Crayton caught 2 scoring passes and Folk kicked 3 field goals in Irving, as Dallas won the 2nd meeting between the National Football League teams with 10-1 records in thirty-seven years. Cowboys’ 6th straight win lifted the team ahead of Green Bay atop the NFC with 4 regular- season games left. Dallas can still clinch the NFC East Division title if the NY Giants (7-4) lose at Chicago (5-6) on December 2.

NFL Wrap: The Cowboys take out Favre and the Packers
Brett Favre came into this game with an 0-8 Record against Dallas and his losing streak continued in this one with the Cowboys defeating the Packers 37-27. The downpoint of the game for Favre was in the second quarter when he was hit as he was throwing by Nathan Jones and was also intercepted on the play. That may not have been so bad but he was also hurt in the process and did not return. Aaron Rodgers replaced Favre. He struggled a bit on the first drive but in the end he showed that he was worth being drafted in the first round. Rodgers played stellar, going 18-26 for 201 yards and a TD. He also rushed for a few key first downs. Tony Romo and Terrell Owens had monster games though both coming up with big plays. Romo went 19-30 for 309 yards and 4 TD’s while Owens had 7 catches for 156 yards and a touchdown. It would have been two touchdowns if it wasn’t for one of the stranger plays I’ve seen. Tony Romo found Owens wide open in the end zone. Owens bobbled

Packers vs Cowboys: Who is this game more important for?
Tonights big matchup between the Cowboys and the Packers is by far the biggest game in the NFC. If you can see it. The NFL network is offering this game but it is only available with satellite companies and certain cable companies. The cable companies that offer this channel offer it on a higher tier of service, and guess what? It costs more money. More of cable companies monopoly but don’t get me started on that. Back to the actual game. This game has huge playoff implications for both teams. Both teams are 10-1, leading their division and have home fields that would be tough to win at in the playoffs. This is probably the second most important game of the year (after Colts vs Patriots). Whoever wins this game gets a huge advantage because they will basically go two games up on the other for first place in the NFC. No one wants to go to Lambeau in January and I don’t see the Cowboys being able to beat them there. Just like I don’t see Brett Favre and the P

Thursday night’s National Football League showdown between the Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys is expected to be one of the best of the season.
Thursday night’s National Football League showdown between the Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys is expected to be one of the best of the season. It will be a treat for the few pigskin fans who will be able to view it. For most everyone else, it will serve as a window into the power struggles within the media business. The highly anticipated contest marks the first time in 17 years and only the second time in nearly four decades that two teams, each with 10-1 records, have faced off. But instead of a ratings bonanza, the game has become hostage in the ongoing battle between the NFL and some of the nation’s biggest cable operators. The reason is the league’s own channel, the NFL Network, has exclusive broadcast rights for the game but is not available in roughly two-thirds of the households in the country. Other than satellite subscribers, some cable subscribers or those who purchased premium sports packages, most fans won’t be seeing this matchup from home.

Life goes on at NFL – Packers face Cowboys
After all the grief from the past days (and now that the news seem to be “outshined” by other random stuff like the rumors of Britney Spears being pregnant for the third time, apparently J.R. Rotem being the father), we will have to say that unfortunately, life goes on. And so does NFL. Thursday night will have a great NFL football game (Green Bay Packers @ Dallas Cowboys) to remind us we have to move on after Sean Taylor’s tragedy.  The Packers-Cowboys matchup has brought a lot of expectation for NFL betting fans since both teams are 10-1 right now, leading their Divisions. Those are the best teams on the NFC right now and it will be some kind of power struggle. Green Bay has been solid throughout these NFL Season weeks, and the Cowboys have been more unstable but there’s no doubt they’re getting better with each game. Judging for their recent games, they’re really tight on the winning streak (Packers 6W, Cowboys 5W). We could say right now there’s a slighter chance of

Packers’ success equals bigger payday for McCarthy?
I’m sure you’ve heard the old saying, “To the victor goes the spoils”. Nothing could be more appropriate than for current Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy. His team is currently 8-1, in line to win the NFC North, and make a trip to the playoffs. And what goes better with success than a significant rise in the paycheck? McCarthy, more than any other current head coach in the National Football League, probably stands to gain the most from his team’s success this season. In the middle of a 3-year contract, he has positioned himself to cash in, financially. Of the seven head coaches that were hired before the 2006 season, McCarthy’s record (16-9) is by far the best. Only the New Orleans Saints’ Sean Payton (14-11) approaches that level of success. According to Rob Demovsky of the Green Bay Press-Gazette, league insiders who are familiar with coaching contracts and McCarthy’s situation with the Packers, it is common knowledge

