Different seasons bring different recipes. Here's a soup recipe that I always pull out in the springtime. I learned this recipe from a cook I worked with early on in my restaurant career when I was cooking at one of those faux pub-syle eateries that were so popular in Long Island in the late 70's and early 80's. The cook's name? It was Walter, I believe-- this was back in '83 and these days the memory cells are moving slower than they used to... heh, heh! The things I remember the most about Walter are these three things: 1) He had a lot of great soup recipes 2) He grew up in the Ozark mountains of Arkansas and 3) He was a big fan of the tv sitcom The Beverly Hillbillies-- especially Jed Clamp
Not only do I have the pleasure of working in the construction division of one of Branson’s premier golf resorts, Thousand Hills, I have the somewhat unique pleasure of traveling to Branson from the northwest each day on a portion of the Ozark Mountain Highway. As it wanders through the hills and hollers of tranquil [...]
The Ozark Mountains of the United States are slowly becoming more of an upscale cultural place to visit and live. Boasting great weather; beautiful scenery; plenty of theater, opera, orchestra, film, and other cultural events; golf, skiing, fishing, hiking, and outdoor sports; and great prices on real estate, Branson, Missouri is a great place to vacation and to live. Stonebridge Village & Resort, home of Ledgestone Championship golf course, is a great place to begin looking at Branson property.Tags: golf, ledgestone, stonebridge, ozarks, branson, missouri, lynda lippin
The Ozark Mountain Daredevils were among the most popular of mid-'70s country-rock outfits, slotting in chronologically between the Eagles and Firefall, although they were never remotely as successful as either. As exponents of '70s country-rock, the group rode a wave of success for five years on A&M Records and survived in some form into the 1990s, with a following just large enough to justify occasional record releases. The sextet was formed in Missouri during the early '70s, consisting of guitarists John Dillon and Steve Cash, blues harpist/singer/guitarist Randle Chowning, drummer/guitarist/singer Larry Lee, keyboard player Buddy Brayfield, and bassist-vocalist Michael Granda, and was signed to A&M Records in 1973. Their first album, recorded under the supervision of producer Glyn Johns, was a critical success and yielded a Top 30 hit in "If You Want to Get to Heaven." A year later, they had the biggest hit in their history, "Jackie Blue," a mellow piece of country-rock that got
Ozark Borderlands Home to Newest Missouri Quail Forever Chapter Fifth QF chapter to form in Missouri this year plans to improve local quail habitat For Immediate Release Anthony Hauck (651)209-4972 California, Mo. - May-31 - Quail enthusiasts in Cole, Moniteau and Cooper Counties have formed Missouri's newest Quail Forever (QF) chapter, known as the Moreau Valley Chapter of QF. The chapter – the fifth QF chapter to form in Missouri this year - will work on local quail habitat restoration and habitat development and youth hunter recruitment in the state's Ozark borderlands region. "Changes from small to big farms, coinciding with changes in farming practices have reduced the quail population in recent decades, so our mission is to work with farmers and landowners in the three-county area on practices which can reverse that trend," said Ron Lehman, the chapter's newly-elected president from Jefferson City.
Ozark Mountain Daredevils - The Car Over the Lake Album(1975)256kbpsThe Ozark Mountain Daredevils' third album for A&M continues their good-natured Southern chooglin' with hints of a newfound mid-'70s AM pop vibe. Although it was recorded in Nashville, The Car Over the Lake Album has a distinctly Californian vibe on several tracks, particularly those written and sung by drummer Larry Lee, whose contributions could ride along "Ventura Highway" with any of America's recordings. Despite this warm Beach Boys influence, the album is still a Southern rocker, evident on "Keep on Churning," "Leatherwood," and the slightly goofy "Gypsy Forest." The hard-rockin' push of "If You Want to Get to Heaven" is nowhere to be found on this album, but the laid-back porch-sittin' hum of "From Time to Time" and the spectacular "If I Only Knew" act as an acceptable substitute. [The Car Over the Lake Album was re-released through New Era Productions in 2002 featuring three bonus tracks from the band's

Along The Banks of the Finley River!Ozark was first settled in 1883 along the banks of the Finley River. The original bridge was long removed and the current bridge is in it's place. To read more about the history of Ozark, click here.Further north of the Finley River Bridge is one of Southwest Missouri's oldest restaurants, Riverside Inn.The bridge at Riverside Inn was a learning experience for one of my children. Coming home late one evening, she crossed over the bridge, in the fog, after a heavy rain and suddenly found herself floating down the river. Quick thinking, she was able to swim out before her car went under water. Once we fished the car out, she had to drive it, mildew smell and all!
Historic Square in Ozark MissouriThe city of Ozark was first settled in 1833 along the banks of the Finley River. Among the first businesses was a general store, doctors office, wagon and freight yard, and a blacksmith shop.In 1882, the railroad arrived. Along with it, came new businesses and Ozark continued to grow. After the Great Depression, the population began to dwindle.Christian County was established in 1859 and was named after Christian County, Kentucky. The Christian County Courthouse was built in 1860 on the north side of the square in Ozark. This is the Ozark square today. With the help of local and state grants, the square has been restored to promote the historic era. Three notorious "Baldknobbers" were hanged on the Southwest corner of the Square. Ozark is currently trying to erect a new monument of this event. Come see what Ozark has to offer. Visit my website at: www.kayvankampen.com.
