The classically trained, left-of-center indie star's colorful adolescence and early twenties were unusually productive, resulting in two charming albums that found delicate string-and-piano pop pieces laced with guttural electronics. Both were charismatic but maudlin efforts, full of bittersweet montages, percussion-heavy compositions, and pissy, spit-out vocals that documented search after fruitless search for enlightenmen

As we grow older that muse takes on more and more baggage, rendering its initial miserable/joyous purity lost amongst the responsibilities of adulthood. Multi-instrumentalist/singer/songwriter Patrick Wolf harnessed that angst on 2003's moody and apocalyptic Lycanthropy, and has refined it without losing any of its edge on his latest: the elegant, volatile and still kind of apocalyptic Wind in the Wires. Wolf's voice has matured -- he's still only 21 -- into a lonely and powerful tool of judgment. [..] Lyrically, Wolf may revel in the

In fact, Lycanthropy (the belief that one is a wolf) begins with a wolf's howl. None of this, however, should detract from his formative compositions. This debut is relentlessly resourceful, never failing to reveal a new instrument (accordion, violin, recorder, to name a few). Augmented by laptop, Wolf's curious stories come to fruition with his accent-thick vocals and dark, biographical lyrics. Regular readers might have detected a slight fondness for a young musician named Patrick on this blog in the past.
Now I’m not a groupie, honest. Nor am I an obsessive. Not really. I’m just someone who loves his music, marvels at his brain, and was happy enough to meet him earlier this year after a gig in Camden. Admittedly I was a little drunk, still deaf from the loud Glaswegians on immediately before him and a little excitable, but I’m sure Patrick just thought I was charming when I rubbed his arm for half an hour (drunk) whilst shouting his name from one foot away (deaf) and then all but headlocked him into a photo with me (excited).
Yeah. Patrick, I really am very very sorry about that. I already seem to developing a reputation as a creepy stalker.
So, when I found out his recent tour brought him to a charming little Canadian city called Vancouver (again, a place you might have heard mention of here before), I bullied a friend of mine there into at

In a post on a message board, Patrick seemed very distraught -- tired of the pressure, of fame, of having to craft a personae. As such, he has announced his last show will be in November of this year, citing a need to do something else.
Hint magazine caught up with Patrick Wolf at his MisShapes gig on April 7th, where the singer talked refuted the existence of god and called President Bush an asshole. Then, during the gig, he ended up firing and assaulting his drummer onstage. Watch

I can’t say that I know much about Patrick Wolf. I’ve seen his name mentioned in various places that I can’t really remember but I don’t believe I’ve heard any of his music up until this album. This is the third album of this young singer/songwriter and is definitely one of the funnest albums I’ve heard this year (so far). According to Wikipedia, he plays a whole lot of instruments including guitar, piano, violin and about ten more. You can definitely hear it in the album, it’s filled with a lot of different sounds and textures and mostly sounds like one hell of a party. Not to say it’s shallow or hollow because it isn’t, it has its serious moments, its dramatic moments but overall, this album just makes me feel good. I definitely plan to follow him from now on.

It is kinda of unusual for us to have a male muse,.butthis time we could not help it and chose londoner Patrick Wolf with his third album "THE MAGIC POSITION".Check him out performing at Hiro Ballroom in NYC,..if you are one of the lucky few,..
Not quite as good as the laydeez C4 ad - but at least this one looks like they're all in the studio at the same time.So we have: The Horrors, Bat For Lashes, Unkle Jam, The Noisettes, Jack Peñate and Patrick Wolf. I love how they all try and get their 'personality' into their 2 seconds of spotlight. Fab.
Patrick Wolf - how can this musician be categorized? Impossible. Popmusic, with eletronic and a lot of other influences, innovative indiepop. He is born 1983 and plays many instruments including harp, harpsichord, guitar, piano, autoharp, organ, theremin, ukulele, viola and violin. Already in the age of eleven did he record songs.
His third album - Magic position - is newly released.
BBC has a presentation of Patrick Wolf with a photo of him with his red hair (on the records before his hair had other colours, he seems to change colour of his hair with every new record).Commuting life into music since he was 12, Wolf sees composition as a “best friend”, a cathartic coping mechanism. “Instead of writing a diary or going to see a counsellor or taking anti-depressants, I’d write songs.” On forthcoming album, The Magic Position, he is joined by kindred spirits Marianne Faithful and Edward Larrikin for a gloriously overblown rumination on love in its spiritual, platonic, romanti

This is the cover of Patrick Wolf's new album ->It's called 'The Magic Position' - it says so up there... ..look!Anyway the point we are making is that it is very good. It manages to make you feel as giddy as your Grandma after a few too many ginger wines at some points and as miserable as Jo O'Meara at others. You can evoke a bit of both of those sensations by watching this video (note the excellent use of the noise of a firework):Find out more about Patrick Wolf and buy his music by clicking on the links below - we suggest you don't ask him what the time is, chances are he's probably heard that one before.Official WebsitePatrick Wolf on WikipediaPatrick Wolf's MySpaceBuy 'The Magic Position' on iTunes therazorwire@gmail.comTRW's MySpace