Packers 6-1 Following Monday Night OT Drama in Denver
For teams to take the next step into going from okay to good football teams, sometimes you need to win a game like what the Green Bay Packers did Monday night at Invesco Field in Denver. They built a 13-7 halftime lead, but allowed the Broncos to sneak back in with two second half field goals to tie the game at 13 heading into overtime. With the Detroit Lions peeking over their shoulder for a share of first place in the NFC North, the Pack put that thought to rest right away, as QB Brett Favre hit WR Greg Jennings on the first play of overtime with an 82-yard TD to win the game 19-13 and improve to 6-1 on the season. It was the play of the season for the Packers, and per usual, Favre was right in the middle of it. The QB, who has talked about retiring for what seems like forever, hit two long TD passes Monday night and showed that usual veteran poise that is making 2007 seem like 1997 for him all over again. Some say that Favre has lost some zing on the ball, or that he is not the p

Packers vs. Bears: What happened to Green Bay?
The known long-time rivalry between Bears and Packers took place again on Sunday, where Green Bay was defeated at home 27-20 by their arch-enemies. It was a very interesting game to watch and, for the first time in quite a while, the Chicago Bears had the chance of actually feeling satisfied with their offensive strategy. Brian Griese did an amazing job replacing Rex Grossman. Some might say it was too simple, but it worked and in the end that’s what this is about.  For those who didn’t want to take the underdog, yesterday was probably a surprise and a waste of money. Looking at the NFL Standings, particularly in NFC North, you would’ve thought the leaders would crush Chicago since they’re 3rd. But the truth is that Green Bay lost their winning streak and, even if they’re not moving out of 1st place, it doesn’t mean they don’t have to work a lot more.  Still, we understand that many people just couldn’t see that coming. By halftime the Packers were leading the game wi

Packers RB Wynn Pushing for No.1
DeShawn Wynn will get more carries at halfback this week and could displace Brandon Jackson as the Green Bay Packers’ primary halfback. The Packers on Monday were vague about making such a move because they want to keep a competitive advantage over San Diego early this week, but it’s a given they’ll make Wynn a more prominent part of the offense in an effort to boost their flagging run game. Wynn has outperformed Jackson in the first two games and is winning the trust of the coaching staff for being assignment-sure and taking a professional approach after getting off to a shaky start with the organization in the offseason and training camp. Reported by Pete Dougherty, packersnews.com <<<<Hotwire>>>> Wynn’s 38 yard TD run against the Giants, probably made him the highest sought FA for week 3. We are witnessing a shift in tides. Packers Waive Kicker Rayner
The Green Bay Packers, a team that is unsettled at several positions, have taken care of at least one for right now.  Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel is reporting that the team has released place kicker Dave Rayner and will hold on to sixth-round draft choice Mason Crosby.  This development is a mild surprise as both kickers had strong training camps.  Rayner and his agent, Paul Sheehy were told by the Packers that both kickers kicked to a draw (whatever that means).  What’s interesting is that neither Rayner or his agent were told by the team why Rayner was released. But Sheehy added (and I agree), “I think in their mind they were about equal.  But they used a draft pick on him (Crosby) and that’s a valuable thing.  You don’t like to cut draft picks.”  I would venture to guess that Crosby probably had the stronger leg of the two, as well.  Crosby’s agent, Mike McCartney, agreed about the draft pick theory that S

Packers RB Jackson May Miss Opener
Coach Mike McCarthy characterized Jackson’s concussion from practice today as “mild,” and didn’t rule Jackson out of playing Thursday night at Tennessee. However, any concussion is of major concern because of the unpredictable nature of head injuries, and there’s a chance he won’t be recovered for next week’s opener. Reported by Pete Dougherty, Green Bay Post-Gazette <<<Hotwire>>> Assuming Jackson doesn’t play Thursday, the Packers will go into Tennessee with rookie DeShawn Wynn, who will be making his preseason debut after missing the first three games because of a quadriceps injury; Noah Herron, who’s the No. 3 halfback behind Jackson and Morency; and undrafted rookie Corey White, who’s also expected to get some work at fullback.

