Embattled Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert declared on Sunday that Israel and the Palestinians have never been closer to making peace - even as a widening corruption investigation brings him closer than ever to being ousted from office. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas - who met with Olmert at the French presidential palace before a summit of European, Middle Eastern and African leaders - als

They believe a key factor in achieving any permanent resolution of problems in the dispute with Israel centers around the ability of Hamas and Fatah [...]
The Berlin Conference of Palestinian Civil Security was attended by 40 nations meeting in Berlin for the ostensible purpose of raising money to assist in development of the justice and police infrastructure of the Palestinian Authority. GAZA, (PIC)-- Palestinian resistance factions strongly denounced Friday the recent statements of Tony Blair, the envoy of the quartet committee to the middle east, in which he stressed that the PA security apparatuses in the West Bank were designed for protecting and guarding the Israeli occupation, highlighting that the resistance is a red line that no one could overstep. The notion of Barack Obama becoming President is so preposterous, it cannot be parodied. This al-Jazeera report about Palestinians in Gaza — the folks who elected the terror group Hamas to run the government — appears to be completely on the level. The same folks who passed out candy in celebration on 9/11 are [...]
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Bush administration has told Israeli and Palestinian leaders they will need to show progress in their secret talks soon, or risk a potentially fatal erosion in public support for a process now in its sixth month without any obvious successes.
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice passed that message during meetings with both [...]
No matter what the Israelis or Americans or Europeans attempt to do, there will not be peace with the "palestinians". Every attempt has been made to appease these murderers yet they are never content. They could've had their own country by now yet the continue to want more. By more I mean they want Israel gone. They want the land that Israel sits on.

The recent revelation of the Palestinian mindset changing from a silent majority of peace loving Arabs held hostage in a cycle of conflict with Israel by an internal radical terrorist fringe, into an all out terror worshiping nation had its roots in four major blunders. Many world leaders are turning a blind eye or trying to ignore this by other means, and therefore they have no hope to pinpoint these issues. The better international leaders, such as President Bush, are aware of the problems, but they have bigger issues demanding their priority, and so a full review of these issues never gets added to the sum of what Western Foreign Policy should be in the Middle-East. But I have the luxury of speaking of Utopian ideals, so I intend to, and hope that others will do likewise. My one goal

As Reported in the Jerusalem Post, according to a NY Times Poll, 84% of Palestinians approve of the slaughter of the innocent, peace loving youths at the Mercaz HaRav Yeshiva. (Photo: Yehuda Boltshauser, Israel National News) While one should not hastily decide the fate of an entire people based on the results of a single poll, the horror of recent times and the collective body of evidence points to one thing, the fact that the dream of Palestinian Statehood West of the Jordan has come to an end. It is a dream I must confess that I too dreamt. Imagine… Israel performing charity that no nation would have seriously even considered attempting… ( …for themselves… even though they have tried to force it down Israel’s throat). Only in an act of pure kindness and charity could Isr
Courtesy of the Boston Globe, we finally have proof of what I have been saying since September 12, 2001, when we saw live video of Palestinians celebrating the attacks on the WTC in the streets of Gaza and the West Bank. That we did not drop nukes like we did on Japan in response to [...]
I am not a proponent of polls. Most are worth less than the paper they get printed on and definitely aren't worth the time to conduct. On top of this, most are skewed based on the way the questioning is worded. However, for the sake of something to write about I figured I would use the most recent "palestinian" pool in regards to it's leadership.
Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh would

