn State. Adam takes yours truly to task with "Rebuttle [sic] to Mondesi's House Penn State Article" on his newly-renovated blog, "Three

Looking at this group without the name "Penn State" attached to it would make you think this is the Indiana recruiting class (no offense, Hoosier football fan ... er, fans). You have to think, "Paterno is gone in two years, maybe one, max" when you see that there's no four or five-star rated QBs, RBs, or WRs in the pipeline.Anthony Morelli (2227 PaYd, 10 PaTD, 8 PaINT) is guaranteed the starting QB job next year. Pat Devlin (0 Stats), the top QB recruit from 2006, was hit with mono early last season and wisely sat out the year to save his four years of eligibility. I wish there was more to tell you about the passing game folks, but there ain't.At
By Mike GibsonUh, no.Just wanted to get your attention with that headline.Penn State is just too big, too deep and too fast for the Owls. This year at least.Yet this won't be a 62-0 game.Or even a 63-9 game. You can book it.Not that Penn State isn't every bit as good as Louisville, Minnesota or Clemson. The Nittany Lions just might be.It's just that the Owls were, in Temple coach Al Golden's words, "trying to find our way" for much of this first season of his regime. The Owls haven't found their way just yet, but at least are pointed in the right direction. The Owls can at least be competitive and very competitive if they depart from their "motis operandi" established in games against Kent State and Bowling Green. In those games, the Owls played two tight ends, power-I, and pounded Tim Brown to set up the play-action passes of Adam DiMichele. That won't work this time, because of the physical line on the defensive side of the ball Penn State has. However, if DiMichele can roll away from

Temple vs. Penn State wasn't always one-sided.When the Owls played the Lions during the Wayne Hardin Era, the games were often close.Penn State won, 26-25, in 1975, 31-30 in 1976 and 10-7 in 1978.I was in the press box for the 1978 game."Hardin's outcoaching Joe again," yelled out long-time Allentown Morning Call columnist John Kunda in the Vet Stadium press box.Much laughter, followed by much nodding of heads. The assembled press corps knew exactly what Kunda was talking about. Those games often featured a football version of the shell game.Hardin would run when Penn State expected to pass, throw formations at Paterno that Penn State never saw before, run a shovel pass here and a flea-flicker there to keep the Lions on their toes.Largely because of Hardin, Temple had the deserved reputation of a school that was outsmarting the other schools during a football game.It made those of us traveling with the Temple party very proud.Yet a win would have been nicer.During the 1

As sports fans, I think it is in our nature to fight. We want to prove our superiority by any means possible, be it physical or mental. We love to argue about the BCS, about what's wrong with the Steelers, and about how the Red Sox could spend $51 million just to negotiate with a free agent pitcher. We love to see our favorite teams battle each week, to the extent of feeling like we are a part of the team. That is why Steeler fans take losing so hard; that is why any true fan takes losing so hard. With that as the backdrop, an interesting storyline developed in the course of the 55 Things That Annoy Me About Sports discussion last week: the rivalry formerly known as Pitt vs. Penn State. If you haven't read the comments section of that piece, do yourself a favor and check it out. The talk moved seamlessly from gripes about broadcasters to name calling between Pitt and Penn State fans. Each side was trying to prove their superiority. But how do you argue a question when the answer loo
Here's a highly entertaining video from Penn State of a snowball fight/brawl/riot, complete with a bodyslam from an unnamed 6'4", 344-pound Nittany Lion defensive end. Pitt and Penn State fans, start your commenting engines.http://my.break.com/media/view.aspx?ContentID=228577