Packers RB Jackson Unable to Finish Practice
On Sunday, rookie Brandon Jackson went down hard after a collision with another player during a 2-minute drill, and after taking a few more snaps in a non-contact 7-on-7 drill was unable to finish practice. Jackson, according to other players, suffered a blow to the head that most thought wasn’t serious. After practice, however, the usually affable Jackson looked to be in a fog as he prepared to walk from his locker to the training room and did not respond to questions about his injury. Coach Mike McCarthy was unaware of the extent of Jackson’s injury immediately after practice, so it’s unclear whether Jackson suffered a concussion. Reported by Tom Silverstein <<<Hotwire>>> The running back situation is very shallow in Packer land. Hopefully this turns out to be minor.

Coach Mike McCarthy was given a brief medical report from team doctor Patrick McKenzie before addressing reporters. He was asked whether Driver had suffered a Lisfranc injury, the dreaded condition that sidelined Robert Ferguson for the season in 2006. “Pat didn’t seem that it was that (extensive) as far as the location on the foot,” McCarthy said. “He just told me it was a foot sprain. (Driver) is in good spirits. I don’t have a diagnosis as far as weeks.” Reported by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel <<<Hotwire>>> Driver, probably the team’s best player the last two seasons, would be a catastrophic loss if the injury is long term. He probably would be replaced in the lineup by rookie James Jones. At the moment, we have Driver projected at 82/1155/8

Packers Plan On Committee At Running Back
Packers Head Coach Mike McCarthy plans on RBs Brandon Jackson and Vernand Morency sharing the load at halfback this season, but even if the injured Morency returns in early September, he’ll have missed all of training camp. That means that Jackson will be the primary ball-carrier early in the season, and perhaps longer. “If our committee (of backs) is not healthy, then it goes to a committee of one,” said Reggie McKenzie, the Packers’ director of pro personnel. “Coach Mike will figure out a way to get (Jackson) to be productive.” Reported by Pete Dougherty, Green Bay Press Gazette <<<Hotwire>>> Morency for the time being, doesn’t appear to be a threat to Jackson’s production, but the knock on Jackson is his ability to block. Hopefully he’ll pick this up before Morency is back to health, but its always a good strategy to try and hand-cuff the backfield.

Packers WR Ferguson Being Shown the Door
The Robert Ferguson experiment has apparently blown up in the Green Bay Packers’ face.  According to Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, the 6th-year wide receiver will be either traded or released very soon.  The writing was on the wall when on Thursday, head coach Mike McCarthy informed Ferguson that the team is either going to trade or release him. McCarthy told the Journal-Sentinel, “Robert will no longer be a Packer.  We’re going to go in another direction.  We’re just moving on with the other guys and that’s where it stands right now.  I’ll have more definitive information for you tomorrow.”  McCarthy also stated that several teams expressed an interest in Ferguson.  Assuming that Ferguson is released, he is eligible to sign with any team in the league.  I would say at this point, the Packers, if they attempt to trade Ferguson, will not get a heck of a lot for him (probably a late-round draft choice) and

Packers TE Franks on the Way Out?
Training camp is only 2 and a half weeks old, yet it appears that Packers tight end Bubba Franks may be without a job.  Probably the most pressing issue is whether he will be on the team’s 53-man roster by the first game of the regular season, which is on September 9 against the Philadelphia Eagles.  Franks didn’t exactly help his cause this past Saturday in the Packers’ preseason opener against the Pittaburgh Steelers when he dropped a seemingly easy catch on a 3rd-and-8 situation. But as team director of pro personnel Reggie McKenzie told Rob Demovsky of the Green Bay Press-Gazette on Monday, “Hopefully, he can rebound from that.  I think he’s having a solid camp.  He hasn’t been dropping a whole bunch of balls, so hopefully that doesn’t become an issue.  Hopefully, he’s not pressing.  You don’t need to press.”  That comment from McKenzie sounds like the Pack are lacking, quality-wise, in the TE department

