The runway at the 2008 Paris Fashion Week was full of dapper devils when Paul Smith’s models took the stage. The notoriously conservative but quirky line lived up to its reputation with skinny ties and trousers, tailored 3-piece suits, and plenty of pinstripes and tweed. The disheveled but still disarming models were to be expected, [...]
At the 2008 Paris Fashion Week, there wasn’t a single Parisian beret in site, and yet Hermes‘ ready to wear line clearly suggested that hats will be back in 2009. From coy sun hats to true ten gallon cowboy hats, the heads of the Hermes models (and of the designer himself) were well covered to [...]

It was obvious at Paris Fashion Week that designers are ready for change. Aren’t we all? Some of our favorite collections included Alexander McQueen, John Galliano, Lanvin, Chanel, and YSL.
McQueen, who was inspired by a gnarled tree outside of his country home, provided us with a gorgeous, “nature” collection that was far and away one [...]
Coco Chanel famously remarked that fashion begins from the bottom up. While the bottom she referred to was the streets, for this post we're going to reinterpret it to mean the shoes (I think CC would understand and even encourage it), oui?Instead of our usual, clothes-focused show review (and because I've got a *serious* shoe itch this week), we're going to do something a little different and roun

This, my dears, is fashion. (click image to see larger size)A Yohji show these days can stop you in your tracks. It was quite hard to choose between so many great collections shown in Paris but here they are, my favorite five Parisian fashion shows:
Albert Kriemler, the founder of Akris label, designed a smart-casual, impeccable cut collection with a minimalist appeal. The one-color or similar-shades outfits with accentuated waist generate a long, lean and elegant look. I love everything from double-faced cashmere suits, the slick suede tunics worn over thin turtlenecks and slim pants, tulle dresses adorned with suede rectangles, envelope pockets seen on cashmere skirts and jackets but also on a long evening dress.

Some of fashion’s biggest and most influential players have shown at Paris Fashion week, most notably, Lanvin, Miu Miu, and Louis Vuitton, who all showed yesterday.
Alber Elbaz for Lanvin has finally uttered the words that every woman wants to hear from a designer, stating that, ‘ part of a designer’s job is to be pragmatic. Not to be ashamed to think about making life easy for a woman’. And this is exactly what Elbaz achieved. Focusing on the technical aspects of tailoring and design, this collection, although simplistic, was grown up and, dare I say it, practical. What a refreshing change!
Miu Miu, on the other hand displayed a sportswear themed collection...read more about Paris Fashion Week
Just as quickly as it was here, it was gone... Paris Prêt-à-Porter Fashion Week took place all over the city last week, bringing in stars from Kanye West to Maggie Gyllenhaal, Sofia Coppola to Dita von Teese. Here's a brief recap:Alexander McQueen's show was based on a fairy tale he made up called The Girl Who Lived In The Tree. His collection included everything from a very full black tulle skirted dress to slimming pants and jackets.John Galliano presented a surprising setting with even more surprising twists. Picture this: Kubla Khan's garden, lots of Buddhas, a gold leaf-filled pond, incense... and then... Michael Jackson's Thriller? Not exactly what the audience expected! His collection was full of color, wild hats, fun dresses, and early 20th Century gowns.Marc Jacobs' show was full
Paris Fashion Week for 2008 was over. It was on it's full swing last week and for sure it made the audience utter some "ohhs" and "ahhs" while the fashion houses and their models walked on the runway with their fashion collection. The critics (professional and non-professional) have spoken and the world's hottest designers probably have heard their cries. But among the critics' comments I have read, Lindsay Ferrier has the best. It's from a mom's point of view but I think singles can still relate to it.Here are some of the "funny" fashion outfits from different designers. To view more photos and Lindsay's take on these outfits, visit Suburban Turmoil.I hope you enjoy this post. yay!Bookmarkz

