      Pôme: Haute Parisian Designer
Lovers of luxury assemble because there's a new kid on the block. Pôme, the latest label to hit Paris is captivating fashion critiques and Parisian fashionistas. The young fashion label's philosophy is to make clothes for the woman who appreciate luxury. This is evident is every piece in the spring and summer collections. Frilly frocks are carefully hand stitched with great attention to zig-zag piping, hand-sewn buttons and color blocking. The spring collection includes a myriad of luxurious fabrics like jacquard and silk. The label appeals to the younger set but the older ladies are still lusting after the label because the Pôme look is classic and timeless. My favorite collection is from the fall 07. Midday Open Thread: Parisian Olympic Protests, Court in Zimbabwe Elections, Release of Iranian Labor Leader
The Contentious French have their go at the Beijing Olympics, protesting at several sites along the route that the Olympic torch took through Paris. It certainly isn’t the first time there’s been a protest or boycott of the games. A court in Zimbabwe has said that it will rule to force the release of the results of the recent Presidential election, in which opposition leaders claimed they have won. The ruling will come down tomorrow. Iranian Labor Leader, Mahmoud Salehi, was released Sunday after serving a year-long prison term for union-organizing activities. Salehi, who was supposed to be released on March 23, had been on a hunger strike after Iranian authorities refused to release him, accusing him of “communicating with those outside prison for the purposes of issu

More Britons Investing in Parisian Properties
In the 1980s and early 1990s there was a trend for foreigners buying properties in the French capital, but this has slowed in recent years. Thanks to these reforms - and the new high-speed train service from London St Pancras - this trend looks set to be rekindled.House prices in Paris rose 9.9% last year. They are now slowing but the city is regaining its lost prestige.According to the Paris Chamber of Notaries, the proportion of flats in the French capital bought by foreigners rose from 5.2% in 1996, to 8.2% in 2006. British homebuyers represented 5% of foreign purchasers five years, but now account for a huge 10.8%, having bought 279 Parisian properties over the past 12 months.

      Parisian chocolate.
Ross gave me some fancy French chocolate yesterday, and it is amazing. Deliciousness. It was very thoughtful of him, too. It made me very happy.I'm not feeling especially well today. Negative thoughts are intruding far too often. I keep thinking about the former significant other because I had a dream about him last night. Well, not really about him, but he was in it. Never in my life have I felt such passionate feelings towards another... First love, and now hate. It's almost like it's the same feeling just colored a little differently. I still get paranoid, afraid I'll run into him while on campus. I don't want to see him, and yet part of me does. I want to see him but refuse to speak to him. I want to shun him. I want to... to hurt him.I've never wanted to intentionally hurt anyone before in my life. I'm a peaceful person, someone who is normally so full of love and kindness. I'm able to admit that. Yet with this one individual, I can honestly say that I would find pleasure

Parisian Chocolate Desserts Class with David Lebovitz
Friday night I attended the long awaited and sold out cooking demonstration and book signing by David Lebovitz at Draegers Cooking School in San Mateo. I’ve met plenty of tech bloggers, but David was actually the first food blogger I have met in person. David was extremely personable throughout the evening, joking frequently with the assistants and guests. Until David really got cooking, I had to remind myself I was at a cooking class and not watching a stand-up routine. At one point a guest asked if she could ask an unrelated question, and while she paused to choose the right wording, David quickly volunteered, “Briefs”. A man of many contradictions “I don’t really like sugary stuff,” David announced near the beginning of the class. David followed this confession with another shocker: he’s lactose intolerant. Meanwhile, proudly displayed at the edge of the counter were two of David’s cookbooks, The Great Book of chocolate and The Perfect
