The Panasonic Lumix DMC-G1 may look like yet another digital SLR, but it's not. The G1 is the first Micro FourThirds camera, which does away with the mirror and optical viewfinder of a traditional D-SLR. Since there's no mirror box taking up space, this allowed Panasonic to shrink the dimensions of the camera and its lens mount. The result is the smallest camera on the market with interchangeable

Panasonic puts a great deal of effort into their Lumix line. And they keep producing winners. The FZ18 is, in one word, a gem. There is little radical in the way of new design. The well-established basic Lumix FZ design remains intact. Not quite a pocket camera like the worthy Lumix TZ3 and smaller than the somewhat more sophisticated and substantially larger FZ50. Well i’ve had an old camera for a long time. It’s specs were soemwhere around 3.0 Megapixels, a 1.5″ screen and not many special features. Recently the quality suddenly dropped when i compared it to my friends 5.0 Megapixel Sony Cybershot. The photos also had some sort of pinkish tint to them. So it was [...]

One thing about the digital camera revolution; it’s certainly opened up the photography market to companies that previously would only have touched a camera to take their holiday snaps. As shown by the examples of Sony, Casio, Samsung, Epson and HP, companies that previously specialised in home and office electronics have been able to carve out very respectable chunks of the market, while some

At first glance, the LUMIX FS5 looks like the FX-35, or any of the many LUMIX compact cameras by Panasonic. The FS-series, however, is slightly lower specified than the popular FX-series, and is targeted towards ease of use and simplicity. This doesn’t make the FS5 any less of a camera though.

PRICE:$278.00 - $350.00Panasonic 's FX line has been known for its superb features—in fact, most of its cameras have capabilities not seen in competing models. And the new FX35 (the follow-up to the FX55) has a lot to offer, like a new 4.4mm to 17.6mm wide-angle Leica lens (35mm equivalent: 25mm to 100mm), an aperture range from f/2.8 to f/5.6, a 4X optical zoom, and an improved Intelligent Auto (IA) mode. The camera is also equipped with a generous 27MB of internal memory, accepts SD and SDHC cards, and adds compatibility with MMC cards, though only in still-shot mode. Unfortunately, one of my favorite features disappeared: the top-notch joystick controller found on the FX55 and FS20. The loss of that unique control, coupled with average image quality, lands this camera right back in th

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-L10 feels solid and purposeful, both necessary qualities for an expensive, prosumer DSLR. The body is pleasingly shaped and suitably proportioned, and with the lens attached (the Leica D Vario-Elmar from Panasonic's standard kit), it's appreciably massy without being too heavy for a full day of shooting. Moreover, it simply looks nice, complete with that imposing, pro-chic allure typical of SLR cameras. The bevy of controls and buttons could make for a learning-curve with neophytes, but seasoned SLR users should quickly find themselves at home with the design. Panasonic seems to have elected for more buttons over an increased reliance on menus, so the DMC-L10 is a bit control-happy, but with familiarity the controls proved intuitive. Best yet, Panasonic has included

The second D-SLR from Panasonic, this 10-megapixel model is quite different than the original 7-megapixel Lumix DMC-L1. The latter—built like a tank, and still available—is an unusually traditional model in many respects. It resembles a large/heavy 35mm rangefinder camera and features “retro”-style controls, including a mechanical aperture ring on the wide-aperture Leica D 14-50mm f/2.8-3.5 zoom that’s part of the DMC-L1 kit. By contrast, the DMC-L10—with its more compact lens—is far more portable and sports the more common types of controls found on the Lumix DMC-FZ18 digicam. As a bonus, the DMC-L10 includes some very convenient extra features, some originally designed for the Lumix digicams, to increase versatility and ease of use.Peter K. Burianmore : shutterbug

