Penguins are a group of aquatic, flightless birds living almost exclusively in the southern hemisphere. The number of penguin species is debated. Depending on which authority is followed, penguin biodiversity varies between 17 and 20 living species, all in the subfamily Spheniscinae. The largest living species is the Emperor Penguin : adults average about 1.1 m tall and weigh 35 kg or more.

The Pens swept the Senators in the first round, and became the first team since the 1994 New York Rangers to begin a playoff year with seven-straight wins. That 1994 team went on to win the Stanley Cup. They also have a 2-0 lead so far in the series. The MSG crowd was jumping before the game, and the Pens have really quieted the crowd. I don't remember the last time it was this quiet at The Garden.I really thought this series was the Rangers' to win. It's been really one-sided, though it could be a lot worse were it not for the generally good play of Henrik Lundqvist.Still a lot of hockey to go — but it doesn't look good right now for the Rangers.Only two teams have ever recovered from a 3-0 deficit in the playoffs, and it hasn't happened since 1975. Female penguins mate with males who bring them pebbles to build nests, and hummingbirds mate to gain access to productive flowers guarded by larger males. Now research shows that even affluent college students will still attempt to trade sexual currency for provisions. The exchange of resources for sex has occurred throughout history in many species, including humans. But recent findings suggest that such behaviors are hard wired, and persist no matter how much wealth, resources or security people obtain. Men are more likely to attempt to exchange investment for sex, and women are more likely to attempt to exchange sex for investment. Researchers interviewed 475 undergraduate students to discover if they attempted exchanges in reproductively relevant currencies outside of dating or formal

You don't normally expect to find penguins which are essentially a cold water species to mix with parrots which are essentially birds of tropical climes. However, on a lot of New Zealand's sub-antarctic islands such a mixture is relatively common. Red-crowned parakeets are found widespread on many Pacific islands, including the main islands of New Zealand itself. Here they make companions for rock-hopper penguins. On the Antipodes Islands can be found the Antipodes Island parakeet which has lost it's red-crown, and is endemic to the island group. The Antipodes Islands lie some 650 kilometres to the southeast of the southern extremity of the South Island - Stewart Island - of New Zealand. Front-Loaded Penguins
Woke up around 9 this morning and instantly remembered why I hate "Springing Forward". Of course, in two weeks I won't even be able to tell the difference. It was cold today, and windy, let's just say Don Quixote would've had his hands full. Luckily, I had a nice hat. Nothing showy, but comfortable.I'm not crazy about brimmed hats anymore. I don't think the whole brim fad will last much longer anyway.Typography has been interesting me lately. I'll never do the actual work involved in creating a usable font, I don't have the patience for it, but I like the idea of using it in my illustrations.Earth tones are really speaking to me lately. I've always loved them in general, but I'm really going to start limiting my palette to them. I'm not talking style change; well, I guess I am. Just a colo

Back home in Dublin the group may as well be from East Java considering the amount of fuss that is made of them. Ah well, perhaps they prefer it that way, gives them more time to tinker with their rust ridden instruments. You see the trio are obsessed by the junkyard yet precious vehicles of electro making noises the Mellotron, the Moog and the incomparable Farfisa (remember them Inspiral Carpets). With these base ingredients and Mark Cummins’ singing Electric Penguins fashioned a stellar debut in 2006 that was cheekily named ‘Goodbye To The Electric Penguins’. There are nods to Air and Kraftwerk yet Electric Penguins give the impression that there's more to them than mere revivalis

      Pixel Penguins Update!
Hi Penguins! As you might have noticed, I have found a way to put the actual Pixel Penguins program on my blog! The Pixel Penguins program will still be there, just not on this blog. Thanks!

Polar bears and penguins do not share habitats
The idea that polar bears and penguins populate the same geographical region is a common misconception that plagues far too many individual's minds. Sure, it might seem like a nice thing to believe - polar bears roaring ferociously, chasing poor, defenseless penguins around over snow and ice, and devouring them whole. This, however, is pure hogwash. Polar bears are entirely native to the northern hemisphere, on the complete opposite end of the Earth from where penguins make their homes. Perhaps the worst offender in spreading penguin-polar bear interaction lies is the Coca Cola company. Polar bears and penguins are frequently and unrealistically seen frolicking together and enjoying a refreshing bottle of Coke. It is high time Coke ended these commercials. I recently purchased a package of gift labels, only to find that much to my dismay a number of the labels featured penguins and polar bears jovially interacting. Such a sight would surely make any intelligent individual reb
