The damp weather today didn't deter me from taking a bicycle ride this morning. Instead of my springy mountain bike, I decided to take out my road bike, which is quite like an unsprung mountain bike with thin tyres and road style gears. Neither of my bikes are very expensive although both are a joy to use. When new, they both had a wide range of "street credible" stickers on them to make them look like the price I paid. I peeled most of them off and the bikes then looked much sleeker and less gimmicky. My only challenge before today's run was that one of the pedals is making a clicking sound. I took a look and there's something wrong with the thread. So I've swapped it temporarily with the pedal from a smaller bicycle. It works fine, but does look a little odd until I can get a proper replacement.

Last month Zane got his first bike. We had to store it for a while so he could grow a little taller to reach the pedals. I took it out on Monday evening and his feet actually reached. It's amazing what a difference a month can make.I took him out front to the sidewalk to see if I can get him to pedal himself. Of course, he didn't quite grasp the concept of pedalling to move forward. He rested his feet just above the pedals and wanted me to push/pull him up and down the street. He was so happy he was beaming. He also got very frustrated if I stopped. Up and down the street we went over and over and over again.I know he's only 16 months old, but I'm going to keep trying to train him to ride that bike. He walked early, so he might as well ride a bike early too. We’ve featured a great many zero emission vehicles here on TFTS of which a few have been pedal powered, but unlike previously featured vehicles this pedal powered car/bike hybrid will seat up to four people – all of whom have the option of contributing to the means of propulsion.
The four person pedal car, which is known as the 4Cycle Red and is manufactured by the German company ZEM, is 265cm in length, weighs in at 96kg and is manufactured from aluminium.
Features include four independent 7 speed SRAM S7 gear mechanisms (including reverse gears), low resistance tires, four hydraulically operated disc brakes (and a parking brake) and individually adjustable seats complete with seat belts.
The 4Cycle Red retails for €5960.