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX500 features touchscreen, 720p movie modeIf Panasonic's Lumix DMC-FX500 skipped out on PMA in order to get fitted with a touchscreen LCD monitor and HD recording capabilities, we'd say it was certainly a smart move. I know recently we’ve been talking a lot about digital cameras, but it’s because I’ve had it on my mind. I just purchased a Panasonic Lumix FX55, and I’ve been fiddling around with it and using it.
It had been high time for me to replace my old digital camera, which I had been using for about six years. It was large and bulky, and one of my friends, when I pulled the old camera out to use, joked, “What is that, your fax machine?”
All jokes aside, I knew I wanted a new camera that was sleek, slim, and good at taking pictures. I’ve always been drawn to the Panasonic brand for its consistently high quality, and here was a new line of cameras from them that were quite sleek (especially in black!), pretty slim, and excellent for photography.
The display LCD is very large, and despite a month of use now, there are no scratches, so the material for the screen is quite strong. Also, the buttons are convenient to use, with an easy button for delet
28 November 2007 - The Panasonic Lumix DMC-L10, to give it its full title, espouses the rangefinderesque styling and design of its blocky L1 brethren and instead Panasonic has opted for a more traditional looking digital SLR with compact and lightweight lines and a 10.1-megapixel Live MOS sensor that provides the neat Live View functionality. The new 14-50mm Leica D Vario-Elmar F3.5-F5.6 zoom kit lens provides a very useful 28-100mm 35mm format equivalent focal range but is a slower aperture affair over the L1’s lens (it has a F2.8 to F3.5 aperture range) with a more modest F3.8-F5.6 maximum aperture range and is the benefit of the continuing strategic alliance with Leica for lenses.Panasonics MEGA OIS (optical image stabilisation) is built into the lens and works very well indeed and helps offset some of the slower aperture problems you’ll encounter in low light for example, where you will slower shutter speeds at your disposal. However, it makes control of depth of field less flex
The Lumix DMC-L10 is Panasonic’s second digital SLR, and unlike its debut model, this one’s aimed squarely at the consumer market. Launched at the IFA trade show in Berlin during August 2007, the new L10 shares little more than a lens mount with Panasonic’s debut DSLR, the somewhat esoteric L1. So while both models are based on the Four Thirds standard, almost everything else is different. The new Lumix L10 sports the same 10 Megapixel N-MOS sensor as the Olympus E-410 and E-510 models, equipping the camera with Live View facilities. Making these much more useful though is the L10’s flip-out screen – the first we’ve seen on a DSLR since the Olympus E-330. Panasonic has further exploited the benefits of Live View to support contrast-based AF which allows the L10 to focus during Live View without flipping its mirror back and forth. The L10 even supports Face Detection – a first for a DSLR.While the Lumix L10 can use any lens designed for the Four Thirds system, you’ll need

When Panasonic introduced its first digital SLR, the Lumix DMC-L1, a lot of people had high hopes, which were subsequently dashed. Now, Panasonic has put out the 10-megapixel Lumix DMC-L10. If the L1 was Panasonic dipping its toes in the SLR pool, then the L10 is Panasonic diving into the deep end. Will the DMC-L10 sink or swim? Let's find out.Panasonic is marketing the L10 as an entry-level SLR, and its design works well for that market. It's on the small side, has an articulated LCD that can flip out to the left of the camera and swivel 270 degrees, live-view shooting, and its control buttons are laid out a lot like a superzoom or compact camera. The vast majority of buttons are on the right-hand side of the camera and reachable quickly and easily by thumb or forefinger. Like more and more SLRs lately, the grip is short, so your pinky dangles while shooting. However, it does have a nice shape, with a cutaway for your middle finger and a contoured area on the top of the camera back
The second full-featured digital SLR from Panasonic is the new Lumix DMC-L10. And while Panasonic is a relative newcomer to the SLR marketplace, the L10 packs an impressive set of features and a very interesting lens into one unique camera kit.The DMC-L10 is a traditional-looking camera that looks something like a cross between an old fashioned film SLR and the Panasonic DMC-FZ50 all-in-one camera. The L10 comes loaded with new features including a fully articulating LCD monitor, improved user menus, a full ten megapixels of resolution and the ability to use contrast-detection auto focus in Live View mode using the sensor itself (though only with compatible lenses). There are also several features that have migrated from Panasonic's compact Lumix range, including Intelligent ISO mode, image stabilization built into the lens, and compatibility with SD and SDHC memory cards. We have added a new member to our family (camera), Panasonic Lumix LX2.
The reason I bought this LX2 because of 28mm, 16:9 ratio aspect, Range finder like :D.
Now yAu yAu took over Fujifilm Finepix F31fd.
After I have used LX2 for 1 week, I have identified some Pros and Cons for both cameras.
F31fd’s Pros:
1. Excellent high ISO quality. Used until ISO1600 also no problem.
2. Fast Operation.
3. Vibrant color.
4. Face detection.
5. Fast auto focus.
6. Clearer LCD - 230,000 pixels
7. Easier to find pouch for storage F31fd because the lens is in the body when power off.
F31fd’s Cons:
1. No 28mm wide angle.
2. No Image Stabilizer.
LX2’s Pros:
1. 28mm wide angle.
2. The photo more perspective with 16:9 ratio aspect.
3. Full manual control, similar to DSLR.
4. AE/A Lock.
5. 9 auto focus points - allow selective focus as well.
6. Auto-Bracketing - 3 photos from -2 to +2.
7. Allow capture in RAW format.
8. Flash power compensation.
9. Mega OIS works like a charm
The perfect choice for any photographer with varied photographic needs and high ambitions – Panasonic is pleased to introduce the new DMC-FZ18 8.1-megapixel Lumix camera, featuring a powerful 18x optical zoom (equivalent to 28-504mm on a 35mm film camera), newly developed 28mm wide-angle LEICA DC VARIO-ELMARIT lens and Panasonic’s new and unique Intelligent Auto Mode.
