Historically marriage and engagement rings have been a symbol of unity for many years and came in the form of a simple iron hoop. Some years later this was followed by gold band rings. The symbol of the ring and its eternal circular shape was the main significance of the engagement ring, corresponding to the unification of a couple for a lifelong period. It is believed that the ancient Greeks had begun this trend for rings in marriage, as earlier studies have shown that marriages were arranged and drawn up from a contract, known as the dowry. However, whether the ring was used as a symbol of unity or bribe is yet to be proven. The Greeks had used the ring before marriage and was known as a betrothal ring. Nowadays this can be interpreted as a promise ring.
It's a new endeavor of an old love...I used FIMO when it first hit the market. Most of the pieces I sold or gave away - I have only a few beads, and two pendants I just didn't have the heart to let go of left from those days.Fast forward to a day I feel compelled to work with clay but can't get to a ceramic studio and don't have the fingers to use FIMO classic - working out the hard, finger-gnarling clay. I found FIMO soft! I bought a few colors to test it out and now have a nice collection, create my own colors by mixing, AND serve the Muse by creating some sculptured jewelry!I was extremely pleased to see that Peggy, of Lucky Girl Trading Co and fellow Etsy artist, had written a very nice feature about these new pendants on her blog Lucky Girl Trading Co. - Make Every Day Your Lucky D
I made these two wire wrap donut jade pendants today and I am quite happy with the results.
The first one (green jade) is a commissioned piece and features 3 4mm pearls at the front and one at the back of the pendant, coral bead (red) and another 4mm green bead (not sure of the name).
The second one is now available at my Etsy Shop (go check now!), features a donut pendant measuring about 3.7cm
Ahh..... I in a bliss. Of pendant makingks. :D I cannot tahan... I tried to refrain from making anything, because the Complementary class test is on Friday. But I cannot tahan... Yesterday night, I actually wanted to study and finish off 5 of the Medicinal Herbalism lectures. I ended up completing only three, with my mind registering the contents of only the first one. T-T Habis..... habis..... T-TI couldn't concentrate because I was thinking about them glass pendants. Just as I sat down and resolved to spend the rest of the night revising the lectures, I suddenly had this idea for making a pendant. T-T I couldn't resist, so after one lecture, I grabbed the supplies and started working.{Slurpilicious Animal Parfait ~ Kawaii!}I used colour pencils to intensify the outlines and shadings, so
I made some pendants yesterday, right after I tore open the packages containing supplies. I was a little nervous, because I've never used the glaze before, and I don't know how it'll work - how long for it to set, and if it's possible to clean it off the glass before setting.A lot of Etsy sellers and crafters are starting to get into this glass pendant thing. Majority prefers using Japanese washi and chiyogami paper as pendant base. Others in their attempt as to not follow the crowd, chose colourful scrapbooking papers and intricately designed wallpaper. Yet others try to incorporate Japanese kawaii into their products by using cute fabrics with animal motifs, namely squirrels, owls, birds and elephants.I've been racking my brains before I even ordered the supplies, as to what sort of desi
The Saligram are basically described as fossil-stones and characterized by the presence of discus marks. Saligram-stones (black stones in which fossil ammonites are embedded) are the most celebrated universally. Worship of these stones is widespread and dates back to a distant past. They are worshipped in temples, monasteries and households all over the world, as visible and natural emblems of Vishnu. They are also worshipped in quasi-religious functions like house-warming (grha-pravesa, vastu-puja), pacificatory rites of different sorts (santi), marriages and funerary rituals. The legend, related at length tells us that Lord Vishnu for benefit of mankind in kaliyuga comes in earth in the form of Saligram and in tulsi tree. Like the worship of Shiva in the form of a Linga, the worship of Vi

If you are the type of person that likes variety then you will love what you can find in the silver gemstone pendants. There is such diversity in colors and styles that you could easily have a different look every day of the year without wearing the same piece again. It can be challenging to find just the right pieces particularly for those who are really trying to stretch their dollars and get the most for their money. Of course one of the variables that will affect the price of the jewelry is the size and quality of the gemstone that is placed in the piece. This is one of the reasons it is important to know what characteristics to look for in certain gemstones. One of the things that one needs to look for and be knowledgeable about is the natural color of a certain stone. In the jewelry business the gems are sometimes enhanced by dyeing them to change the color of the stone. If you are trying to get a particular color that is okay but you don't want to be unpleasantly surprised by dye