The conflict between Jews and Arabs over Palestine arose soon after Russian Jews began to immigrate into Palestine in 1882. No solution acceptable to both sides is yet in sight, but it is possible to identify the least unsatisfactory solution by a process of elimination.A solution that still has adherents is a binational, democratic, secular Palestinian State with an Arab majority and a large Jewish minority. It was rejected at the Biltmore Conference in May 1942, in which Zionist and non-Zionist organizations participated. The great majority voted for the Biltmore Program, which aimed at establishing a Jewish State in Palestine. A binational State was never a realistic option.
child_suicide_bomber Originally uploaded by BHowdy There are approximately 90 to 125 times as many Muslims as there are Jews [1.61 Billion Muslims to approximately 12.8 to 18.2 million Jews depending on one's definition of a Jew] so if every time Muslims picked a fight with Jews only 10 Muslims got killed for every 1 Jew that would be very unfair and intolerable to say the least. No, if Jews want to survive there has to be at least a 100 dead Muslims for every 1 Jew in order for the fight to be fair.
I mention this because one of my readers left this comment: "Since Sept 29, 2000 the number of Israeli children killed by Palestinians is 199. The number of Palestinian children killed by Israelis is 971."
What I don't understand is how numbers alone have any meaning. If Palestinians killed 199 Jewish children then, to be fair, Israel should have killed at least 18,000 Palestinian children, to do less is a losing battle given the huge numbers of Muslims in the world and their r
A new survey by the Palestinian led Jerusalem Media and Communications Center indicates Hamas has suffered a significant decline in popularity among Palestinians. About 47% of people support the Abbas government and only 24% are supporting the Hamas government. It is most surprising that even in the Gaza strip which is controlled by Hamas, 44% [...]
This was originally intended as a response to this post by Bozwell, but I thought it would make a good stand-alone op/ed piece.
What intrigues me about the whole Palestine as "confiscated land" mantra is that it was a multi-lateral decision to do so; one of the first (if not the first) mandates of the then-newly formed UN. Prior to Palestinian land being Israeli land, it belonged to the British who wrested it from the Ottoman Turks in the aftermath of WWI. Today's Palestinians always speak of "their land" when it never was a sovereign nation. It was always owned by somebody else, and the people who call themselves Palestinians were the subjects of those foreign occupiers. And here's the big rub: The Palestinians for over a thousand years never seemed to care. It's only when that land was allocated to the Jews that they got their kababs in a twist. And to be certain, if the Palestinians had tried with the Turks the same militant terror tactics they now use in an attempt to establish
Who are Iran's biggest supporters? The Palestinians, according to a recent survey:
The survey, taken by the Pew Global Attitudes Project, found that 58 percent of the Palestinian public are in favor of Tehran acquiring atomic weapons, making Palestinians the only Middle Eastern population not opposed to an Iranian bomb.
"Most of the Muslim countries surveyed have negative or mixed opinions of Iran. Majorities among just three Muslim publics – in Pakistan, Bangladesh and the Palestinian territories – say they favor Iran acquiring nuclear weapons," the survey said.
The poll added that "positive views of Iran have declined sharply over the past year in three Muslim countries – Indonesia, Egypt, and, especially, Turkey."
When it came to attitudes towards the US, Israel and the Palestinians were placed, unsurprisingly, on opposite ends of the spectrum.
Only six percent of Palestinians expressed support for the US-led war on terror, the lowest of any population, while just

Jerusalem, June 6 (Xinhua) A meeting between Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas scheduled for Thursday has been postponed at the Palestinians’ request, Olmert’s office said Wednesday.
According to the prime minister’s office, the main divergence of the two sides was the Palestinian taxes, which were withheld by Israel.
Media reports quoted chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat as saying that Israel refused the Palestinian’s request for the release of the money.
Other Palestinian officials said Israel was also unwilling to accept a Palestinian demand to revive the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip on condition that it is extended to the West Bank.
Warning: this piece is highly opinionated. It is nevertheless my honest opinion. My impression of the reality, my interpretation of the facts, and my reflection on the state of affairs. Mine only.Today:Today's headlines: "Mortar strike wounds Israeli troups", "Lebanon camp offensive continues!", "Seven US soldiers killed in Iraq"... The Middle East... How did we ever let it come this far?In a previous post, I stated that today, 5.7 million people in the world were long term refugees. That excluded the Palestinians. 4.3 million Palestinians have been "Refugees for Life" since 1948. 4.3 million... That is about the whole population of Norway. Or half of New York city.Since 1948, time and again, the "Palestinian Issue" became front page news. An excellent historic overview, you find in this summary. But have a look also at the UNRWA overview of the issue, which includes a lot of pictorial data.According to me, the "Palestinian Issue" has been at the basis of most conflicts in the Middle

Tel Aviv, April 28 (DPA) Israeli soldiers shot dead four militant Palestinians near the Gaza Strip border Saturday, a military spokeswoman here said.
The armed men had tried to lay explosives near the security barrier between Israel and the Gaza Strip, she said.
Soldiers noticed what the four were doing and fired at them, she reported.
Since the start of a ceasefire in November, there have been more than 50 such attempts to lay explosives at the security barrier, the spokeswoman said.

In the first article here, from the Jerusalem Post, we find out that Fatah overlord Muhammed Dahlan's nephew was kidnapped:Tensions between Fatah and Hamas were again running high in the Gaza Strip following the kidnapping of Fatah leader Muhammad Dahlan's nephew by Hamas gunmen on Sunday afternoon.According to reports, Ashraf Dahlan was stopped at a Hamas checkpoint when the incident occurred. Currently there is no information of his whereabouts, nor have any demands been issued for his release. And I won't shed any tears for him. Terrorists, and it's most likely that he was too, aren't deserving of any sympathy for their "problems".In the second article, also from the JPost, this is quite a surprise: "palestinians" saying that they don't deserve a state, and even admitting that they're ashamed to call themselves palestinians!"Everyone here is disgusted by what's happening in the Gaza Strip," said Shireen Atiyeh, a 30-year-old mother of three working in one of the Palestinian A