As always, alongside the New York and Milan Fashion Week, I present you the 'It' bag list for Paris Fashion Week S/S '08 collection. This coming season, you'll notice colors - lots of colors. Colors are in.. and so is leather. Exotic Leather. Paris's S/S '08 collection spots items that goes spectacularly well with your LBD because of its strong (and most often than not, solid) colors.Take the 'Hand-painted Clutch' by VBH, for example. It's so colorful, it can be a standalone - minus the accessories and it's enough to take other's breath away. And what about the 'Graphic Clutch' from Christian Dior? It's luxurious ponyskin as well as it's unique design gives others the idea that there is none like it. Definitely an accessory to carry on a dinner date. Be the envy of others while your beau serenades you. (Images from Style)
Louis Vuitton designer, Marc Jacobs, closed the fashion week in Paris with his Spring 2008 collection.Just in time for Halloween, Marc Jacobs has a naughty nurse costume for you. The first part of the show included a lot of 1950's style clear perspex nurse uniforms worn over bright coloured mini dresses. They had white nurses hats with a single red letter on the front, spelling out "Louis Vuitton". The clothing was kept relatively plain to highlight the bright coloured totes which were being carried. The bags came in a range of shapes and sizes although the oversized trend was still important. They were created in a mirage of colours with each tote featuring at least two shades. While here are the rest of the collection: Models paraded in flashy outfits with some sheer energy — all the way up to the top of models' heads with sheer headpieces.Photo Source
Victoria Beckham has been seeing the sights (skinny women in expensive clothes) that Paris fashion week has to hold. Except for her fake tits she fit in well. Victoria was seen wearing a cute teal dress when she attended the Chanel fashion catwalk show on Friday.
Victoria also helped Roberto Cavalli launch his new flagship store in Paris.
I wish she’d stick to dresses that don’t show off her fake clevage, they look like Jelly tots stuck under her skin.

Is Coco Chanel turning in here grave, or am I overreacting? With mixed feeling about what Karl Laggerfield had in his mind for the fashion house and what actually was represented on the catwalk, I didnt see much "ladylike" designs that would make Coco proud. Instead I saw more of Karls love for snow, skiing and rebellious cuts. Don't get me wrong it wasnt all a waste of time, and fabric, I was just disappointed because I was looking forward to some cute yet modern take on the classic styles of Chanel. But, as I always say "There's always next season". Digg this article! Bookmark it on del.icio.us!
Its all in the sleeve or lack there of at the Lanvin runway show. Big Bows accentuate simple dresses. I think the trend this season was a back to basics look, many of the designers are doing some pretty simple retro stuff. I would wear them with shirts under to add more layers and flair, add a belt or soemthing. Its pretty cool, because you can play up or play down the dresses.I loved the accessories, the neclace and pumps were banging!
I usually love Chloe's fashion shows, and the clothes. Here is a case where I like neither. The only thing I really liked were the handbags. I don’t know I'm just not feeling the rebellious upper crust look. I think the dresses are too embellished with glasses and the punchy oranges are just not my speed, except as an accessory. Anyways, I wait to see how people where it on the streets, I might like it then. I really miss the flirty lil dresses and blouses they had. Like time changes, so does fashion. Whatever, there’s always going to be next season and thrift shops. Digg this article! Bookmark it on del.icio.us!
Its hard to beleive that March Jacobs has been at LV for ten years now. But we can see so much maturity in his work, it's ineveitable as such a perceptive mind could have only matured to this level peresnt on the runway. There is still utlra femine looks, but with a edge known to Marc. French culture and glamour mix with american flare. The play on the typical french Beret and the use of belts with everything from the fluffy bubble dresses to the more suit-like creations makes for a collection that is easy ripped off the runway ready for store fronts all over a la Paris or NYC.J'adore Louis Vuitton!I'm so in love wit these shoes!!! John Galliano I really enjoyed John Galliano's show. It was real theater. Especially Sasha Pivovarova's underlined puppet like appearence (as usual!). Enjoy the whole collection here.Vionnet It was a low key appointment only presentation... The Paris ready-to-wear shows kicked off on Sunday with the French fashion industry’s leading official saying he did not believe organizers should ban the use of models considered underweight.
Didier Grumbach, head of the Chambre Syndicale — the body that governs French fashion — said that he did not plan to follow in the footsteps of Spanish authorities in setting guidelines for the minimum weight of models who appear on the catwalks.
“I think it’s a non-issue. You don’t solve public health problems by regulating the size of models,” he told The Associated Press on Sunday. “You know, fashion is only the reflection of what is happening in society. It is not the cause.”
France’s Health Ministry recently announced it was setting up a working group on body image, with the aim of establishing a charter with advertisers banning the use of excessively thin models. Grumbach said he did not plan to take part in the government talks.

OMG OMG OMG...So last week I was loosing interest in high fashion, and this week I'm at the brim with excitement to see what’s going to be popping up on the Parisian catwalks! Right now I must run and get some work and errands done. See you later or in true Parisian style, A tout a l'heure!
While Milan had romance, Paris said it with flowers. The floral dance began at Balenciaga, where Nicolas Ghesquière delivered an electrifying collection in peony, rose, gladioli, violet and gardenia prints from the archives, digitally enhanced for supranormal shape and colour possible only in computer-land.
In sumptuous fabrics, such as silk faille ...