Packers LB Bennett Unlikely to be Suspended
Packers linebacker Nick Barnett may get off on his recent issues after allegedly pushing a female in a bar. Reports say that the woman threw a drink in Barnett’s face, which may have provoked him to do what he did. Now there are reports that state that NFL commish Roger Goodell, who has been strict with problems off the field to date, may give Barnett the benefit of the doubt over what took place. It is the first incident of its kind for Barnett in his five-year pro career, and now sources are saying that they would be shocked if Barnett gets any sort of suspension. That would be of great relief to the Packers, who need Barnett on the field as one of stars on defense, and as the leader as the middle linebacker. Barnett was a solid part of why the Packers “D” last season was ranked 12th in the league, and missing him for even four games would hurt, as the Pack open up at home vs Philly at the Giants in week two, home for the Chargers, and at Minnesota on September 30th

Favre’s Sore Shoulder Keeps Him Out of Packers Practice
Packers quarterback Brett Favre is done with workouts with the Packers for now, all due to a sore right shoulder.  The right throwing shoulder for Favre is going to get a break as he wants to make sure that he does not wear it out for the upcoming training camp in July and the season which starts in September. “I probably could practice, but it really don’t make a lot of sense to go out and make it any worse,” Favre said. “I think it’s probably just tendinitis or something like that.” Favre did not practice with the Pack Wednesday and Thursday.  The longtime quarterback overall has missed seven of the 12 OTA’s since they began three weeks ago.  Head coach Mike McCarthy is not concerned about the situation, and thinks that Favre will be ready to go when needed.  “The biggest thing we got out of Brett being here No. 1 is to be around the younger guys (and) doing the adjustments we’ve made in our scheme getting ready for the seaso

Favre Does a 180 - Will be at Packers Mini-Camp
Doing an about face, possibly due to the backlash by even his own fans, Packers QB Brett Favre now says he will be at the teams mandatory mini-camp this weekend. The story of the week around the league is how Favre, who reportedly was so upset with the team recently about not trading for Randy Moss that he demanded a trade, was going to miss the camp to rehab his ankle and stay home to assist in plans for his daughter’s upcoming graduation. While Favre is not going to be able to practice, by all means it is his place to be at the camp. His daughter’s graduation is not until next weekend, and who in their right mind believes that Favre is running around buying party hats and balloons for his little girl’s graduation party? What, no one else but Brett can hit Party City and grab some decorations for the big upcoming celebration of his daughter graduating high school? If nothing else, it just should prove to the Packers they had better think long and hard about that rebu

      Moss to the Packers?
According to http://www.profootballtalk.com/rumormill.htm, the Packers and Raiders are discussing a potential trade involving the moody Randy Moss and inexperienced Quarteback Aaron Rodgers. The real question is if we acquire Aaron Rodgers would we still draft a Quarterback? That would leave Andrew Walter as the only QB with any starting experience. It would also open the door for us to draft Calvin Johnson. A more likley trade would involve Randy Moss for draft picks but Al Davis would likely ask for more than any team would be willing to part with for an expensive 30 year old receiver who plays when he wants to play.I can't envision us with three unexperienced QBs on our roster so if Rodgers comes to Oakland, we most likely won't be draft a Quarterback. If this rumor is real, the trade would probably take place later so we could try to trade our pick to Cleveland who is interested in Russell.

      Green Bay Packers (8-8)
2006 season: 8-8Head Coach: Mike McCathyOffensive Coordinator: Joe PhilbinDefensive Coordinator: Bob SandersPro-Bowl: Donald Driver (WR) and Aaron Kampman (DE).OffenseThe Green Bay packers were one of those up and coming teams due in part to their offense. Brett Favre snapped back from a miserable season last year when he threw a career high 29 interceptions. This year Favre threw for 3,885 yards, 18 touchdowns and just 18 interceptions. Although they aren't stellar numbers they were significantly better than last year. The Packers only real problem on offense was their mediocre running game. Ahman Green bounced back from an injury plagued 2005 season and started 14 games. He rushed for 1,059 yards and 5 touchdowns. Donald Driver had another great season, making 92 receptions for 1,295 yards and 8 touchdowns and capped it off by being selected to the Pro-Bowl. Another key target emerged this season in the form of rookie wide receiver, Greg Jennings. Jennings caught 45 balls for 632 ya