Invest in the cause with a Paddle Pendant from jeweller Julia Turner. Interesting object for a piece of jewellery, huh? Well here is the remarkable story. The Paddle Project was started by artist Julia Turner who wanted to show her support for a friend who had been diagnosed with cancer. The silver canoe paddles she created are meant to be worn by friends and families of those battling cancer. They serve as a wonderful reminder to stick together for the survival of loved ones. The sterling silver one-and-a-quarter-inch paddle pendant sells for $25. $2.50 from the sale of each paddle is donated to the Breast Cancer Fund till January 2008. The paddle pendants come in s little box with a pink ribbon.
Here is one shot of all the Black-eyed Susan pendants and pins, it's a little off from the leaves shadows falling across my backboard.
I just found out the person who is going to be buying a bunch of these is from Maryland.
Her great, great, great grandfather or so James Ryder Randal wrote the poem that has become Maryland's State Song. As well as that Black-eyed Susan's are Maryland's State

Rebecca Grantham.Com,
Pendants are probably the best way you can express your love – whether you wear it or you gift it. It can be love for anything that you hold dear. A lot of us wear The Cross – that expresses our love for Christ, our faith in Him and that He is always near us and protecting us. Some of us also have his photograph in a pendant that we wear in a neck chain or thread around the neck. Not just God, we can express almost anything with the jewellery that we wear. And the two best pieces of jewellery that comes to my mind right now are pendants and bracelets, especially pendants, when it comes to expressing yourself. Whether you want to flaunt or create a certain look, it is really a great way to go about it. And the best thing about pendants is that you can wear it to work, to social get together, to outings with friends and also at home.Other related blogs:beads-jewellery.blogspot.com ex-beading-accessories.blogspot.com seed-beads-jewellery.blogspot.com jewellery-n-beads.blogspot.com
Silver need not just be a gift saved for your 25th wedding anniversary. Etched in Memories now offers a premim range of silver and gold pendants available for purchase as a gift for your loved ones.
I was very impressed by the journey behind the search for good quality pendants and Etched In Memories now has the pendants hand-made to a specification that will provide customers with a quality product at a reasonable price.
It certainly makes me feel very comfortable with shopping for such a personal item in a very impersonal online environment.
I have been doing some more experimenting with the liquid glass I mentioned a few weeks ago in my post about slumped plates. I have been mixing colors on art glass with promising results, and I’m pretty pleased with how these two pendants turned out.

Before carving and after glaze firing in an electric kiln, porcelain, colored slips, clear glaze, 9.5" x 14.25" x .25"New glazed porcelain pendantsIt's been another productive week in "Cindy Loo Hoo Land" and the adventures of making ceramic work in a cold garage studio. Lucky for me, Denver was spared the massive spring snow storm that was predicted. Hopefully, from this day forward, we can enjoy warm spring days and warm garages. The top image is a porcelain platter that I made by rolling out porcelain clay in the slab roller at the Art Student's League of Denver. I applied a colored slip to the clay while it was still green, painted on my design with shellac and then sgraffitoed away. I'm not sure if that's the proper past tense spelling of sgraffito or not, so bare with me. After bisque firing and then glaze firing with a clear cone 6 glaze, the colored slip is a soft celery green color. I will try to photograph this again in the near future, because I had a hard time capt

If you follow fashion trends at all, you may know that pendants are playing a major part in the current jewellery trends. Pendants in all styles are popular especially pieces featuring curves and circular motifs.
The Mother of Pearl Pendant from Beauty Banquet is just perfect for this season. Whilst strong colours seem to be the main feature, secondary colours such as pinks and plums are also popular.
According to oriental traditions, Mother of Pearl is also a very symbolic stone. Not only does it attract wealth but it also symbolizes prosperity and good luck. Need I say more!
Anne Maybus, owner of Beauty Banquet has also created a blog entitled The Tall Poppy. She covers a huge range of topics with the aim of encouraging women to take a risk and live a little.

I've been playing around with one-of-kind, hand painted pendants. I think to wear a piece of art is just the coolest thing! I decided to try something a little different, and to stick with a familiar image I love! I'm very pleased with the way this little batch turned out and the super shiny, resin finish makes them so pretty! Instead of "normal" fruit, I went for abnormal fruit, a black apple and yellow strawberry. As for the familiar image I love, the sacred heart. To take a decent photo of these little suckers was hard and I have to say, they look so much better in person - really! I've listed this batch in My Etsy Shop. I hope they do well and if they don't, I won't hesitate to hang any one of them around my neck. Especially the sacred heart. I'm a sucker for a fabulous, flaming heart!
