I just read this article about a woman charged with first-degree reckless homicide because someone else allegedly overdosed on her methadone. This is one of a few cases like this that I’ve heard about recently, a new(ish) trend among the courts to charge those who gave the drugs to overdose victims with homicide.

The boy has been charged as a juvenile with criminally negligent homicide, criminal sale of a controlled substance and endangering the welfare of a child, his lawyer said. The boy took the pills - knowing what they were - from his father's drawer March 10 and brought them to the girl, Dana Marie Regan, police said.
