Blog Rating I’m not sure when I became a morning person. Possibly it was right around the same time I started drinking coffee. Even through my late 20’s I remember sleeping in…until 10 or 11am or so. Microsoft has confirmed they will be including a new feature on the Xbox 360 entitled “Family Timer”. Family timer is a new addition to the 360’s parental controls that allows parents to limit play time on a daily or weekly basis. When the time limit is reached the console shuts down.
According to Microsoft 90% of parents have some sort of video game restriction for their children, so they feel this feature is a much needed addition.
What if little Johnny is almost at the end of Fire and Flames on expert (Guitar Hero III) and all of a sudden the console shuts down? Maybe little Johnny should have listened when his parents told him the last time. I am not sure how many parents will even know this feature exists or for that matter how to even turn on their child’s xbox in the first place.
My advice for little Johnny…find or guess the password!

Reports have surfaced on the net that there may (we use the term ‘may’ advisably) be a parental timer on its way for Microsoft’s Xbox 360 gaming console allowing parents to enforce strictly regulated, timetabled ‘games time’ for their children – though, at the time of writing, we are unable to substantiate the rumour (regardless of what is being purported as being proof to back up the speculation).
The Speculation stems from a Teamxbox member going by the psudomin of ‘xgdfaith’ who claims that, having purchased a copy of Guitar Hero III Keychain the package came with a pamphlet that described the features of a parental timer that is (allegedly) due to become available via Xbox Live in December 07.
According to the apparent pamphlet the timer is ‘a simple tool that lets you manage how much time your kids spend on their Xbox 360.’ It goes on to say that you can ‘manage in daily or weekly increments’ and that the supposed tool will ‘become available in December
