Today, I did a little preparation for the second phase of my beaded Beatles Yellow Submarine. I looked in my bead stash, and realized that I only had one small bag of size 11 chartreuse seed beads. That's not nearly enough to bead four smiling whales. So, this afternoon, I did a little bead shopping. In addition to Opaque Chartreuse, I also picked up some Matte Silver-Lined Chartreuse, Opaque Green, and Matte Transparent Yellow.When I returned home, I began to create some felt whale shapes. I did this first by re-sizing my sketches and printing them out (see photo below). Each one varies in size from 4.5" to 6.5" wide. Bishop Cornelius Schilder of Ngo'ng who is recovering in Holland after being hospitalised says God turned him away when he knocked at Heaven's gates.
God appears to have concluded that the bishop still has a lot of work to do in Ngo'ng, a vast diocese in south Kenya covering the homeland of the Maasai. "I knocked at the door of heaven, but the Good Lord did not open the door, so I came back!" Bishop Schilder wrote to his flock.
"It seems that He wants me to still do more work in the Diocese of Ngong (and I think He also does not want me to leave my cows as orphans!)."
Bishop Schilder, 65, was admitted at Amsterdam University Hospital on July 13 after he collapsed at Schipol International Airport. He had been waiting to board a plane to the US.

I was all about resuming my blog posting and being more consistent about it right up until I converted the site to Drupal and found that I have all kinds of display errors. I know it's just some misplaced <div> or something, but it fucking pisses me off. So I abandoned the blog for a while again...again. I'll get around to fixing this stuff eventually, but I AM NOT designing for Internet Explorer 6! IE6 is a nightmare. If you still have IE6 then stop it already. Get a real browser so you can see what the web has to offer besides parasites and malware.

The bud actually looked like a luminescent kernel of pearly white and silver. Finn is smiling! I know the experts say babies don't smile socially at this age, but Finn is Gifted and Talented. He has been smiling at me and only me for a couple of days now and these beautiful moments are not accompanied by farts either. For a couple of weeks I've been catching fleeting glimpses of smiles while he's nursing; your typical guy - just happy to have a boob in his face and a nipple in his mouth. But these new smiles include direct eye contact and cooing. I think everything about this kid is completely adorable, even his toe-jam, but the smiles! They make my heart burst! I'm sure there is a chemical reaction in my body every time he does it that boosts my serotonin levels through the roof. I'm going to attach this blog to a message and put it into my reminders for the year 2021. Finn will be fifteen then and probably will only be gracing me with disgusted scowls. I'll need a little reminder of the good old days.
