I went to Luxe with my mom(who was in town) and a client on Saturday and even though it is not quite finished, I was still greatly impressed. We got to all wear hard hats (hot!) and looked at both one bedroom and two bedroom condos.
This 22 floor condominium is unlike others going up in [...]
We overlook ourselves so much of the time; it is "crazy!" To be more precise, we overfeel over selves. To illustrate this; put your right hand up about 8 to 10 inches in front of your right eye. Then look at it. You can then shift your focus to the left. Look at anything else in your field of vision. Once you are completely focused on something else, you will notice that you barely see your hand an
That morning of that fatal Tuesday, I felt nauseous. For years, I had been suffering from migraines. I felt queasy sensing it was kind of more eerie to feel something I didn't understand. Something just did not feel right. I did not know what or why. It was about 8:30 a.m. The kids had gone to school so I ate breakfast. Soon, my employer would come out of her room to take her morning joe. I alread

Teichmann said that the Game of Chess is 90% tactics. The middle game is rife with tactical opportunities which only one player sees! The middle game is where observation becomes most important, where the player sees the potentials and possibilities overlooked by his opponent. Tactical moves and combinations are even overlooked by strong players as well as average players. When more than one t
Jerusalem’s special. A person can spend a lifetime living here and still not grasp the depths of this city, the vast history, the diverse culture, the impossible politics, the spirit of what Jerusalem is.
This Saturday I joined the municipal tour through the old city of Jerusalem towards the Kidron stream valley in East Jerusalem [...]
Veteran small-cap manager Martin Ferguson, director and portfolio manager at Calgary-based Mawer Investment Management Ltd., says that there is considerable apathy towards small caps which is the result of the credit crisis, the slowdown in the United States and concerns about the resurgence of inflation."We have not seen this degree of indifference to small caps since the height of the tech bubbl

A recent experience made me realize how easy it is to overlook special photographic opportunities that may exist right in ones own backyard. For 17 years I have been living a mere 10-15 minute walk from Phipps Conservatory, which a wonderful botanical garden. Needless to say, I have often photographed the outdoor gardens, but never the indoor ones because of the much lower light levels. Little did I know that if you are a member (which I am) you can bring a tripod inside from 9:30 - 11:00AM on Sundays. Thanks to Bob Egan, whose wonderful show "In Search Of Color" is still on display at Phipps, for letting me know about this member benefit. Two Tulip Abstract - Indoors At Phipps Copyright Howard Grill I was able to bring my tripod in two weeks ago and am signed up for this Sunday once again.I

This was painted en plein air overlooking the Hudson River from the Benmarl Vinyard in Marlboro, New York. I was there with several other painters. Everybody was painting the river or the orchard, but I was drawn to these two chairs facing the river. They looked like they were enjoying the view, in the shady spot under the ornamental tree with the cascading branches. It’s one of my favorite paintings for my show at:
Bannerman Island Gallery

Beacon, New York
Come join us for the opening reception this Saturday, October 13, from 4-6pm. I’ll probably be there until 7 for any latecomers. I have 17 paintings in the show that are mostly Hudson River Valley scenes which I painted on location. The show was just hung this morning and it looks great! Beacon’s “Second Saturday” is always loads of fun, with all the gallery openings on one night, and the shops stay open late.
The show will hang through November 7, so if

Plein air painting is always so full of suspense. Not only don’t you know how the painting will turn out, but you never know what may happen on the journey and during the process. It’s always an adventure; I think that’s why I’m so hooked!
A few days ago when I went to Long Island Sound to paint at Marshlands Conservancy, it was an easy ride, and even the painting process seemed effortless. By contrast, today was a true traffic nightmare, and I felt like I fought for this painting every step of the way! That really took me by surprise. I’ve painted the Constitution Marsh overview from Boscobel so many times that I never thought this marsh view in Rye would give me such a battle. I came home so tired that I had to take a nap!

A lot of webmasters and search engine optimizers don't realize the full power of social media websites. If you're like a lot of online users, you figure social media sites like Digg and Netscape are a great place to get exposure and a some great traffic. Let me tell you what social media sites can offer you - other than links - that you might be overlooking.Back in July a new social media website called Sphinn was released. Sphinn is a social site for search engine optimizers and marketers, with a huge focus on search engine related news and articles. There hasn't been any big SEO and online marketing community driven sites like Sphinn, so a lot of big names were quick to jump on board. If you haven't already, take a look around and register over at Sphinn. On July 17th I wrote a post about how "Sphinn.com is basically a popularity contest", which made it to the front page of Sphinn and is currently residing in the "Greatest Hits" archive of the site. The purpose of the article was n

Most webmasters have visited Google’s Webmaster Help Center http://www.google.com/support/webmasters. Many of the suggestions are obvious: Don’t use frames; Don’t employ cloaking techniques or scripts designed to trick search engines; Create a search engine-friendly site map; Get incoming links from other quality web sites. But us webmasters can be a cocky bunch and will let our [...]
Talk radio interviews aren’t what they used to be.
In the “golden days,” the hosts of major-market talk radio shows used to bring authors into the studio for long chats. An author could just knock off a couple of those interviews and sales would instantly hit “turbo.”
Sadly, those days are gone. Unless an author is [...]
