Really crying on the outside, too. One line in this AP report caused me to half laugh/half gasp: A Kuwaiti who had been imprisoned in Guantanamo for more than 3 1/2 years carried out a recent suicide attack in Iraq, the U.S. military said Wednesday. Abdullah Saleh al-Ajmi took part in one of three suicide bomb attacks last month in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul, said U.S. Navy Cmdr. Scott Rye, a military spokesman. . . . . Al-Ajmi, 29, was transferred in 2005 to Kuwait, where the government was supposed to ensure he would not pose a threat. In May 2006, a Kuwaiti court acquitted him and four other former Guantanamo prisoners of terrorism charges. . . . . "It is unknown what motivated him to leave Kuwait and go to Iraq," Rye said. Outdoor Kitchen Cabinets Solve The Outside Kitchen Storage Problem
Outdoor Kitchen Cabinets Solve The Outside Kitchen Storage ProblemOutdoor kitchens are becoming more prevalent as we take our favorite gathering place from inside the house to our outside surroundings. The question is, where do you keep all the items normally found in a kitchen in an outdoor kitchen? The answer is simple: outdoor kitchen cabinets. Outdoor kitchen cabinets offer all the storage amenities of regular indoor cabinets but are made to weather the elements unlike their indoor brethren. The first notion to dispel about outdoor kitchen cabinets is that they're made from the same materials as indoor cabinets. They're not. Outdoor cabinets are made from several different types of material ranging from polymers to metal to durable wood that's naturally resilient to the elements. The pol

Summer Jobs for Teens -- Opportunity to Think Outside the Box
According to Renee Ward, founder of www.Teens4Hire.org, “Teens seeking paying part-time and/or summer jobs will find it harder but not impossible to do this year. Overall hiring has slowed due to economic uncertainties and businesses are reluctant to hire minor teens. As a result, teens will have to work to find work.” If you’re a teen, you can go to this website for advice on finding summer jobs. Yet there’s another avenue for summer employment: You can think outside of the box, something that I always encourage young people to do whether they’re applying to college, looking for an internship, or job hunting. First, assess how much you need or want to make this summer. This gives you a starting point in your planning as well as a definite target number.

A Lazy Day on the Hudson: New Yorkers Go Outside
All week the weather in New York has been "drop dead gorgeous," as many would say it here, with each day progressively warmer. The winter, suddenly gone, with its distinction between New Yorkers at work and visitors on vacation, gave way to an atmosphere of beach-time laziness for all. The West Side piers along the Hudson draw many New Yorkers, especially those living in the West Village. The Hudson River Park affords views of big sky, passing boats, the Jersey shoreline, and off to the left, outside of this picture, the Statue of Liberty in the distance. I was out there, too, today. It was a little hazy, but I was happy for the warm sun. Many, like me, are still a little pale. If I've been slack in my posts this week, you now know why.Image: Hudson River Park, April 19, 2008. Yes, if you are a resident of Mexico or Canada. Drivers certified in Canada are certified to drive in the United States, providing they meet U.S. requirements. For Mexican drivers, the medical examination is part of the Licencia Federal. It is not necessary for Mexican drivers to carry a separate medical certifying document. Even if you have started many of your seeds indoors to extend your growing season some seeds should always start outdoors since they are sensitive to transplant shock. If you have been to a garden center or nursery lately you can get an idea by what types of plants can be transplanted easily. If you are now looking at your seed packets wondering if you should plant these indoors or outdoors here are my suggestions: Plants that can be started indoors: Broccoli, Cabbage, Cauliflower, Celery, Cucumbers, Cukes, Eggplant, Herbs, Kale, Leeks, Lettuce, Muskmelons, Onions (se

      Inside or Outside
Inside Dog or Outside Dog?By Marc Goldberg Do you have an outside dog? In some parts of the country, it is almost unheard of to let a dog live outside in the yard. Exercise Without Going Outside
Some days the weather just doesn't cooperate with your workout. Winter can be too frigid, summer too stiffling, and when it rains, forget it. But by picking up the pace of your usual housework, and sneaking in some aerobic moves and toning exercises, you'll have a total-body workout on your hands in no time! The trick: Just try to get your heart rate up—exercise at a level no higher than you would rate as feeling "somewhat hard." Talk to your doctor about the right routine for you, but a good plan to start with is 30 minutes of aerobic activity on most days—try three to four times a week at first. When you get the hang of that, add strength training and toning exercises—go for three times a week. Always gradually warm up with mild calisthenics and light stretching before working out (y

Affordable starter homes just outside Salt Lake City
One myth that some buyers have been led to believe lately is that if you are looking for a starter home, you’ll have to settle in some way.  Either you’ll have to buy one that’s too old for you, too small, or in an area that you don’t think is nice enough for you.  People [...]

      Marketing Outside of the fishbowl
CC Chapman has this really great description about social media and the people who play in it - his calls it the fishbowl. Its like those who know and use social media tools are connecting with other like minded people in the same space. But its actually a closed off environment. This is especially true of virtual worlds like second life, but goes for anything. Those who know about use it, those who don't use it, don't know what they don't know! Now apply this to marketing. My problem is, that my ideal client is highly unlikely to be listening to a podcast or reading my blog, or connecting with me on facebook. They probably dont even know what those things are at this point. Yet these are the people I want to work with, people who I can help to educate and

Media Unit Strctures: Learning Outside the Box
I've recently started listening to podcasts of the PRI program To The Best Of Our Knowledge. Unfortunately our affiliate doesn't get the program, so the podcast is one of my favorite discoveries in recent memory. The March 9 edition of the show, Learning Outside the Box, was particularly compelling. Featuring a discussion with Jonathan Mooney, the "learning disabled" author of The Short Bus, the show forces you to confront notions of "normalcy" in societal and educational contexts. Very thought provoking, and some of the best radio I've heard in a while. Listen to the stream here.
